Thanks nasska. Perhaps he has been busy elsewhere fighting off the knuckle-dragging communists? Perhaps he has realised, 5 years into his 20 year plan, that he would have achieved more by doing nothing, and is deep in despair?

reply: this comment reminds me of the last shitty thing that happened before 22/2/11. CCC were cracking down hard on ‘untidy bastards’ whose lawns had grown above 10cms at their abandoned quake damaged homes from the 2010 Darfield earthquake. And then the Port Hills quake happened and long grass was the least of anyone’s petty troubles.

Just in case the world does end, I only cut the grass six times a year. Stretches out the life of the old lawnmower too. And less petrol. That’s life in the ‘peasant classes’ hahahaha.

I think the garden centres are wankers opening on days when the shops are meant to be shut. Total total wankers.

How many days or half days a year is it that they are required by law not to open? Is it…. fuck all?

Does the cunt want to be able to open 366/ 24 hours a day? Open on Xmas day? No… they don’t touch xmas day even though it’s the same principle as opening on Good Friday. To be consistent they should open on xmas day too. I think for Christians Easter is actually ‘bigger’ than xmas. It’s only the general populace of ignorant brainwashed commercialised fuckwits that get most worked up about xmas. Birth of Jesus vs his *resurrection*… from the ***dead***? I think the second one is probably a bit more exciting for my money.

I couldn’t give a fuck about religious holidays myself… if businesses are going to take the piss then the answer is to just get rid of the holidays and make it just another fucking business day. Because that’s what they’re doing.

They get customers… because most other places *actually close*… leaving the garden centres cornering the *nothing better to do with this day off we don’t give a fuck about* market. What are you going to do? Go to the flicks? Closed. Go to the mall? Closed. Most shops? Closed. Garden centre? Hey… open!! They’ve got a nerve man. Their customers? Can shop there on one of the other fucking 360+ trading days per year. Always a pet hate of mine.

NZ gun laws vs US… very different and I think that’s easy enough for most levels of grey matter to get. I’m fairly certain you can’t serve a shop counter with a loaded .357 Magnum on your hip waiting to blow away some faggot lowlife robber in the LOTLWC…. hehehe

You’re not alone, hardly anybody understands how the system uses legalese to defraud people of their rights. The problem isn’t specific to NZ, it is a fundamental part of the civil system.

The primary term is “person”. The ambiguity of the term is due to the fact that it can be interpreted as a physical thing (i.e. a living man, woman, or child), or it can be interpreted as a legal term for someone or something which is bound by legislation.

Legislation does not have universal scope, its scope is limited to people who have an obligation to obey it. Legal contests involving legislation occur in courts which have a specific jurisdiction which is called jurisdiction in personam or personal jurisdiction. IOW the jurisdiction only applies to persons (i.e. people who have an obligation to the court).

Law looks to the intent, or the intangible, while people usually look to the concrete, physical aspect of things. When someone claims to be a person within a context of law, they are implying that they owe an obligation to the state, and are therefore subject to the authority of the state.

There is also a religious aspect to this. The civil system is based on Roman law, and Roman religion expresses the idea of universal application. This idea is expressed within the articles of religion of the head of state of NZ as the belief that the power of the civil magistrate extends to all men. This idea gains force by oath of allegiance – an oath is an act of religion.
