Reckon there’s been a typo somewhere, the movie isn’t about Conan the Barbarian it’s about Cohen the Barbarian, a role for which Arnie is probably a little on the young side for but should allow him to reprise the role in multiple sequels

M’n'M again displays the fallacy oft repeated by the MSM and Winston. The Government does not give money to the film industry in Wellywood. What the government does is forego tax revenue from the industry to keep it going. The end result is PAYE from all those that continue to be employed by it, directly or indirectly, and GST revenue from the economic activity it generates.

The net effect is positive. To illustrate, if these measures were not taken, and the industry went offshore, which it so easily can, which is better to the government. To take a larger percentage of an industry that no longer exists, in effect nothing, or to take a smaller percentage of an even larger industry with growth potential.

By the way….

This movie was also filmed in NZ. How much revenue did the government get as a result? Certainly a shitload more than it would have got if the film was shot in Japan, and yes, the post production is being done in Wellington.

The original film was a real classic. I doubt the same film made in today’s politically correct environment would be any where near as good. Just the same, I hope NZ benefits from any production work.
