2013 Youth Parliament

The 2013 Youth Parliament is on 16 and 17 July 2013.

All 121 MPs will select a Youth MP, plus there will be 10 Youth Press Gallery members. It’s a great opportunity for young people interested in politics.

If you are aged between 16 and 18 you are eligible to be a Youth MP. Each MP will make a selection as they see fit. Most run some sort of application process and judging contest.

Don’t be shy. If you don’t apply, you can’t be considered.

Can you be sure their are not more like them or do you think Shearer would deal with one more effectively that Goff or King?

And I bet that all the ethnic MP’s will choose their youth member from the same ethnic group, But I bet that Pakeha Mp’s will choose some non-pakeha youth members..I just think that it needs to be seen that we are inclusive and not ethno centric.

Maybe an ethnic member could choose a Pakeha? Just a thought?

How about an amendment to the Electoral Act barring anyone that age who wants to be in a “Youth Parliament” from standing for the real Parliament when they grow up?

What a waste of taxpayers money. Recruiting children. Outrageous behavoir.

No doubt where the like of both Hughes, Smith and many other child MP’s came from.

FFS!…we are borrowing how many billions a month and out out of touch politicians think that wasting money on a youth parliament is a good idea?

Can it, spend the money on something worthwhile. Nothing good comes out of the youth parliament.
