New comments record
March 14th, 2012 at 8:32 am by David FarrarThe thread “Bain says parents made him strong” has set a record in terms of number of comments. It was around 500 or so on a Destiny Church thread, but the Bain thread is now 1,016 comments.
And no I haven’t read all of them, or even most of them!

My phone goes into slow motion when I’m trying to enter a comment on that page.

Imagine the volume of traffic when Justice Ian Binnie refuses to award David Bain compensation, ruling that he has failed to reach the required threshhold of proof. And is “Jinny” really Joe Karam?

The thread is proof positive that when it comes to constructive debate, quality defeats quantity every time. They may be passionate about their beliefs but when it all descends to personal abuse, I lose interest real fast. Perhaps a vote of thanks to Elaycee for holding the fort.

Should be Bainished.

While a record number of comments, the number of actual commentators may not be so great, but still a considerable record of obstinacy, or stupidity, or both.
I trust that Mr Binnie will be required to give a detailed explanation of the decision he arrives at.

Agree, pete. It’s become the bain of their lives.

There’s a couple on there with clear signs of bain damage

Yep and 5008 of them from Jinny and NNZ defending the indefensible.

No doubt that Bain’s parents WERE largely instrumental in shaping what he became. He was right about that. But they could not have known just what a defective human being he would become.

The same small group endlessly rehashing claims and trading insults [referring principally to the newbies who, by their own admission it would seem, have joined us from the Trade Me message boards to keep their flame war over Bain alive.]
I tried following the “discussion” but the endless bickering, sniping, general insults and, quite frankly paranoia, just became so bainal. I realized it was just robin my time.

I think the Bain supporters will be in such a state of apoplexy that they may find it difficult to express themselves.

Difficulty expressing themselves hasn’t stopped them so far

PIA,
That’s true but then they’re under the delusion that Bain is innocent and will receive compo.

I thought you were supposed to worry about things the you have control over. The response on that thread is really quite sad. Reminded me of the film “Hang’em high”.

Most members of the public erm, that’s you and me apparently, are incapable of understanding that white middle-class people wearing home knitted sweaters and who sing in a choir, are actually not always what they seem to be. We appear to be very sluggish in accepting that ordinary looking people can actually do very extraordinary things. Yes, even in New Zealand. Bain defence folk seem incapable of seeing a global picture of crime and criminals.

What happened to Bain, is a clinical thing.
