  1. Pete George (17,596) Says:

I’ve collated some reasons why Labour is failing to get traction.

    Anti-Labour Conspiracies

There are many things conspiring against Labour, there must be for them to be continually performing poorly in polls and for getting so much negative media coverage. Labour are the only party that can rescue the country from financial ruin, and they are the only party that can eliminate poverty and get everyone into employment.

Labour supporters have suggested a range of conspiracies that are preventing their recovery.

The only real conspiracy is self inflicted.

The money has been put aside by the council for projects that mitigate the adverse environmental effects of the city’s sewerage system, including effects that offend Maori cultural and spiritual values.”

So, 250 grand is being awarded to the maoris to study how poo might offend them?

This is a council who are raising rates by 30% over 3 years and the only reason it is not higher is because they deferred debt repayments to later years.

    Why oh why?

Well said Pete. Labour MP’s and activists still seem to be in denial after almost three years on the Opposition benches. It’s almost as though they had adopted the “born to rule” mentality they so scorn National for. But one thing is for sure; the voting public needs to see sackcloth and ashes from Labour before they turn back to the Red Team, not the prevailing attitude which is that Labour was right and the voters were wrong.

More bad news for the Mother Gaia worshippers.

‘Polar Bears are Drowning’ Scientist Put on Leave, Investigated

It’s been a bad day for AGW scientists. NASA pokes a hole in their climate models (http://blogs.forbes.com/jamestaylor/2011/07/27/new-nasa-data-blow-gaping-hold-in-global-warming-alarmism/)
and now the scientist behind the article that hyped the plight of the polar bears is under investigation (http://news.yahoo.com/apnewsbreak-arctic-scientist-under-investigation-082217993.html).
While it wasn’t clear what the exact allegations are, a government watchdog group representing Anchorage-based scientist Charles Monnett said investigators have focused on his 2006 journal article about the bears that garnered worldwide attention.
The group, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, filed a complaint on Monnett’s behalf Thursday with the agency, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.

BOEMRE told Monnett on July 18 that he was being put on leave, pending an investigation into “integrity issues.” The investigator has not yet told him of the specific charges or questions related to the scientific integrity of his work, said Jeff Ruch, the watchdog group’s executive director.
A BOEMRE spokeswoman, Melissa Schwartz, acknowledged there was an “ongoing internal investigation” but declined to get into specifics about it.
Whatever the outcome or the nature of the allegations, the investigation could fuel the ongoing fight between climate change activists and those who are skeptical of scientists’ findings about global warming. The probe also focuses attention on an Obama administration policy intended to protect scientists from political interference.

I don’t know whether to be angry …. or laugh. :-)

Let’s consider being angry perhaps. A man has quoted (select) passages from the bible in order to justify attacking a helicopter. Normally this would raise hackles with most people (no matter what their political persuasion). But it seems in this case, in appears to be “ok” because it was a “leftie” who attacked the helicopter.

Yup, peace-loving pacifist Bryla attacked an ADF helicopter recently:
    http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/breaking-news/chopper-protester-claims-bible-motive/story-e6freonf-1226100798165
His missus (Margaret Pestorius) was also arrested for trespassing into a restricted military area:
    http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/breaking-news/protester-arrested-for-chopper-damage/story-e6freonf-1226099023604

Ok let’s consider laughing (and not being angry) perhaps. Here’s a video of Bryla attacking the helicopter! I must say it was jolly convenient of his fellow peacenik comrade to video the attack, I’m sure the Police will use it an an exhibit in their prosecution. It’s somewhat comedic of Bryla to be trundling off on his bicycle (tricycle?) so at least perhaps I should give him some credit for walking the walk and talking the talk and use an environmentally sustainable eco-friendly vehicle to mount the attack! I wonder if it will inspire our local Global Peace and Justice types, to also be as considerate as Bryla and think about the environment when protesting next, like they did the other day against Tony Blair – I hope GP&J didn’t use gas guzzling environmental un-PC cars by chance?

Is there a moral to this story? Presumably if members of the public see a Bryla type on a bicycle protesting/attacking a piece of NZ Govt property, then best one don’t biff ‘em off their bikes in case the NZ Police instead charge joe public for “assault” of a protestor? ;-)

So 24% is about one quarter. But considering isn’t “planning” as they said in their byline.

And I’m not sure why we always need these stories. I guess it’s because they’re so cheap and easy to write, and always provoke “debate”. It’s not really news, more of a survey result.

Meanwhile, Lovely Labour Lickspittle Len Brown has been caught with his fingers in the till again!

City confesses – and cost of Brown’s flyer soars

By Bernard Orsman 5:30 AM Friday Jul 29, 2011

The Auckland Council has confessed that the cost of a message from Mayor Len Brown to ratepayers was $376,774 – not the $200,000 quoted in a council email.

About 500,000 copies of the glossy flyer were sent to every ratepayer, despite concerns from one of Mr Brown’s senior advisers that there were cheaper and more effective ways to communicate a message on rates.

The flyer included a letter from the mayor praising the council for making cost savings in hard times to keep the rates increase down to 3.94 per cent.

Mr Brown did not tell ratepayers the council had set aside $516,000 for an information campaign about the new rating system, of which $376,774 was spent on producing, printing and posting out the flyer.

The rest of the money was spent on an insert into the first rates mailout next month, and on advertising.

On Wednesday, Mr Brown’s office and the council media unit refused to give a breakdown of the cost of the flyer after the Herald obtained, under the Official Information Act, a council email putting it at $200,000.

After another request yesterday, the Herald was given the true cost.

An email trail showed Mr Brown’s chief press secretary, Glyn Jones, and senior political adviser Conor Roberts were keen on the flyer after council officials referred it to the mayor’s office.

Another senior mayoral adviser, former Papakura District Council chief executive Theresa Stratton, agreed it was a good idea but “quite an expensive exercise”.

She said it would be much cheaper if it were included in next month’s first rates mailout.

Yesterday, Mr Brown said he was not told of Ms Stratton’s concerns about the flyer’s cost and effectiveness.

“If it costs a little bit of money to ensure people are well informed about the thing that is most critical to them, and that’s their rates, then I suspect it is a cost well spent,” he said.

Councillor Cameron Brewer said the flyer was an outrageous way to use ratepayers’ money.

He said Mr Brown was “using this flyer not just to explain the facts, but to make himself look better politically”.

The bartender is disgusted. “Did you see what your monkey did now?”, he asks. “What now?”, responds the patron. “Well, he stuck a grape up his arse, then pulled it out and ate it”, says the barkeeper.

    Europe Died at Auschwitz

There is absolutely nothing I can add to this.

The following is a copy of an article written by Spanish writer
Sebastian Vilar Rodriguez and published in a Spanish newspaper on

REMEMBER AS YOU READ — IT WAS IN A SPANISH PAPER
    Date: Tue. 15 January 2008 14:30

ALL EUROPEAN LIFE DIED IN AUSCHWITZ By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez

I walked down the street in Barcelona , and suddenly discovered a
terrible truth – Europe died in Auschwitz . We killed six million
Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we
burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We destroyed the
chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and
wonderful people who changed the world.

The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life:
science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience
of the world. These are the people we burned.

And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove
to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened
our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and
ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and
poverty, due to an unwillingness to work and support their families
    with pride.

They have blown up our trains and turned our beautiful Spanish
cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime.

Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the government,
they plan the murder and destruction of their naive hosts.

And thus, in our misery, we have exchanged culture for fanatical
hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for
    backwardness and superstition.

We have exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and
their talent for a better future for their children, their
determined clinging to life because life is holy, for those who
pursue death, for people consumed by the desire for death for
themselves and others, for our children and theirs.

What a terrible mistake was made by miserable Europe …….

The Jews are NOT promoting brain washing children in military
training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause
maximum deaths of Jews and other non Muslims. The Jews don’t
hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics, or blow
themselves up in German restaurants. There is NOT one single Jew
who has destroyed a church. There is NOT a single Jew who protests
    by killing people.

The Jews don’t traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad
and death to all the Infidels.

Perhaps the world’s Muslims should consider investing more in
standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their
    problems.

Muslims must ask ‘what can they do for humankind’ before they
    demand that humankind respects them.

Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the
Palestinians and Arab neighbors, even if you believe there is more
culpability on Israel ‘s part, the following two sentences really
    say it all:

‘If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more
violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would
be no more Israel .” Benjamin Netanyahu

General Eisenhower Warned Us It is a matter of history that when
the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight
Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all
possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from
surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made
    to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect:

‘Get it all on record now – get the films – get the witnesses –
because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up
and say that this never happened’

Recently, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its
school curriculum because it ‘offends’ the Muslim population which
claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet. However, this
is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and
how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe
ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of
the, 6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians,
and 1,900 Catholic priests who were ‘murdered, raped, burned,
starved, beaten, experimented on and humiliated’ while the German
    people looked the other way.

Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the
Holocaust to be ‘a myth,’ it is imperative to make sure the world
    never forgets.

This e-mail is intended to reach 400 million people. Be a link in
the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade
Center ‘NEVER HAPPENED’ because it offends some Muslim in the
    United States ?

“Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica – where do they go?
    Wonder no more!!!
It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.
The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.
If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:
    “Freeze a jolly good fellow.”

Gerard Otimi has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, with leave to apply for home detention.
Otimi scammed overstayers by claiming if they paid him $500, it would allow them to be part of his hapu and avoid being deported.
