Labour on Key
October 27th, 2011 at 11:00 am by David FarrarAn unusual media strategy from Labour’s Campaign Spokesman Grant Robertson:
I think that everyone can see that John Key is an extremely popular Prime Minister …
I hope Grant keeps on talking about how Key is so popular, and what he is implying about his own leader.

It’s an attempt to get around the Presidential style campaign which Key has a monopoly on, and a realisation that Goff will be rolled post-election.

Brilliant work from that giant cock garage, Robertson.
National must be paying him.

The full quote: “I think that everyone can see that John Key is an extremely popular Prime Minister but what we are presenting to the public is a party with a plan, with policy and with talent right across the board that can deliver.”
Not quite the same implication…

“and with talent right across the board that can deliver.”
I don’t think it’s wise to promote that part of the statement.

It makes no difference to me – Ive decided to give my party vote the Conservative party. Their flyer is without doubt the best one Ive ever seen.
Finally someone is saying something bold and ‘out there’

Not going to vote for him but give Grant his due. It’s very tired that Politicians have always to say that everything about what they support is good, and everything about what they don’t support is bad. Grant points out that Jphn key is very popular, that true, and only in the weird world of politics would somebody say not. DPF – you need to get out more.

But the policies of the labour party are lousy as well. They think a cgt will bring them all this money to spend but asset values are flat. Only the labour party think there is money in that. Because the labour party are not being taken seriously they will not get much scrutiny for their policies. But the popularity of key has them spooked. They cannot win if they are not promoting their leader for prime minister.

Barry(640) Great to see you give your vote to the Conservative Party on the basis of its opportunistic, short term, semi-socialist message. You have unlimited faith
Vote:Never had any time to be questioned on its true values, concerns and who it actually will support in coalition.
Its policies are not conservat6ve, populist mainly !!

The Labour Party don’t get taken seriously because they overhype everything. Floating some shares in state owned entities is “selling our assets”. Creating competition for ACC is “privatisation”. etc etc etc. Jeez, bloody Goff can’t be brutually honest about anything.
So good on Robertson for basically admitting that Labour cannot win a popularity contest. I listened to Hekia Parata on Nat Rad this morning trying like hell to avoid saying the Government will not consider compensating retailers and others who suffer loss from the Maui gas pipe outage. Why couldn’t she just come out and say “No way. Why the hell should we?”. The trouble is this Government has giving away so much bloody money, that now whenever anything happens there is an expectation that those affected can look to the Government for money. That’s bullshit. Life has risks. Deal with it people. Stop expecting the bloody Government to act like a wet nurse all the time.
