Would that complaint against Rob Fyfe made be made by Misandrist, Denise Ritchie who a number of years ago publicly called for Father’s Day to be a day of shame for men because or the number of men who abuse their daughters? Ritchie consistently refused to withdraw let alone apologise that sick comment. She is not position to call any man a misogynist. She is as much interested in bashing men as protecting children.

Anyone off to get a free feed at the Auckland City Mission. Of course queues are longer every year, they get more free advertising every year, so of course the queues will get longer. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10855446

@skyblue I drive past the City Mission quite a bit. There aren’t such queues the rest of the year, just the usual deros who take time out from begging in Queen St. They are quite large crowds this week (or the 3 times I’ve been past). Whilst I’m aware of the connection between poor nutrition and obesity, no one in the queue looked to be short a meal.

@ Chuck Bird: I notice that Denise Ritchie claims that “… most of these ads are puerile, aimed largely at what Air NZ thinks juvenile males find titillating.” She complains about, among other things, an inflight safety video featuring a naked granny and jokes about female Belarusian shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk’s left testicle.

I don’t know too many “juvenile males” who would find a naked granny titillating, personally. Just saying …

Nothing wrong with dumpster diving, but no need on Tuesday, the food is free anyway.

Anyway, I always go to my local Pak n Save at 8pm, they reduce the price of rolls and bread by 300%. Good freezer fillers at 1/3 the cost. Even though I earn $120K PA I still like a bargain.

    Re: Mark Lundy

Another case of pinning the crime on the most likely suspect in order not to leave the case unsolved?

Sometimes there simply isn’t enough evidence for a conviction. This isn’t anyone’s fault, but unsolved murders are not a good look for the state in it’s primary role of protection of citizens.

You can’t make stuff like this up.

    Ken Ring rejects Mayan apocalypse

New age prophecies say the apocalypse is due to take place today, with the 5,125-year long Mayan calendar hitting its end date.

But weather predictor Ken Ring doubts the predictions, and is telling the conspiracy theorists to “get real”.

“It’s just like the end of one year and the beginning of the next,” says Mr Ring, who bases his weather predictions on the Moon. “The world doesn’t end every time our year ends, and really something was lost in the interpretation.”

He says if world was ending, there would have been signs.

“You’d see it starting to have happened way before now, and I don’t think any of it’s happening.

“It’s going to be a fairly normal day.”

There’s been plenty of looney signs, but no lunar signs for Ring.

See bus & train patronage in Auckland is falling and Auckland Transport need to hire professionals to work on this. The killer quote: “One of the measures of quality is punctuality or train performance and, while the price of our services is high, quality tends to be poor consistently.”
Well bugger me with Chris Carter, I never knew piss poor service accompanied with high cost would turn people away.
I wonder if the Greens will cry foul about this aspect and wasting ratepayers money:
‘Mr Edmonds acknowledged that rail punctuality needed to be well over 90 per cent, and the council body was employing professional advisers for a report to the board’s first meeting of next year on how to improve performance.’
Of course, the ratepayer will fill the void again with more rate money required to sudsidise the lower revenues. As I see it, costs to run these services are fixed.
And we need a rail loop, Tui Billboard anyone?

    1) http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/8105759/Auckland-couple-flee-home-invaders

PIty about NZ’s soft gun culture… burglers need a bullet in the brain… but anywhere on them is a good start. Poor homeowners can only run from their own residence. By the time ten armed officers turn up the shit has gone down… too late then, innit?

    2) http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/8103461/Armed-police-respond-to-gun-incident

I’d hate to be able to carry a gun to legally defend myself against armed criminals who break laws whatever they may be.

    3) http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/8101765/Killed-man-shot-in-chest-police

Unlike America, NZ doesn’t have any gun violence problems. Different culture, you see. It’s much better in this country.

    4) http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/8102737/Petrol-station-owner-defends-his-patch

You just *know* that if Zahid Chaudry was packing heat, this would be one dead armed robber.

    5) http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/8107689/Feilding-familys-home-burgled-and-trashed

Does anyone else hate the words ‘home detention’? I don’t think that’s going to worry Landyn Morehu Laird somehow, do you?

    6) SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST!! http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/8105508/Woman-sent-19-texts-in-45-mins-before-crash

19 texts in 45 mins leading up to trying to kill three innocent law-abiding victims. So…45 mins divided by two people texting is really 19 texts over 22’30”. Le’s be real.. she was just either texting whilst driving or waiting for the reply. The funniest part is this bit:

*Ms Jessep’s only child, Eliot, 17, said although there were the texts on her phone, the heat inside the car could have caused her to become tired and distracted.*

Really? Or is could’ve been the fucking texting mate!! What do you reckon??

Ironic that she was driving away from one funeral towards her own. And isn’t it nice to see the innocent victims survive for a change? The son doesn’t want to join them in a safety campaign against texting and driving.

You will never never never never never ever ever get the road toll below 200 or even 300 with dipsticks like that on the road. There’s nothing anyone will ever be able to do to get *through their thick heads*. Nothing!! What say you savage?

Well that would be so they can picket Santa next week for to stop him slaughtering his old Reindeer.

Surely with a big red nose that lights up Rudolph must need counseling for his alcohol addiction and Donna and Vixen will want maternity leave written into their contracts for next year.
All we need is for the Labour Party to start anti discrimination legislation over the employment of elves and little people and for Helen to call the unions to represent Santa’s Elves and then like everything else that’s good they will have fucked Xmas as well.

Whaleoil will put up a bill to prevent discriminating against the gay deer using a Labour MP
    .
The Greens will no doubt be harassing Santa over the feed the Reindeer get., making sure that is not GE modified nor sprayed with monsata product.

National will be employing Nick smith to tell them how to tax reindeer farts and no doubt they will have the GCSB checking his phones for surreptitious messages to internet community. NZ Police will be out with their Radar making sure his Reindeer don’t break the speed limits again so presents will be late.

Looks like Santa is in for a bad year next year.

    so sad.

300%? Really? And you’ve worked out that a reduction of 300% somehow equates to 1/3 the cost? Brilliant!

So, despite a ‘salary of $120k PA’, you can’t work out that if a price was reduced by 100%, it would be free?

Penny, you should make sure your own house is in order first.

    SEEN THIS KIWIBLOGGERS? :)

If a self-proclaimed “Anti-corruption campaigner” has in fact used money from a shared bank account without approval, as alleged by “Occupy” – is this appropriate behaviour?

In another brilliant showing of respect for democracy, Penny completely ignored the G.A. rules that it must approve all funds before they are released (over $100) by usurping the last $200+ in the bank account, without G.A. approval, ostensibly with the help of “Chris Glen” who was on the finance committee and was also a bank signatory.

For an anti-corruption campaigner who rails against backroom-deals and conflicts of interest – how could she take money outside of G.A. process while simultaneously being tasked as auditor? (Transparency! Accountability!)

    http://occupysavvy.com/2012/11/05/penny-bright-fails-to-co-opt-occupy-auckland-again/

Is it appropriate for a self-proclaimed “public watchdog” – who is hounding John Banks over so-called anonymous donations – to accept anonymous donations?

    PENNY BRIGHT ACCEPTS ANONYMOUS DONATION.

“A last minute anonymous donation of $10,000 is expected to save Water Pressure Group spokesperson Penny Bright from bankruptcy.”

Is it appropriate for someone who “claims” to be concerned about the less fortunate members of our society to picket a charity lunch that aims to raise money for a new children’s ward at Waitakere hospital, solely to make some sort of point about John Key?

    Courtesy of Lindsay Mitchell:

With government controlling more and more of our economy, the fact that crooks have to go where the money is causes more and more of them to turn to government employment. However, there is probably an even stronger reason for individuals to become politicians. That is the power which accompanies political office.

Many idealists think they know better than the ordinary person what is good for that person. They consider themselves a cut above the ordinary individual who just isn’t smart enough to know what he or she should do. Idealists seek government power to impose their ideas upon the rest of us. They may be personally honest insofar as not thinking of lining their own pockets with money but have little compunction about bolstering their egos with government power.

This attitude explains the environmentalists, the do-gooders, and others whose ego causes them to seek government power to impose their ideas upon those of us who just want to make our way in a free market in open competition with everyone else. They don’t believe in a free market or voluntary actions. They do believe in controlling others by means of government power.

    Lyrics –

    <blockquote<
    "Slouching Towards Bethlehem"

    Turning and turning
    Within the widening grey
The falcon cannot hear the falconer
    Things fall apart
    The centre cannot hold
    And a blood dimmed tide
    Is loosed upon the world

    Nothing is sacred
    The ceremony sinks
    Innocence is drowned
    In anarchy
    The best lack conviction
    Given some time to think
And the worst are full of passion
    Without mercy

Surely some revelation is at hand
    Surely it's the second coming
And the wrath has finally taken form
For what is this rough beast
    Its hour come at last
Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born
Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born

    Hoping and hoping
As if with my weak faith
    The spirit of this world
    Would heal and rise
    Vast are the shadows
    That straddle and strafe
    And struggle in the darkness
    Troubling my eyes

    Shaped like a lion
It has the head of a man
    With a gaze as black
    And pitiless as the sun
As it's moving its slow things
    Across the desert sands
    Through dark indignant
    Reeling falcons

Surely some revelation is at hand
    Surely it's the second coming
And the wrath has finally taken form
For what is this rough beast
    Its hour come at last
Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born
Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born
(Head of a man, shape of a lion)

    Raging and raging
    It rises from the deep
    Opening its eyes
    After twenty centuries
    Vexed to a nightmare
    Out of a stony sleep
    By a rocking cradle
    By the Sea of Galilee

Surely some revelation is at hand
    Surely it's the second coming
And the wrath has finally taken form
For what is this rough beast
    Its hour come at last
Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born
Slouching towards Bethlehem to be born

Yeah, he’s the perfect age to cash in and if he’s still around and in good shape in 2015… he might actually get to start a RWC knockout match for a change? I’d like to see that happen for him.

Police have gathered new information on the lady who got out of her car on the Harbour Bridge and jumped.

A fellow motorist has come forward and told the police that the lady approached him and said she was lost and asked him where she was.

    He told her “Auckland”.

Folks passing thru the Wairarapa today and asking where the great white minus 20 pointer could be seen were bewildered when the locals asked them “What the joke was”? :)

    Shit happens! :)

Us lower lifeforms must roll with the punches and accept that we are but cannon fodder in the great scheme of things. :)

*Me ,I like reasonably priced food ,so they can go and flap off as far as I’m concerned.* (re: SAFE activists)

You’ve got it. Organic and free range food… um… yeah. How much does that cost? Is it…. five times as much as the ‘cruel food’?

You can forget about eggs… meat products.. even milk if they got their way.

Just live on fruit and veg. That’s the answer. The activists would love me now, but I only gave up the foods they care about to lose weight.

I caught one of their ads on TV. It wasn’t actually that bad. Quite funny. These idiots have got an advertising budget now. So that’s where your donation goes… funding ‘awareness’ campaigns. Cool.
