Labour won’t be happy campers due to their Wide Open Web. We shouldn’t be happy either, and not just with them.
Typical, sadly, is some of the reaction – Whaleoil response blatant dishonesty? – our entrenched political sickness needs a bloody big injection of something different.
You’d think they would have learnt from past outbreaks of exposure but no, the self interest of the parties is too deeply rooted. No matter who’s done the most wrong in this latest debacle they won’t change more than they have to, again. Unless we confront them and make them.
Yes Nookin, I’ll repeat one of your comments here:
I hope labour are embarrassed to hell this week.
Then, maybe, we can introduced some ethics into politics.
Hmmm, ethics in politics. DPF just mentioned “debate proposals on their merits” on his Rascist post. We are starting to hear some good positive phrases.
We need to keep pushing them until the politicians listen to us – and take notice of us. They won’t introduce it themselves, unless they have to to save their skins.
had a read of the Standard for the first time in a long while. Ran out of popcorn while scanning through an incredible mixture of intellectual challenge to the beneficiary bashers and some of the lowest, unsupported vitriolic accusations about the Whale that could only be spouted anonymously.
The level of outrage at Cameron Slater’s revelations is hilarious, given The Standard’s cheerleading for The Hollow Men, Wikileaks and the theft of Sarah Palin’s e-mails. Now all of a sudden releasing private information into the public domain, and The Standard commenters are calling for the police.
Would anyone like fries with their double-standard?
Inventory2 says: “Would anyone like fries with their double-standard?”
Touche.
I trust that Whale will drip feed this information so it achieves the same effects as an Indian Water torture. It’s hilarious to see the squirming and anguish coming from the Stranded – rank hypocrisy has a stench of its own.
The release of Sarah Palin’s emails from when she was governor of Alaska sets a great precedent for the release of other politician’s emails.
I look forward to, for example, emails from when Obama was a senator. Let the sunlight shine.
mikenmild, presumably you are deficient in brain cells. The emails were released after the opportunity to remove personal emails. Are you really that stupid?

@mikenmild says: “Does the dog’s name really matter? It’s not a documentary, you know.”
Of course it doesn’t matter – its only altering history. Just like we can’t give our kids golliwogs nowadays. Not supposed to read them Noddy & Big Ears nor play Sooty & Sweep on the TV. But its OK for some rap singer to use the term but not a film based on the factual account of the bombing of the dams.
I’m pretty certain that “black babies” don’t appear at the lolly shop these days either Elaycee and we all know the trouble it caused not so long ago when a Canadian person took offence at the sale of “Eskimo’s”.
Well that’s a bit of an over-reaction. It seems likely that some members of a cinema audience wouldn’t appreciate an offensive name. Not a biggie, and the movie-makers are right to keep clear of any fuss. Altering history? It’s a movie, like Braveheart or Gladiator.
No one is stopping you from getting a golliwog or naming your own dog Nigger if that’s what you want.
If you decide to call your dog “Nigger” mikenmaid and it does a runner in Otara, take my advice, don’t go calling it’s name when you are out searching for it.!
I knew of a bloke who had a Pitbull called Adolf. He used to go calling it when it strayed. Never had any trouble, though he was a six foot six skinhead.

(1) Every one is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years who, directly or indirectly, accesses any computer system and thereby, dishonestly or by deception, and without claim of right,—
Well done Eddie!…now let’s scroll on back up to s217:
dishonestly, in relation to an act or omission, means done or omitted without a belief that there was express or implied consent to, or authority for, the act or omission from a person entitled to give such consent or authority (my emphasis)
The fact that the information was available to all and sundry would suggest that there was an implied consent. In any respect, WO just needs to genuinely believe that such consent existed, it matters not whether that belief was reasonable.
As for s 252, it’s a hacking offence, it requires defeating security measures…of which there were none.
Go the banks, anyone got any substantial amounts “invested”??? Privatise the profits, socialise the loss is becoming the norm. Time to spend what little I have.
The banks just go from scam to scam.
NZ banks buy into covered bonds
Covered bonds can make bank depositors nervous because in the event of a bank failing, investors in this instrument take precedence over them.
They’ve been illegal in Australia since 1959 but are a familiar sight in many other countries.
