Quote of the Week
September 10th, 2011 at 12:06 pm by David FarrarThe NZ Herald reports on the Pacific Forum:
McCully has been up to his elbows in the detail of organisation, making Helen Clarks’ micro-management style look like neglect.
Heh that is such a great quote. Mind you Murray will like the previous sentence:
The diplomatic corps has been wildly complimentary about the forum. “Spectacular” one described it yesterday – both in terms of organisation and diplomatic opportunities.
MFAT will be relieved. A happy McCully is a relatively benign McCully.

I laughed at the media solemnly reporting one tinpot Pacific leader saying his main island was only 5 metres above sea level and they would be submerged because of global warming. How high exactly do the doomsayers claim the sea is going to rise? Most of Christchurch is already below sea level. What horrors are in store for us?
Or is the rise actually going to be measured in centimetres and this is yet another ploy to get even more aid so nobody needs to do much work.

This and the world cup was designed to get Helen Clark into a 5th term of government. Instead it has been icing on the cake for John key. McCully has been successful at broadening the focus of the forum to the wider international players. He did not allow Fiji to dominate the forum. Too often chogm was dominated by first south Africa and now Zimbabwe. I think mcCully has shown the way.

A pity he wasn’t also up to his elbows making sure the World Cup got off to a good start. Not that he’ll take an ounce of responsibility after more than 2 years in charge. That’s our Murray…

That’s right Nick R. It’s Auckland and Len Brown’s responsibility, says Murray:
