Dealing with the important issues
February 3rd, 2011 at 7:30 am by David FarrarAP report:
South Africa’s governing party has pronounced: eating sushi off the body of a model in a bikini is politically incorrect.
A statement from African National Congress secretary general Gwede Mantashe on Monday is unequivocal: “This act is anti-ANC and anti-revolutionary. This act is defamatory, insensitive and undermining of woman’s integrity.”
The fish-on-flesh question has raged in South African media in recent months following reports of the practice at parties of wealthy businessmen and socialites. Earlier Monday, Johannesburg newspapers reported the head of the ANC’s powerful youth league had attended such a party over the weekend.
How nice of the ANC to decie this matter. I wonder if it becomes acceptable if it is sashimi instead?

At least they haven’t outlawed breaking wind yet:
“Members of Parliament in Malawi, currently meeting in Lilongwe, will deliberate a bill that will empower traditional leaders to criminalise any person found to be ‘fouling air’.
Minister of Justice and Constitution Affairs George Chaponda is expected to introduce the bill that will empower traditional leaders to preside over some cases in ‘local courts’.
The bill, which is likely to face opposition in Parliament, was formulated to ease pressure on the courts in Malawi by allowing traditional leaders to try minor civil and criminal cases within their areas of jurisdiction.
Among the offences that the traditional leaders will preside over will include the prosecution of any person that is deemed to have fouled the air to the discomfort of other people.
The bill reads in part: “Fouling air: Any person who voluntarily vitiates the atmosphere in any place so as to make it noxious to the health of persons in general, dwelling or carrying on business in the neighbourhood or passing along a public way, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour.”

I would have thought it was fairly obvious that it was un-PC. That’s one of the good things about it. In fact my biggest issue is eating seaweed and rice. I guess steak, eggs and chips would get a bit messy – and the steak knife could be an issue.

The real issue is hidden in broad daylight in the last sentence – this is about the ANC’s prospective Idi Amin.
