Merry Christmas DPF and to all readers and commentators.

I’ve just been kicked out of the Auckland Babtist Tabernacle Church at corner of K’Rd and upper Queen St for drinking alcohol in the church, a whisky hipflask that I sneaked into their Christmas Carol Singing service (supported by the church’s band). So, now all the bars along Ponsonby & K’Rd are closed at 12pm, I’m gonna go and look for Kava party somewhere. I know that the religious die-hard at the church hall for the Tongan Methodist in Grey Lynn are up drinking Kava (plus some alcohol), so I’m gonna take my remaining whisky bottle there and join them.

Don’t drink & drive boys & girls and merry new year, happy christmas.

PS : I still have to get up early in the morning (even with the whiskey & Kava drinking later on) to roast a pig (spit roast) for afternoon christmas lunch. I’ve got a tray of Steinies to keep me cool till the pig is cooked (approximately 3 hours).

Ironic how Churches are so anti-wine when Jesus was all about bringing wine to the party and telling people to become vampires of wine.

@Falafulu Fisi – at our church we use real wine for communion (eg Pinot Noir, Merlot etc); perhaps you should join us. 🙂 So not “anti-wine”, but no hard liquor, sorry! Also Zarbo bread with cheese. I should add that grape juice is also available. It has become a time of true fellowship with the “breaking of bread” in Jesus’ name, meeting with friends and making new ones, and no-one in a hurry to leave.

But no service today, as most are spending time with family. I am currently awaiting the arrival of a horde of grandchildren. It will be great fun for all.

Best wishes for the Christmas season to DPF and commenters at KB – I don’t comment often but do read comments most days, although some commenters have earned instant scrolling.

Pet dog managed to open a box of truffles when we were out last night. It doesn’t eat — it inhales food. Spent the night bouncing off walls, beds and trying to score with the cat so we finally got to sleep around 5. Lovely day in Central. New bikes are evident on the road.

Merry Christmas everyone!

We started with a church service in a local park – the church building is off limits until it has been inspected again, for the umpteenth time, and given the all clear. Oh well, it’s only a building. Nice to spend the time outside with friends and family, singing in the sunshine!
