Did this afternoon the Otari Skyline loop walk, which starts at the Troup Picnic Area and up the blue trail too the 800 year old Rimu tree. Then carry on uphill, with a fairly steep incline, until you cross the pine forest and hit the open. A bit further uphill gets you to the Skyline Track and you follow this North for a bit and then head back down to Otari via the yellow trail.
Took 1 hr 45 minutes, which was good as the guide book said two and a half hours. Some great views and good workout for the calves.

Those guide books estimate track walking times for 90 year olds needing hip operations.
I guess then if a 90 year old needing a hip operation did turn up then they can’t complain.

Be 2 hours at least if you’d shot something!

In my day when I was a boy living in Wadestown we would have gone up the hill through what was then Wilton’s bush along to Crow’s Nest (Chartwell didn’t exist) on to Kaukau and down across the Ngaio gorge and home. Wouldn’t have taken more than a couple of hours even when I had to carry my 6 year old sister half the way.
I don’t know what’s happened to the youth of today.

Okay it was a good workout for the calves; but what about that big heifer that went with you?
