Key on Campbell Live

April 22nd, 2012 at 12:11 pm by David Farrar

An in depth interview with John Key on Campbell Live on the issues of the Crafar Farms sales, and the Sky City convention centre.

12 minutes in total.

It would be interesting to count up how often this Prime Minister has done one on one television interviews compared to his predecessors. I may be wrong, but my impression is he does do a reasonable number.

We don’t know how lucky we are to have this man representing us.

You have to give it to him. Imagine working on setting up something that creates 800 jobs with no cost to taxpayers and all you hear is bleating and moaning. If it were me I would have packed it all in 3 years ago and left the ungrateful whinging NZers to borrow and spend until they ran out of other peoples money.

It just goes to show that this guy really has a prosperous future for NZ as his priority hence he just keeps trucking on.

even though he made John Campbell look silly by answering all questions with facts and reminding JC/TV3 that they were around in the early days of the Sky City issue, the very next day we have so-called reporters asking the same questions that Key answered and still coming up with conspiracies .. we really are a country of moaners who want everything from some fictional money tree

Key smoked Campbell. Personally l can not really understand what the fuss is. Just get on the build the thing. In the context of sinking lid on pokies having an additional 500 in one location is probably a good thing. Greater harm is more likely to come from wider distribution of machines throughout the community.

Hmmmmmm, under labour at 2008 election, 18,000 pokies in NZ, 2012 we have 16,000? or so..sorry, unsure of actual number but know less by at least 1,000, possibly 2,000. Now at no cost to taxpayes, and indeed Auckalnd ratepayes, we have a deal where a 350million convention centre can be built at a cost of 300-500 pokie machines in an casino (where people actualy go to gamble)…i’m confused at the win/win here, do Labour just oppose everything now?

Key and the National Party in general has to do more of this — explain what they are doing clearly, in a matter of fact way and in very simply terms with no political BS attached to it. If the MSM don’t want to be part of this approach then the Govt. have to find another effective way to do it.
One of the good things about Key is he does not operate in the way we have become used to with politicians and the MSM hate it because they can’t “control it. ( Maybe he not quite as effective in this as he once was ). In a similar way the Government has to try to break the mold of how they communicate with the public —there is too many sources of information for politicians to try to BS their way through –they will always be found out. They have to stick to the facts whether it is good or bad and they may regain some public respect.

The Labour Party think private citizens are there to be fleeced by taxes so that the State can invest in this project or that. Any other alternative is bad. But these stupid ideas are being given airplay so Key and his Ministers have to answer their outlandish claims. Key cleverly made Campbell look like an idiot. He is good, very good and so is Stephen Joyce.

How long before Phillip Ure comes along to tell us all that John Key ( who Phil predicted would be a one term PM) got torn limb from limb by Campbell?

When Labour and the Greens go on about where are the jobs, National and John Key should point out the anti-development policies of the left are the reason.

National and John Key are getting New Zealand going again. The oppostion are trying to stop growth and prosperity in this country.

Somebody please hand John Campbell a towel to wipe the egg off his face.

Especially his allegation that Key was somehow ‘flushed out’ by Fairfax about a possible pokie deal, only to have Key very matter-of-factly point out that he PUBLICLY announced those exact intentions last year, was just embarrassing to watch.

Pretty good reply by Key – very well judged

Can’t help feeling that a bit too complex for modern day news and many will miss the point as they like Campbell

well after watching that I can now understand why Muldoon fucked journos. What a pratt. Not even an intelligent way to tackle Key. worse getting stomped on because Cambell and his dumb researchers failed to do even basic stuff like check their OWN interviews.
How much do TV3 pay that bunch. Waste of their salary.

Campbell is a cock, but he does not mind being a rude abnoxious cock when it boosts the pathetic ratings. I watched the clip, but I will not watch TV3 news, TV1 news, Campbell live or Closeup. They are all cogsuckers and iceholes

    Well done John Key.

JK to C “you guys need to listen more” That’s right on the button. Need more comments on the Media like this to somehow hold them accountable for the twisted version of the news they often deliver.
