Would I be classified as a curmudgeon if I was to explain that Wallace Chapman is, in my opinion, an unwelcome prat. But it is great that my favourite Wellington watering hole will re-open.

@Elaycee – Young Mr Farrer put out a satirical press release in the mid 90s that Michael Laws had been murdered and that Police were interviewing 2,000,000 suspects, including Jim Bolger. The Police took a dim view of the use of their logo and arrested him. I think the matter was eventually dropped, but Tom Scott had a very good take on it. I hope the display has survived…

I’m sure a judge would’ve thrown it out anyway as no one could have read it and thought it was genuine.

Good to see both the pub and the show will be back in action. One of my ambitions is to visit Wellington to partake in both (I went to the show when it was in Dunedin a year or two ago).

I think the term you want is “longest standing patron” there are certainly older patrons than you at the back bencher
