Logan Edgar for OUSA President

October 6th, 2011 at 2:00 pm by David Farrar

I’ve criticised some of ’s antics as President, but I have to give hum full marks for his re-election video. It is hilarious, and his range of endorsements are impressive, covering the political spectrum. He deserves a second term.

Of course the only politician who actually endorsed him was Gareth Hughes. The rest are just made to look like they endorsed him.

The video is very well done though.

Now we’ve seen the quality of electioneering in student politics.

Did you catch his policies? I didn’t.

How many people want to vote for this guy to represent them? And how many want to pay $90 per year to fund his 30k salary and any other spending this guy approves?

    Thank god for VSM.

$90 per year? What decade is this? The 1980′s? OUSA levies this year were $190.52.

Small price to pay if you want 15% off your textbooks and free medium fries with your purchase at McDonald’s.

Nothing of substance, full of nonsense.

    Yep, par for the course.

What do you think of your leading conservative Christian candidate Rick Perry’s campaign commercial above Shunda? Any substance there?

Funny how Lee01 supports Paul over Romney because Romney is a Mormon, yet fails to realise that Paul supports the rights of gays to be who they are yet he doesn’t. Do Christians hate Mormons more than gays?

You have a problem, you really do.

Firstly, why the hell you would think this guy has anything to do with me (your?? wtf??)

But to answer your question, no, I don’t think there is any substance to it at all nor do I think there are any US leaders of any substance at present.

I think many evangelical protestants can’t work out that politicians shouldn’t be priests and vice-versa. And, though they claim to believe it, can’t separate the human societies and the Kingdom of God. Catholics (well the Church, but maybe not all Catholics) have a better grasp of these things. I think this is because evangelical protestants are poorly versed in human and church history.

Thus the irony that you’re pointing out. Which is pretty classic. I’d tend to vote Romney – he’s probably better at running the politics of US presidency than Perry.

This is a clearer statement of Perry’s policies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhDhDRvHaGs

    Absolutely spot on.

From my experience with evangelical Christianity in NZ (and two trips to the States) this is exactly the issue.

I presumed that you supported him given that he wants to make it constitutional that marriage is between a man and woman only (effectively making it impossible for gay marriage to be made into law).

One could be forgiven for perceiving the complete lack of substance in this video as being derived from an astute knowledge of his apathetic target demographic. Having had the doubtful privilege of conversing with Edgar, I am obliged to point out that this is in fact because Logan himself struggles to structure even the most basic of reasoned arguments, instead favoring the loud repetition of phrases murmured to him by nearby OUSA minions.

Is Logan likely to engage the OUSA populace more than his rivals? Yes.

Is this enough to make him a good president? No.

I am ashamed to be represented by someone as inarticulate as Logan Edgar, and have little, if any, confidence in his ability to represent me as an OUSA member. We held an OUSA election, and the joke candidate won. That same candidate now has a fighting chance of being elected for a second term, on the basis of little other than his lol-factor.

Could students have made it any clearer? OUSA is no joke, it’s a full-on comedy show, and Logan Edgar is the opening act.

I won’t be buying tickets next year.

Logan Edgar is a double agent working for ACT. His sabotage has been enormously beneficial for the pro-VSM conspiracy.

You didn’t hear it from me. :P
