what actually is backbenches..?
as a show it has always puzzled me…
it seems to be unable to make up its’ mind what it is..
..a politics show…or a game show..
..and thus..is a curates’ egg of a offering..
the pace is all rather frantic…bouncing all over the place like a weighted rubber ball…
and getting pollies to shake rattles/stoopid-quizzes..maybe worked once…but does wear somewhat…
and the nearest to serious it gets is a furrow-browed cross from the host…
irredeemably lite-weight..
..and you walk away from it going..w.t.f.. was that…
..instantly-forgettable/insight-free……
let’s hope it’s been re-jigged..
