I was a total moron when I drove buses in my early twenties. Think and hope I’m a bit smarter now.

I don’t know how they do it… because after work… that’s the last thing you’d want to do, isn’t it? 10-20-30kms on the bike to get home?

I asked such a group how they handled the issue of showers and change of clothes too. Would take a bit of extra organising. Good for them!!

Big groups of them…. 5-10 or more… yeah… just depends on their attitude. The law says they can ride side by side… two abreast I think is the actual words off the top of my head. Not sure ti says anything about a gap they need to stick to.

If a redtaper did try to add a compulsory distance to maintain when riding two abreast then I’m sure that would get up some noses here about more nonsense nanny state measures for something that’s ‘commonsense’

I feel well within my rights to use the road, reducing commuter congestion each day, staying fit and healthy. And 99.9% of motorists are happy to share the road with me, for which I’m grateful.

When you think about it… there’s not really that much interaction necessary between cyclists and non-cyclist road users.

Isn’t it all fairly straightforward? I mean… you don’t find it difficult to share the road with cyclists, do ya? How hard can it be?

I’ve seen cyclists get badly cut up by moronic motorists too… it works both ways. There’s a footpath used by cycle commuters in Wellington along Kaiwharawhara and I’ve seen plenty of idiots pull out in front of or across cyclists going into and out of drives. Some of the cyclists are doing 40-50km/h. These people need to use their eyes 100% of the time and look and check properly.

Yeah some cyclists run red lights. I’ve done that before. I don’t cycle but I’ve done that. If they’re not slowing anyone else down, does it really make any difference?

If you’re doing 1km or more over the speed limit… you’re breaking the law. That’s illegal. But no-one’s doing that, are they? When everyone is a squeaky clean little angel that never breaks any kind of a law or rule anywhere in life…. they can preach from on high. And if someone has never broken a rule in life… .well you can just fuck off ya goody good noddy… hahahaha

When I used to drive a bus through Newtown in the morning…. there was this one smokin hot chick cyclist in the old stretchy black bike pants most days… far out man… I used to make sure I got ‘stuck’ behind her as much as possible. Like… how much ‘arse time’ could I get? That’s like ‘hang time’ only with arses.

Aren’t they usually on the left, not weaving all over the lane trying to ruin your life?

Most of them are ok, eh? Like anything else. Most vehicle drivers are sort of ok. The total pricks are in the minority.

They don’t pay road tax. Well…. they don’t cause the need for maintenance like a heavier mode of transport does.

You don’t need an entire road for them either. If it was just bicycles… you wouldn’t make the fuckin road that wide, would ya? So the road tax is mostly paying for who? You.

I believe you have to commute the bridge every day? Bugger that mate, you would have to leave 6 am to get past town in relative ease and comfort just to be somewhere by 7.30 am.
