Is anybody else having problems with TV3’s on demand website?

I am trying to watch the first episode of NZ underbelly and the bloody thing says it will not load.

One day while doing door-to-door market research, this guy knocks on a door and is greeted by a beautiful young housewife.

“Hello,” he starts, “I’m doing some research for a petroleum jelly manufacturer. Have you ever used the product?”

“Yes. My husband and I use it during sex,” she answers.

The researcher is taken aback. “Um, er, I admire you for your honesty,” he continues. “Can you tell me exactly how you use it?”

“Sure, we put it on the doorknob so the kids can’t get in.”

Given that the VC won by Apiata was the first to be titled “Victoria cross for New Zealand” I suspect that it was not entirely down to the Poms to award it.

Having said that I must stress that in no way would it diminish the award or the brave deeds of Corporal Apiata, I imagine the criteria for winning a VC for NZ would be just as tough and from what I have read does not cheapen Apiata’s award in any way.

Now that we have our own VC we should bloody well have our own version of the George Cross as well.

Disagree bb, I’m a monarchist.

FFS, we’ve already given away, for free, the Privy Council – the best legal minds on Earth, better than the US Supreme Court (arguably), for relatively provincial country lawyers housed in a tin-clad monstrosity on the flat beneath the hill upon which Parliament sits.

That’s a statement of relative power and not in a good way.

And why?

Was it broken?

And so forth.

You and me both, I have no great love for the monarchy but it is infinitely superior to anything we might cook up.

I know that republicans like DPF and co always say that there should be controls as to who might be our President but I simply do not trust our politicians when it comes to giving away jobs to their mates.

Frankly the prospect of President Bolger or Clark horrifies me, I will stick with the dysfunctional Pommy Royals thanks.

We got rid of the George Cross at the same time as the VC became the VC for NZ. It was replaced by the NZ Cross. We also got a range of subsidiary awards below the VC and NZC to replace the previous Imperial wards.

Still, the Bank of Israel study shows that while the United States, Britain and Germany have much less concentration of wealth than Israel, it is not so different from several other democracies. Based on the holdings of the 10 largest business families, Israel is in about the same situation as Switzerland, France and Belgium, and its wealth is far less concentrated than is the case in Sweden.

Isn’t that interesting. I wonder what the lefties would have to say about that? Let’s hope Key grows some balls and announces we’re aiming for Sweden, wealth-disparity-wise.
