I call bullshit, and not just because I think Slater is toxic. There is NO way Ben Gracewood (ben.geek.nz) only gets 9 visits a month. NO WAY. The guys has heaps of twitter followers, updates quite a bit and actively engages with people, it’s just not possible, not to mention that there is no way on the internet to track this stuff, short of full disclosure (which, to your credit DPF, you do, as do the standard and Danyl periodically (tbh the only blogs I consistently check)).

Interesting, but from what I can see, ultimately meaningless.

Hang on a minute don’t The Strandard claim to be the top site in the country? Looks like that’s another lie. Although I look forward to the claims by Stranded that the numbers are wrong.

I am actually enjoying the travel blogging. Perhaps this can be the new direction for Kiwiblog?

Seems odd that Slater’s blog purportedly has more visits but has far fewer comments than Kblog. I’d have thought there would be a standard ratio. I wonder if anyone could be bothered to see if there is a correlation between comments and visits with all the blogs listed….

Smells like someones bot to me.

hj, Frogblog did not “instigate censorship”. The comments policy there has always been consistent and comments are censored only if they are in breach of that policy. A small number of commentors have been permanently banned from Frogblog for persistent breaches of the comments policy. You (in your “jh” incarnation) are one of them – you were banned for persistent trolling/threadjacking. You received numerous warnings about this, and a period of your comments being placed in auto-moderation, before that decision was taken.

Cam has been scooping the media and exposed several mis-doings by Labour this year. He got the OIA from the SIS ahead of the media because he asked a week ahead of the rest of the media. (And then they complained about his preferential treatment.) He found Labour were storing credit card details in a way that was publicly accessible. He pointed his readers to several loaded surveys/billboard generators and embarrassed David Cunliffe, the PSA, and Principals Federation.

But, best of all, he got the Labour Party campaign manager to spend six weeks training for a pointless bicycle race. I’m still scratching my head at why Mallard issued that challenge.

Of course Frog is telling blatant lies.

Anybody who dares question the Greens is banned. ‘HJ’ or ‘JH’ was never guilty of thread jacking nor trolling. He/She simply kept asking embarrassing questions of the Greens, as well all know when the Greens are put in a corner like that they simply ban people.

Seems that 2012 will see no change, more blatant lying from the Greens.

Okay, so you are responding to hj’s comment, but in doing so you are complicit in hj’s so called ‘threadjacking’. (Personally I think deliberate thread vandalism is very rare)

The onus is on you not to respond, and if others choose to do so then so be it. The thread may not turn out as you planned it to, but they never do, do they?

But in the end, I suppose the way in which one conducts the proceedings on one’s blog is reflective of one’s attitude towards controlling anything. Some proprietors are interventionists, whereas others are facilitators. Of course, everyone would like to think that they are the latter.
