Better cherish the isolation for now, the Rural Broadband roll out will see a cell tower on the island soon.

Its ok, DPF has asked me to keep an eye on things.

I will issue demerits at the drop of a hat.

I am open to bribes though. Dime has a price and unsurprisingly, i can be bought cheap. As long its enough to cover a street walking hooker from the needle exchange district we are good.

The opening weekend of the duckshooting season and DPF goes to the only part of the country where you’re not allowed to shoot ducks. Coincidence? I doubt it. (But then I see conspiracies everywhere, more than Pete Hodgson and Trevor Mallard combined)

Speaking of the start of the duck-shooting season Auberon, the local radio news this morning was reporting that Mallard numbers are very good this year. I daresay that Trevor will be keeping a low profile 🙂

anonymouse – AFAIK there are two cell towers on Great Barrier Island but I think they are intended to help give cell coverage for the Hauraki Gulf (you can work a laptop pretty well the whole way from Downtown to Great Barrier Island if your battery is up to it). Telecom has one at Mulberry Grove (Tryphena area) and Vodafone at Port Fitzroy AFAIK. There is no coverage on the Claris side apart from a ‘pay’ hotspot (as at 6-7 months ago).
