Talking of religion /politics in sports one of the truly great things about Irish rugby union is it does not recognise the border and never did.It is a single body covering the whole island unlike association football which fields 2 national sides.

In WW`1 when the 10th (Irish)Division was being formed the President of the IRFU issued an appeal which resulted in the formation of a “pals” company in the 7th Royal Dublin Fusiliers made up of footie players from the Dublin professional classes.
They served at Gallipoli and their memory is largely ignored in Ireland.
Another ideology dictates that they be forgotten.

Interesting that Prof John Hattie has come out in criticism of the government’s backdown over increased class sizes. Some of the resident commentators were using Hattie’s quotes against the govt’s position, saying how it was BAD POLICY. In ALL CAPS, no less.

Sad about the family and the house owner but:
Dawin candidate. The boat is 2 meters longer than the trailer therefore incorrect loading applies. The ‘yaw’ or ‘fishtailing’ caused the disconection from the tow vehicle. Totally overloaded. U-Haul prob had no control over the fuckwit that hired the trailer

I’d hazard a guess that boat & trailer would weigh about 4.5 tonne, (In NZ any trailer over 2.5 tonne must be fitted with electrically operated break away brakes to prevent this type of damage).

If a High Patrol officer in NZ saw that on a road he’d probably give birth on the spot. I’d wager you’d walk away from your impounded vehicles with a few thousand dollars worth of tickets & the bill for the house repairs.

Seeing as its a boat, what’s wrong with throwing the anchor out when one needs to brake?

How come that seems not to be the common practice?

On another note, I recall passing a boat between Rotorua and Auckland once. We noticed the outboard was hitting the road, its upright catch having become detached, so of course as we passed we furiously waved and pointed and shouted at the hapless tower as he simply smiled and waved back, as if nothing at all was wrong.

It would be interesting to know what the clown was using to tow it. My work vehicle is a 70 Series Landcruiser rated at a max of 3500kg braked trailer weight. It’s a turboed six putting out 163bhp & I still get twitchy with a tractor laden trailer hooked on behind.

Banners are a VERY effective way of getting the message out 🙂

Yesterday there were a number of us with the banners unfurled, in front of THOUSANDS of motorists at the Kohimarama Rd /St Heliers Bay Rd junction.

HEAPS of ‘toots’ and supportive responses!

The best yet.

That was the NINTH such protest.

This venue was not in the Epsom electorate – but near enough.

Penny, I don’t know why you are so upset about my ‘incessant and unsubstantiated defamatory whining’, as you call it – for this is EXACTLY what you are doing to John Banks.

I honestly cannot understand how you can not realise that.

If you feel that you have a valid issue against John Banks, you surely must appreciate that I feel there is a valid issue with you. You claim to represent the public – in other words, me – and I object to someone who has acted in the way you have claiming to represent me.

Well, so are my complaints against Penny. The issues that I have accused her of are well documented, and when asked to provide evidence I have done just that. Penny herself has admitted to doing all these actions. However she would claim they are ‘justified’, the ‘little person standing up to big corporations’, the ‘99% taking on the 1%’. Call them what you will, Penny – nobody is fooled.

Joris de Bres steps downs

Best News this year.

Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres has come to the end of his term and is stepping down.

He has been in the job since 2002.

On his Facebook page Joris de Bres says he was told ten years ago he must be crazy to apply for it.

However, he says it has been a wonderful job but has also been challenging, demanding and frustrating at times.

The position is being advertised on the Ministry of Justice website.

Applications close on the 6th of July.
