Providing he can keep his mouth shut at the appropriate times ie no bad taste adlibbing, Paul Henry would be great on the 7 pm slot on One with his lovely co host Pippa Wetzell as a co host. The show would attract a large audience and no doubt would be entertaining with a few laughs and a bit of mickey taking intermixed with some serious news.

I don’t think it would matter too much what kind of a set-up he had in Australia.

I wish I had the requisite literary skills to make this eloquent but I don’t, so I’ll just put it like this: he will never win over enough people because he’s an irritating little cunt of a man that you mostly want to punch in the fucking head. Preferably right as he’s lost in the middle of one of his long drawn out cringefest totally-over-the-top *fucking god awful* car-engine-turning-over-but-won’t-start twattish laughs…..

I don’t find him offensive and I often don’t mind what he says but it’s nowhere near enough to make up for having to look at his weedy impish smirking smarmy nerdy git lined face. The wanker has already had a crack at getting himself elected. He stood for National for the Wairarapa seat in 1999 after a mouth almighty stint as a radio jock from the mid eighties on.

He got his clock cleaned by about 3000 votes by Georgina Beyer. Henry will forever live in my memory as a price dickhead after he threw his toys out the cot & abused the Wairarapa voters afterwards for not appreciating him as the superior candidate.

Well I would think he will be back to do the new Close Up show. If so, watch the numbers jump up overnight. TVNZ’s directive now is simply to make $. The only thing that makes me think maybe not is Raewyn Rasch is executive producer, not sure if she’s a fan.

Be interesting to see what he does next, because you can bet he won’t be sitting around

This was expected. It must be almost impossible for a Kiwi to make it on that kind of show. To make it in any foreign country would be difficult. Can you imagine an Australian doing the same here; it would be impossible? How could Henry give an opinion without the locals saying ‘what does he know; he’s a Kiwi?’

I hope he takes over from boring Mark Sainsbury. Close Up is dead; every second night they seem to push their liberal, minimum-alcohol-price agenda.

Mind you, would Henry ever be the same again; will he feel gagged by New Zealand’s speech police?

As a recent expat I’m going to miss my dose of Paul in the morning. To be sure they changed the format of his show here so many times it was ridiculous from 3 hosts (awkward), to 2 hosts (took a while but the chemistry was finally starting to happen), to sitting on sofas, to sitting behind a desk and all to no avail. Have to say they also had one of hottest weather girls on TV ever, Magdalena Roze well worth a google
