Yuck
March 23rd, 2012 at 7:27 pm by David FarrarA friend left a part bottle of coke in my fridge. I didn’t look closely at the label and gulped it down, thinking it was my normal Diet Coke. Yuck – it was Vanilla Coke. It is foul stuff. I don’t understand how people can drink it.

You could equally have said:
Vote:“Yuck – it was [any type of] Coke. It is foul stuff. I don’t understand how people can drink it.”

Now you know what any coke tastes like to ordinary people.

You know what Sue Kedgley told you Farrar, read label, “this is coke bad, this will kill you, made in America”

For one glass, I enjoy vanilla coke. Much more than that and the sweetness becomes too much.
But Diet Coke…really? That is the bottom of the coke barrel. That is bad enough to nearly be Pepsi.

You have no taste. Vanilla Coke is far superior to regular Coke.
Vote:Next you’ll be saying you prefer Marmite to Vegemite!
Yuk!

As the owner of the drink in question – David’s reluctance to stock anything other than the most foul DIET Coke meant I have to bring my own. I prefer the Vanilla Coke as it is less harsh on the throat than regular Coke – but regular Coke will do in the absence of the Vanilla variety – I cannot drink any diet drink (Diet Coke or Coke Zero) as I can’t stand the taste of the artificial sweeteners.
As for adulterating Coke with additives (rum/vodka/burbon/etc.) – Heresy!
And for those that can’t stand drinking coke/pepsi/etc – I imagine most, if not all, of you drink coffee, which I cant stand – so don’t bother telling me how awful it is – to me it ain’t and coffee is.
P.S. David – since it is likely that you drank it straight from the bottle – it’s yours.

Fost – I have never liked Coke/Pepsi variants nor coffee. Neither Marmite. I once tried a suggested (on the jar) beverage of Vegemite and that was awful, but if spread lightly on hot buttered toast it is very palatable.

Some people (me included) like olives, others can’t stand them. I enjoy blue cheese, pickled onions, McDonald fries dipped in a caramel sundae, and other food abominations, but won’t eat (drink) soup unless it is also as thick as a stew. I also like both Marmite and Vegemite spread thin on toast. But the Vegemite drink isn’t for me either – but my mother drank it regularly.
So the yuck/yum messages are kind of irrelevant really – everyone has a different list of likes/dislikes.

Yeah, I agree, but Coke v Pepsi, heaps of sugar v chemical sweetener, Marmite v Vegemite, Lion v DB, Ford v Holden, left v right, Kiwiblog v whoar, they all seem to be popular Kiwi debates.

I used to be “addicted” to Pepsi Max – but stopped after I began to notice it in the dentist bill.
Vote:Coke Zero the preferred one now but only very occasionally.

I’m one of the “original coke or nothing” brigade, I made David’s mistake once in buying a coke without noticing it was vanilla coke, and foul stuff indeed. But more surprising, drinking from a stray bottle without checking it first, just asking for a nasty surprise IMHO.
And coffee must be strong and black…

I can tell DPF was truly moved by this experience. His earlier posts entitled Yuck have covered some truly horrible matters!
