I suspect this criminal will blame colonianism for his actions.

A silver-tongued Wellington fraudster conned a car dealership out of a $165,000 Mercedes by masquerading as the manager of Auckland’s Hilton Hotel – ordering hotel staff around and pouring himself drinks from behind the bar.

Heston Williamson told a salesman he wanted to take the car for a test drive. Police found him and the Mercedes the next day, 235 kilometres away in Rotorua, where he had checked into the Rydges hotel and run up a $560 bill.

Yesterday Williamson, 43, also known as Heston Kururangi, was sentenced to 14 months in prison after pleading guilty to several theft and fraud charges, including two of conning new cars out of dealerships and not returning them.

I never buy from BP – they are always the price hikers.

AA was this morning calling the petrol companies to lower prices, based on the increasing kiwi dollar and stablised prices. They have a gall to raise prices when they should be decreasing – AA are good watchdogs.

I think some people like to get AA points from them though.

But,you’re better off using shell and getting flybuys and credit card points.

What a terrible bowling change by Vettori to bring on Ryder when Oram and McKay had been strangling the Sri Lankans and still had two overs each to go. The batting lost the game but that bowling change guaranteed a Sri Lankan win.

They exceeded expectations in that they got to the semi-finals. They came nowhere near expectations as far as performance was concerned. They still threw away wickets irresponsibly in my view (McCullum last night). There was one batsman (cannot remember which one) bowled by a yorker. His bat was at a 45 degree angle. Fielding was brilliant and Guptil lead the pack here. Doesn’t make up for the weakness that he has when batting in the 30s and 40s, though.
SA cricket is having an independant review. NZ needs one as well. My worry is that Justin will say “Hey, we got to the semies. We are on the right track!”

Hilarious articles in the Herald this morning about the pack of ‘noddies’ around Goff yesterday. Labour treat us with such contempt if they think we are taken in.
We now know for sure they are gutless wonders who would rather stick with a loser like Goff than grasp the nettle and give us a good election fight this year. Pathetic.
Is it because of too many women and gays in the party that they don’t have the stomach for leadership?
Grant Robertson on TV last night shows he has developed the partliament paunch too. Too much sitting round, eating and drinking and talking. And how many versions have we had from Phil now?

{Goff] blamed Labour’s political opponents for the controversy and rumours of leadership plots, saying they had deliberately leaked the complaint against Mr Hughes and seeded rumours to destabilise Labour.

MP Trevor Mallard said there was genuine acceptance of Mr Goff’s explanation that he acted in good faith.
“I don’t think anyone in the room didn’t think things could have been done from slightly to very differently, but in the end it’s an awful situation and people were accepting of the explanations.

    – NZ Herald

One wonders, What sort of pain killers is Trevor on?

Big Bruv is right though; after Murali came on the scene, the sub-continent teams produced a wealth of spinners in particular with highly dubious actions. What was the ICC’s response? They caved in to the pressure of those who accused them of being racist, and changed the rules of the game to allow bowlers to flex their arm up to 15 degrees in the delivery swing. It was an incredibly weak stance by the ICC, and a blight on the game.

However. In her absence who wears that crown ?
Yesterday, in answer to that question a couple of correspondents nominated

beacompleteloon, what are you talking about? Have I mentioned this Kanwaljit? I have not heard of him before ten minutes ago. All I did was point out you’re using a word that means “child molester” against anyone you don’t like. I assume this is just due to you being ignorant. Have I said anythign whatever that would make a rational person think Kanwaljit is a “mate” or “hero” of mine. Seriously, what the fuck? You are completely insane.

beacompleteloon, try reading my last comment again. Which part of it is too diffcult for you? Really make an effort to concentrate on what it says, and not just substitute it for whatever track of bullshit is currentely playing on the record that’s spinning in your head.

Bailey Junior Kurariki has admitted assaulting a man and taking his bicycle, though his mother says he did not do it and is the victim of a police vendetta.

Kurariki, 21 – convicted at 13 for his part in the death of pizza delivery man Michael Choy – appeared in Manukau District Court yesterday on charges of assault, theft and resisting police.

In an explosive first appearance in the morning, he proclaimed he was “just an innocent black man”; and had not stolen the bike but wanted to plead guilty to move things along. However, Judge Jonathan Moses would not accept this plea because of his denial. Kurariki reappeared in the afternoon and pleaded guilty to the assault and resisting police charges.

Police said he kicked a passing cyclist and took the man's bicycle. As he pleaded, his mother, Lorraine West, stood and called out from the public gallery that her son had not stolen the bike.

Frog attempts to justify parties most extreme position on foreshore and seabed:

I was saddened to receive this open letter from Mike Stevens. Mike is Ngāi Tahu and his family go muttonbirding each year on the Tītī islands in Foveaux Strait. They are the only hapū who still preserve the birds they catch in traditional kelp bags (pōhā). As you can see from the story below, the source of kelp for these bags is now threatened by pollution. They may not take any birds off the island in pōhā this year, for the first time ever.

The problem is not as simple as you would have it Memory. Many of the marine resources being damaged by effluent (e.g. bull-kelp) are generally only valued by Maori kin-groups. And, as a minority people, Maori concerns are mostly ignored. This is especially true when doing otherwise would greatly inconvenience the settler power-culture. Put differently, damage is being done, but mostly to Maori property-rights, which have always been treated as expendable. I think that is the key point to this topic, and not, as you hint at, the supposed irrational aesthetics of Maori.
