Who has the numbers?
December 5th, 2011 at 8:23 am by David FarrarA very nicely done video by Whale of a duck counting numbers in caucus. If the numbers are accurate then Shearer would win 19 votes to 16. I presume there are 35 votes as it is not yet known whether Burns or Huo are in caucus.
Whale also has a conspiracy theory that almost all of Shearer’s endorsements have come from those who were at Matthew Hooton’s bbq last Sunday. Of course I wasn’t at the bbq (I was celebrating with friends down at the Viaduct), and have said I think Shearer represents a better chance for Labour to win in 2014.

Sheare’s supposed ‘glory days’ are back in the ’90s. He has been a nonentity in Parliament. He looks old and tired. A perfect foil to John Key’s sunny optimism, youthful exuberance and, most important, proven leadership. No wonder Shearer is getting so much support.
Vote:His mates like Goff and Mallard will pull be the puppetmasters and pull his strings.
They don’t want Cunliffe who has some political credibility and strength.

Shearer has so far failed to show he’s up to leadership – coming across as a nice guy and different aren’t enough.
Cunliffe is high risk for Labour too – he isn’t exactly a Labour base type natural even though the union faction seem to be supporting him, and the middle New Zealand voters are more likely to be suspicious of him.
Cunliffe also seems to think the game is about beating Key – including the use of attack politics (he has shown glimpses of a nasty side) – and the beat Key strategies in 2008 through to and this year haven’t gotten them anywhere but down.
The Clark/Cullen leadership vacuum is still hoovering over Labour.

The head-to-head debates over the weekend on The Nation and Q&A were revealing. Personally, I think Shearer has the better resume and ‘story’ to tackle Key in 2014, but Cunliffe absolutely owned him in the two debates. I thought after Shearer’s poor performance on Saturday on The Nation we would see him up his game for the following morning on Q&A, but he stuttered, stumbled and waffled again. If he does win, he’ll need some serious work re. television skills.

Another lucrative contract for Brian Edwards who did so well with Phil Goff!
Interesting we are now being told the Labour leadership was no good, their policies were rubbish, their campaign missed the point and they had little support from their own. Why didn’t they or the media let us know all this before the election?
Is Labour so cynical and deceitful and the media so dumb, the electorate is fed crap? No wonder so many don’t bother to vote.

Arrogant and smarmy Silent T will win the debates hands-down and will be elevated to the position of socialist leader.

Cart before horse?
Labour should surely have icaretaker leadership until they have done their reviews and worked out how they want to move forward, then they will know what sort of leader would suit best.

Who cares about Silent T, who cares about Sheerer? Who cares about Phool Goof, who cares that Aunty Helen advises the losers?
Vote:They lost, we won. They are not part of the picture for 3 years. Let’s enjoy 2 years until they start the nasty campaining again.
