The greatest music video ever made
May 31st, 2011 at 3:00 pm by David FarrarThis was linked to by someone in the comments, and I loved it. As it happens American Pie is my favourite all time song, but the video is amazing – 10 minutes almost of non stop filming over several city blocks with a cast of thousands. It was filmed in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Slight hyperbole re the greatest music vid ever made but yes, an all time classic and undoubtedly a GREAT song. Forgot how wonderful those lyrics are.

That is really pretty damn cool, what a great concept & pretty much perfectly executed.

This one isn’t a single take, but features a couple of very cute Marines. There is something about a girl with an assault rifle and her own helicopter.

Try these. Video quality is crappy because they are very old, but concept and music in both brilliant:
DEVO – Secret Agent Man
ZZ Top – TV Dinners
BTW, American Pie is one of my favourite songs too DPF. But nothing beats Grace Slick’s White Rabbit.

Go to the gym. You haven’t got time for this. If you insist on giving the pos some free publicity, the least you can do is whip his arse.
On second thoughts, don’t whip his arse. He might like it.

“There’s hope for you yet toad.”
Wash your mouth out Leonardo there is no hope for a tosser like Toady.
He is the original dyed in the wool wartymelon luddite.
He is a nasty bugger too when you corner him.
Told me I was a wanker last night when I was trying to assist him with a vexing health and safety problem amongst his people.
Ungrateful bastard!

I love playing White Rabbit. As for McLean, I prefer his Vincent to American Pie, nicer song, better lyrics.
Vote:May 31st, 2011 at 7:10 pm
Somehow I prefer this version:

Apparently, Don McLean like it so much he listened to it so many times now he has to stop himself singing the “saga” lyrics when he performs now.

Vincent. My favourite PG.

Perhaps we are closer than we thought in some respects?

Maybe it was having the shooting star like career of Buddy Holly, the inspiration for this song as a significant part of my life that gave me the connection but I am firmly in Farrer’s camp on this. Yes Vincent was almost there as well.

Don’t go there JB!
American Pie didn’t even make the Rolling Stone Magazine “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” (Vincent neither).
No 1 was Like A Rolling Stone Lyrics (Dylan)
The song list was chosen based on votes by 172 musicians, critics, and music-industry figures.

Fuck them all PG:
I like Vincent and that’s all that bloody matters to me.
I’ve always been of the opinion that my opinion is the best one.

Hey, JB, that is some great music. I’m a Miles Davis fan, but never heard that one before.
I’ll pass you suggestion on to the people who are organising the social bits of the conference.
And, BTW, how come you have taken so much interest in the Green Party to search out where their conference venue is? Can’t imagine you are a closet Green!

I’m a closet Chiropractor looking to tap a gold mine when all the huge neck bones cause permanent spinal problems.
“Why do some patients tend to have low back strains and sprains more often?
Good question! We do know some factors that tend to influence the development of this type of problem, but often these symptoms strike in unexpected situations. Most commonly, patients who develop a lumbar strain or sprain are doing an activity that places their back at risk. This may be a sudden forceful movement, lifting a heavy object, or twisting the back in an unusual manner. Knowing how to properly lift can help to prevent many back injuries. ”
I am of course available for private consultations at Kiwiblog 7 Days/week between 1.00PM and whenever.

Never having been contracted to a Green Party conference before Toady I”m not sure but I have always been willing to learn and I assume you will have experts on composting toilets on hand to dispose of the fecal matter, perhaps Saint Jeanette herself.
I’m sure Kevin will also give a hand if needed.
It might be a bit of a bugger at first but I am sure we can push our way through it if me all come together and use any helping hands that you guys have.

Nah that’s tame in comparison to a lot of music videos I can name.
1,) ‘Red Lights’ (a.k.a The Cat Video) by Holy Fuck is miles better for starters.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhaRkWfaq10
2.) ‘What’s a Girl’ by Bat For Lashes is also way,way cooler:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1wnOUH2jk8
3.) ‘Just’ by Radiohead is brill.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_qMagfZtv8
All the music in these videos is also miles better than naff American Pie (begins yawning and nodding off)
You gotta get out more.
Cheers.
Paul.
