Tonga beats France

Well done Tonga – a great performance to beat France 19-14. Sadly France still go through to the quarter-finals as Tonga had lost to Canada earlier.

    And with the kick-off looming, something in the dim, dark corner of my mind is the memory of a scottish heritage. And they don’t cheat! Scotland with a bonus point win and England – zip.

    I hate to gloat, but Keeping Stock first tipped this result on 5th September, then again this morning.

    Who needs Sonny Wool or Pai=ul the Octopus when you have Inventory the Oracle?

    Strictly speaking, if Canada beat NZ by 4 tries and get a bonus point, that would push France out….

    You’d have to wonder whether throwing the match in a performance almost as embarassing as a certain underarm bowling affair might be a good idea….

    Interesting hypothesis PaulL; but I don’t know if Canada would even need a bonus point. They already have a win and a draw, whereas the All Blacks will qualify top of Pool A regardless of tomorrow’s result. Maybe that’s why Sir Richie and Sir Dan are having a day off…

    And didn’t the Ruskies do well against Australia?

    I got Tonga at $12 head to head. The French headcases were never going to turn up to a game they didn’t have to win…
    (You can’t trust them in knock out matches though…)

    Enjoyed the tussle at Eden Park also, The many people I hear rubbishing England’s performance obviously don’t know their rugby. Scotland always play out of their skin and lift for matches against the old enemy, it was always going to be a brutal encounter..

    Stupid bonus points, both teams won two matches so Tonga should go through because they won the head to head…no justice

    It doesn’t matter whetther France goes thru to the 1/4 final (which they are), we won against them which is the ultimate price. Yeeha.
