Just been talking to one of the world wide house removal co.’s
Busy as anything. Shipping peoples household stuff to Aussie.
Accords with people I meet daily with my work and many of the local businessplaces. Workshops that I have been to in the last week all without work.

There is no up turn around this area. Quite the reverse.
So. how is it that economists everywhere are able to foretell that its all getting better and the recession is all over.
The sooner those people are made redundant the better.

Further Winz are now behaving like clowns.
They are absolutley refusing to assist anyone which is leaving good people in dire straits.
Same tatics as last time the Nats. were in power.
If the Nats margin is narrowing then they have themselves to blame.

Some will say good job. Most know that I take a tough line with this but what I’ve seen in the last few days makes me ashamed to be a kiwi taxpayer.

United Future are having a crack at a peripheral issue on National Super, but if they can address the problem of pushing Super out of reach for some people by allowing an early age option then it may make it easier to address the over all age and costs problem.

the actions of students In Riccarton and police response is not new. I remember a milkman complaining about the son of a judge being let off after having been caught stealing milk money (would be bad for his career). Then there were the “good kids” (son of a prominent lawyer) who were let off after mowing down a security guard with Dads 4×4, outside Chch Girls High School (leaving him critically injured) etc, etc. What’s more these parties don’t just happen, the stereos are given a good blatt in the afternoons before the party cranks up. When noise control leave they crank it up louder.
Mind you it’s good for urban renewal: all those syndicates owning the run down properties of Riccarton? 😉

Attn David Garret: who makes these laws that say they have 2 hours to comply and after a week they are back in credit and can do it again; Geoffrey (“prison shouldn’t be for punishment”) Palmer?

Did anyone else hear Phil Goff say this morning that he refused to get a briefing on the “Israelis in ChCh” story? His reason – That knowing the truth would inhibit his ability to ask public questions and try to embarrass the Government. WTF?

However Labour leader Phil Goff’s critical of the move.

“Clearly the Prime Minister has been embarrassed by this, he hasn’t disclosed this to New Zealanders,” he told Newstalk ZB. “Now he’s launching a witch hunt to find the person that’s responsible for telling New Zealanders what that that person obviously felt New Zealanders deserved to know.”

Mr Goff says it’s highly unusual for its members to leak material to journalists.

“Perhaps that indicated the degree of frustration that exists within that organisation when a Government and a Prime Minister is not being open with the public.”

He says he’s not convinced by John Key’s explanations but won’t be asking for a formal briefing at this stage.

“To be briefed when the Government has kept this to itself and hasn’t been straight with the public would minimise the opportunity I have now to raise questions on behalf of New Zealanders as a whole.”

Goff is known as a Palestinian sympathiser: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=3504201, therefore his criticisms of John Key come as no surprise.
Goff is under some deluded impression that there is more to come on the untimely and regretful deaths of Israeli nationals in the Christchurch quake, some sort of sinister alternative to their visit to New Zealand. Under the circumstances it would be more appropriate to send condolences to the families of the deceased, however Goff has not done that.

Labour will re-engineer the tax system to bring New Zealand in line with the rest of the developed world, so those who can afford the least aren’t supporting those who could contribute more.

Those that can “afford the least” are being supported, they’re not supporting others.

Mr Morgan told Coroner Gordon Matenga that making high-visibility clothing mandatory for cyclists could discourage people from cycling altogether, which could lead to an increase in widespread health problems from inactivity.

It would also send a message to people that cycling was more dangerous than it really was, he said.

“Some people have a personal preference that they don’t want to dress in that manner, and we need to be really cautious about anything that makes it seem dorky or un-cool.

“It can be a barrier to what is overall an extremely healthy activity.”

You have a gift for understatement. At the same time the road lice are indicating that high visibility clothing would make them look like the dorks many of them are they moot lowering speed limits & ten yearly retesting of drivers.

It would seem that everyone else should be inconvenienced so that a small group of self righteous health nuts can carry on with ignoring lanes, lights, give way signs, stop signs & pedestrians as is their wont.

Of course on the road the motorist has the moral high ground commensurate with the relative mass of vehicle and passenger. If resource depletion is an issue (not that I’m suggesting it is) and if global warming is an issue (not that I’m suggesting it is) the moral argument comes tumbling down. 😉

David (silent T) has confrimed that Kiwisaver funds that trade shares will pay 15% on their capital gains. So as most savers are in funds that have an NZ or O/seas share component there will be a significant reduction in the growth of their capital.

the longer to 65 the worse. Its a cumulative tax. A 25/30 year old will lose 15% of each dollar of capital gain over a 35 to 40 year period.

the compounding effect will be staggering. Are there any Actuaries out there who can do the sums.

The only issue is who is a share trader. The IRD have never clarified how many share trades a year makes for a share trader. Now they will have to set a number.

Say its 10. I and others will make sure we trade our best capital gain shares up to the 10 and pay 15% rather than the marginal rate of 39% proposed by Labour.

the net result will see less trades and less capital flows thru the market defeating what Labour et al want to see.

Again more unintended consquences from dunb morons who dont understand the market and market participants

THE YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT SCANDAL

We think of countries like France and the United States as having shocking rates of youth unemployment (see my Friday Graph of 15 July for the United States). And indeed they do. In those countries youth unemployed as a percent of total unemployed is around 25%. This is a far higher rate than in earlier decades when labour markets were less regulated.

But the chart shows that it is New Zealand that stands out with youth unemployment being 45% of total unemployment, the worst outcome in the OECD.

Hawkins said KiwiSaver and a variety of other retirement and superannuation schemes currently don’t pay CGT on share trading on all NZ shares, and nor do they do so on most Australian listed equities.

A written response from Labour finance spokesman David Cunliffe to Hawkins says “in circumstances in which there would currently be no tax payable on capital gains, the 15% capital gains tax would tend to apply”. Hawkins maintains this is “very different to the impression that the CGT policy release conveys.” Labour has said KiwiSaver payouts will be exempt from the proposed CGT.

Well, now there’s the new Toddler Miracle Diet! Over the years, you may have noticed that most two years olds are trim. Now the formula to their success is available to all in this new diet. You may want to consult your doctor before embarking on this diet, otherwise, you may be seeing him afterwards. Good luck!

—— Day One
Breakfast: One scrambled egg, one piece of toast with jam. Eat two bites of egg using your fingers, dump the rest on the floor. Take one bite of toast then smear the jam over your face and clothes. Lunch: Four crayons (any colour), a handful of potato chips and a glass of milk ( three sips only, then spill the rest). Dinner: A dry stick, two pennies & a ten cent piece, four sips of flat Cocoa Cola. Bedtime snack: Throw a piece of toast on the kitchen floor.

—— Day Two
Breakfast: Pick up stale toast from kitchen floor and eat it. Drink half a bottle of vanilla extract or one vial of vegetable dye. Lunch: Half a tube of “Pulsating Pink” lipstick and a handful of Purina Dog Chow (any flavour). One ice cube, if desired. Afternoon Snack: Lick an all day sucker until sticky, take outside, drop in dirt. Retrieve and continue slurping until it is clean again. Then bring inside and drop on the rug. Dinner: A rock or an uncooked bean, which should be thrust up your left nostril. Pour grape Vita Fresh over mashed potatoes, eat with a spoon.

Breakfast: Two pancakes with plenty of golden syrup, eat one with fingers, rub in hair. Glass of milk, drink half, stuff other pancake in glass. After breakfast, pick up yesterday’s sucker from rug, lick off fuzz, put it on the cushion of your best chair. Lunch: Three matches, peanut butter and jam sandwich. Spit several bites onto the floor. Pour glass of milk on table and slurp up. Dinner: Dish of ice cream, handful of potato chips, some Ribena. Try to laugh some Ribena through nose, if possible.

— Final Day
Breakfast: A quarter tube of toothpaste (any flavour), bit of soap, an olive. Pour a glass of milk over bowl of cornflakes, add half a cup of sugar. Once cereal is soggy, drink milk and feed cereal to dog. Lunch: Eat bread crumbs off kitchen floor and dining room carpet. Find that sucker and finish eating it. Dinner: A glass of spaghetti and chocolate milk. Leave meatball on plate. Stick of mascara for dessert.

The guy expresses gratitude and leaves for home, where his
wife has dinner waiting. When dinner is finished, she goes
to the kitchen to bring dessert. The man hastily pulls the
pills from his pocket and drops one into his wife’s coffee.
He reflects for a moment, hesitates, then drops in a second
pill.

Then he begins to worry. The doctor did say they were
powerful. Then inspiration strikes — he drops one pill into
his own coffee. His wife returns with the shortcake and they
enjoy their dessert and coffee. Sure enough, a few minutes
after they finish, his wife shudders a little, sighs deeply
and heavily, and a strange look comes over her. In a

Just after 5 o’clock tonight I did a bit of maths for Jason Morrison. But it’s so staggering it?s worth repeating now.
First though; here’s what Ex- P.M. Rudd has been saying about – what he calls – these temporary borrowings

Remember Those Words : Temporary Deficit.

The total Government debt could end up around $200 billion.
So here’s a very basic calculation ?.. I used a home loan calculator to work it out….. it’s that simple.
$200 billion is $200,000 million.

The current 10 year Government bond rate is 4.67 per cent. I worked the loan out over a period of 20 years.
Now here’s where it gets scary …… really scary.

The repayments on $200 billion, come to more than one and a quarter billion dollars – every month – for 20 years.
It works out we – as taxpayers – will be repaying $15..4 billion in interest and principal every year . $733 for every man woman and child – every year.

The total interest bill over the 20 years is – get this – $108 billion.
Remember, this is a! Government, that just 18 months ago, had NO debt . NO debt.

In fact it had enough money to create the Future Fund, to pay the future liabilities of public servants’ superannuation..
… and it had enough to stick $20 billion into the Building Australia Fund last year …..

The chief of the world’s leading physics lab at CERN in Geneva has prohibited scientists from drawing conclusions from a major experiment. The CLOUD (“Cosmics Leaving Outdoor Droplets”) experiment examines the role that energetic particles from deep space play in cloud formation. CLOUD uses CERN’s proton synchrotron to examine nucleation.

CERN Director General Rolf-Dieter Heuer told Welt Online that the scientists should refrain from drawing conclusions from the latest experiment.

“I have asked the colleagues to present the results clearly, but not to interpret them,” reports veteran science editor Nigel Calder on his blog. Why?

Because, Heuer says, “That would go immediately into the highly political arena of the climate change debate. One has to make clear that cosmic radiation is only one of many parameters.”

The unusual “gagging order” could have been issued because the results of CLOUD are really, really boring, muses Calder. Or, it could be that the experiment invites a politically unacceptable hypothesis on climate.

This is a new category of scientific hypothesizing I haven’t come across before. How interesting. I wonder what the formula is?

reid – re HAMAD… it’s interesting how this (and countless, year-on-year oil wealth excesses) pass without comment while the US’s decision to restrict aid to Somalia because it was being hijacked by warlords is lambasted as unjust, selfish, inhumane etc. In 2007 Abu Dhabi’s oil revenue was $US300m per week. Of this, $100m was spent on ‘infrastructure’, $100m on foreign investments, and $100m went directly to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed for his casual dispensation to family and Emiraties. Remember with was weekly! I wonder how much when to help the needy in the region?

I mean…

We must be, to tolerate the completely, transparently superficial misdirected mind-numbing bollocks this world calls the fucking MSM.

It has to be them – the MSM, otherwise it’s us. And if it’s us, how come some of us can do all that clever shit like put a man on the moon and all that, if all we’re apparently inherently interested in, is who Tom Cruise woke up with last night in a Wyoming dumpster?
