Sworn in twice

Tomorrow Barack Obama gets sworn in for a second term as President of the United States.

43 men have served as President of the United States. Of the 43:

  • Elected twice, served full terms – 12 (including Obama)
  • Elected once, defeated – 8
  • Elected once, died in office – 5
  • Succeeded to office, retired – 4
  • Elected once, retired – 4
  • Succeeded to office, re-elected – 4
  • Elected twice, died in office – 2
  • Elected, defeated, elected – 1
  • Elected four times, died in office – 1
  • Elected twice, resigned – 1
  • Succeeded to office, defeated – 1

Worth noting that many of those who retired after one term, wanted to stand again but failed to gain their party’s nomination. However some were genuine retirements.

    America, a great country of opportunity – where even undocumented and non-natural born citizens can become President!

    [DPF: How is he undocumented or non natural-born? His shirt and long form birth certificates have been released, and there was an ad in a Hawaii paper announcing his birth.

    Put it like this, is there a shred of evidence he was not born in Hawaii - apart from the fact some people allege it]

    Obama is a valid president. Disagree with his politics all you (and me) like but harping on about some weird idea that he isn’t a valid prez is a waste of time.

    I notice the list has O’Bama as having been ‘elected twice and served full terms’.

    Isn’t that a bit premature. Elected twice, but will he see the second term through? Crystal ball stuff!

    Obama will serve a full term unless something tragic happens. Republicans should stop trying to set the agenda from the House of Representatives. I assume Obama will go after them in 2014 if they overplay their hand.

    You are missing David Atchison, who was acting President for one day. Apparently he spent the day fending off good natured requests from friends for cabinet appointments.

    I believe that his changes to Gun Legislation will make Obama a lot of nutter enemies, as shown by the shere number of “registered” guns of all types.

    As nutters go US has many gun crazy nincompoops, as history of very recent times has shown.

    It wouldn’t matter what evidence is made available even if you had it in your hand, it all comes back to your first impressions and usually with him it starts with his name Barack Husein Obama. Republicans and the christian elements will not change their deep first layer impressions of him unless black and white business and religious leaders within their own localized groups present it in a manner that coincides with their values as Americans.

    Really it all comes down to whether or not a person can self challenge their own beliefs which may sound hypocritical but this is about this current president.

    ps, more proof that Obama is not who he claims to be.

    A skip tracer trying to trace someone evading a debt came up Michelle Obama and her Social Security number and previous address. Obama’s name was also there (associated with Michelle) and, low and behold, his Social Security number has an alias – someone sharing the same number who was born in 1890 called Harrison Bounel. The skip tracer typed in the number again, and sure enough, both names came up. This man Obama, whoever he is, has been created from whole cloth.

    The tracer said it it usually evidence of identity theft.

    Even in tough times, high-level academics enjoy tenure and have been largely spared from job cuts. Between late 2007 and mid-2009, the number of U.S. federal workers earning more than $150,000 more than doubled, even as the economy fell into a deep recession. Even as the private sector, and state government employment has fallen, the ranks of federal nomenklatura have swelled so much that Washington, D.C., has replaced New York as the wealthiest region in the country.

    This decreased Obama’s support among the plutocrats, even if they have thrived under his watch, but he made up for this in part by tapping bureaucracies that benefit from expanding government. Indeed the clerisy accounted for five of the top eight sources of Obama’s campaign funding, led by the University of California, the federal workforce, Harvard , Columbia and Stanford. Academic support for Obama was remarkably lock-step: a remarkable 96% of all donations from the Ivy League went to the president, something more reminiscent of Soviet Russia than a properly functioning pluralistic academy.

    Yes. The problem is that evidence is ignored, while anyone curious about inconsistencies peppered with ad hominem’s. Progressive huh?

    Yes fortunately, America is not Venezuela.
    Even, before the swearing in ceremony, something ‘tragic’ (I use that term very loosely) has probably already happened but that is unlikely to stop a full term being served.
