Prezoom
October 4th, 2012 at 4:00 pm by David FarrarThose wanting to order stuff from overseas may be interested in Prezoom. You can order stuff in the UK and US to a local address there, and they then ship it to NZ. Cost is $19.50 for first 1/2 kg and then $4.50 for every 1/2 kg after that.
The NZ Post service is $23.00 for first 1/2 kg and then $10.50 for every 1/2 kg after that.
Hoping some competition will see prices for both firms head down.

PreZoom’s US service received a great reception from customers in New Zealand.
We’ve just raised the service standard again by adding PreZoom service from the United Kingdom to the New Zealand market. Now PreZoom members can add their British favourites to an already vast selection of stores and brands by using PreZoom’s local UK address for their British online shopping.
Our low-cost service receives your purchases from merchants, processes and ships them to New Zealand, tracks along the way and delivers right to your door in New Zealand.
Our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/PreZoomNewZealand is a popular 2-way customer service channel that we monitor around the clock. Customers ask us questions, chit-chat and give us great feedback. Our 24/7 support for that channel helps to make shipping US and UK online purchases as trouble-free as possible.

I thought this looked great. Then I used the calculator. It says it will cost $394.25 to send a package that is 50cmx50cmx50cm and 0.5kg. WTF?

willtruth, you have a couple of things going on here. 50x50x50cm is a LARGE package. What is it, exactly, especially if it only weighs 500g? Please see our website or Facebook page about Dimensional Weight. That’s part of it. The second part of it is the value. Depending on what you’re getting, if the value exceeds between NZD$200 and NZD360, there will be customs duties, GST and a High Value Clearance fee as well. Whatever you’re putting in there, it’s over the minimum value. It’s the combination of these two things that’s doing it.
