Harre working for the Greens

March 31st, 2012 at 9:38 am by David Farrar

Stuff reports:

Former Alliance Party leader and Cabinet minister Laila Harre has joined the Green Party’s staff.

Harre will take up the newly created position of issues director and will be based in Auckland.

Heh, issues director. My interpretation of that is she will be effectively the Auckland Campaign Director.

“Laila’s experience in central and local government, coupled with her strong campaigning background, makes her ideally suited to this job.”

The Greens know that keeping their vote high in Auckland is key to retaining over 10% support. Only 3 out of their 14 MPs are Auckland based. I will not be surprised if Harre turns up on their party list.

Well there goes any notion of the Greens moderating their positions to appeal more to the centre

this is great news…i look forward to seeing her influence manifesting..

..and she would make a great mp..(again…)

..put with normans’ flash new haircut…

..you could almost call this a re-badging of the greens..

..(and hopefully a routing of the forces of conservatism leavened with timidity so prevalent there for some time now..)

Longknives – yes. That’s a condition of Green membership and/or employment. That said, I have enjoyed her sense of humour on occasions. One that I recall was her suggesting that Helen Clark was a ‘sex bomb’ because Labour had very low standards :D

I hear the Clinton “Steve Pierson” Smith is on board as well; that’ll give the Greens a direct line to The Standard…

Add Normans’ flash new haircut and you could almost call this a re-badging of the Greens. Hopefully, a routing of the forces of conservatism leavened with timidity so prevalent there for some time now”.

Look out Labour. For you, remaining the ‘opposition party’ in 2014 just got a hell of a lot harder.

    Ho ho ho

Wonder what Russel Norman will do with all that extra money which comes with being official “Leader of The Opposition.?”

Wonder if Cunliffe will do any better as Shearer slinks off back to Somalia?

Yes, I agree with Phil U. Whatever you may think of Ms Harre’s views she is a formidably capable politician, something which is distinctly lacking in the Labour Party for the foreseeable future. Let’s face it. How the hell can Labour hope to improve when they’ve got “The Man Who Never Was” as leader and ‘Terminally Tumescent Trevor’ as strategist?

Adolf – Not to mention a nice suite of offices near the Debating Chamber and a CR Beemer on hand – but hey! can there be two Opposition co-leaders – if so Winston would want to be the other co-leader of the Opposition.

At least Labour, New Labour, Alliance and Greens have sort have been splinters of each other with New Labour and the Greens once part of the Alliance.

From memory I think at various times I’ve read that Tau Henare has been a member of the Alliance, possibly Labour, NZ First, Mauri Pacific, and now National.

At least Harre’s politics have never really changed. Her politics seem firmly entrenched in social democracy.

Well I for one am going to enjoy this, I can’t see Harre settling for a functionary role, So both “leaders” should make sure they never turn their backs.

Communists are always looking for a “movement” to infiltrate, they’ve already infiltrated the Greens, and now they are about to move from the mensheviks to the bolsheviks, should be entertaining, wonder who’s first for the reeducation gulag, and which of them will play the Beria role?
