The Vatican on Saturday strongly condemned media coverage of a report that is said to contain information about the influence of a gay network and financial mismanagement within the Vatican, and which may have triggered Pope Benedict’s decision to resign. But in his statement, a spokesman for the Vatican did not deny the report’s existence or dispute the description of its findings.
Lombardi also questioned the moral authority of the media. “Those who present themselves as judges, making heavy moral judgments, do not, in truth, have any authority to do so,” he said. “Those who consider money, sex and power before all else and are used to reading diverse realities from these perspectives, are unable to see anything else.”
While speaking out strongly against the tone of the media coverage, Lombardi did not confirm or deny the existence of the 300 page report by the cardinals or its contents. He did not discuss the effect the report had on Pope Benedict’s decision to resign.
There is also threats of the Pope’s arrest, the Rhode Island issue and Los Angeles, as well as stories that people will occupy Roman Catholic churches at Easter demanding compensation for the priests’ sex offences.
Nice to see that the Ministry of Justice has post-humously cleared Greg King on any wrong-doing. Given that the Dom-Post had chased him for comment on the allegations on the morning that he disappeared, I wonder how they are feeling at the news. There was nothing wrong with seeking comment in itself, but the denials that they had really made them look bad…
Banks faces legal threat
Act leader accused of finance law breach
A judge is considering whether Act Party leader John Banks should face charges this month for allegedly misleading investors.
The threat hung over Banks’ head as he took the podium at yesterday’s annual party conference.
Court papers supplied to the Herald on Sunday allege that because Banks was an executive director of finance firm Huljich Wealth Management, he has absolute liability for false statements in the company prospectus
After Penny Bright’s actions have so successfully cleared John Banks of wrong-doing in those organisations she has raised this matter with – the Police, the Serious Fraud Office, the Securities Commission and Parliament, through a petition to the House of Representatives –
why is a Wellington court, case brought by retired Wellington accountant Graham McCready, still allowed to bugger around with this?
Have they nothing else to hear?
There is also threats of the Pope’s arrest, the Rhode Island issue and Los Angeles, as well as stories that people will occupy Roman Catholic churches at Easter demanding compensation for the priests’ sex offences.
Another theory is that proof exists that gospel of Barnabus is an original text. Biblical scholars have generally maintained that it is a forgery, but if proven to be legitimate then it adds to the number of early texts which contradict the Christian story of the crucifixion.
I’m at BK 7:10am-9:10am. Five soft serve helpings in my cup. I get five because the bloke I get is so generous each time.
Fat white people this morning including my personal favourites a fat as anything mother and about four white kids ranging in age from 1-9. Two of the boys were just fucking fat. Their faces were like mini Gerry Brownlee style and yet somehow even more mis-shapen than him. It was grotesque to say the least. Credit where cridt’s due… the kids could run for at least ten metres.
That’s a great breakfast for the kids eh? Fast food on a Sunday morning. And then one fat kid was sent up with more cash for more goodies. Just because you are a fat moron…. don’t turn your young boys into fat slobs. One boy was normal looking… the baby/ toddler? Don’t know.
And then… another really fat ugly old white woman and another porky pig fat male child. You shouldn’t have hanging neck flab at seven years of age… whoa… fuck me…
Saw a couple of other fat white adults there…. and then finally some humanoid shaped white people came through…. so the ratio shifted to about 50/50 fat fucks:ok shape. One fella was pregnant but the rest of him was ok.
You know the ones where their fuckin *arms* are fat? Like… even the forearms have given up and started expanding like balloons? Yeah…
Oh well… it’s not rocket surgery… finding fat people in their natural habitat. Disgusting retards. And they do look like idiotic retards.
By my fifth soft serve I was only going through the motions. I wanted to break-up with my dessert cup. I think it’s time I saw other food groups. I took some home-made biscuits for the BK crew and some for the bread deliverer… but I missed the latter so BK got his biscuits too. Good fun.
In town… dancing right next to where I’ve put my coat down. Turn around… and some fuckwit has put it on and sitting down in it.
Ripped my coat off this prick’s back and he got thrown out. Who are these people? You’re asking for a beating when you touch things that aint yours. I tried to make that as melodramatic as I could for the muppet… try to get the message across that it’s not actually ok at all to do that.

lrc -but we all know it is their “genes”, so completely out of their control, so not their fault. Somehow it is BKs fault and their advertising. Advertising must activate the genes or something.
I see that all the time- fat fuck parents create fat fuck kids. It’s really sad. The fat parents that do that to their kids are braindead. I wouldn’t even take my kids to those shitholes… if I had kids. I only go for the soft serve once a week on Sunday and even that’s got out of hand. I’m meant to stick to one-two only and without the massive toppings I add on.
for enthusiastic do you say en*foo*siastic or en*the-u*siastic?
Same for Muesli. Some kiwis pronouce the word as ‘moosli’ whereas I make it ‘*meu*esli.
I hear some very strange pronunciations on talkback. One very intelligent sounding man was saying feral as ‘ferile’ with a stronger emphasis on the second syllable. The host then said it as I would as a sort of ‘ferul’ emphasis more on the first syllable.
Dreadful kiwi speak: Listen to the work ‘drown’ next time spoken by a broad kiwi accent. It comes out something like dra-ee-ow-urn. Cultural cringe or own the uniqueness with pride?
The fella they talk to when anything Pike River mine comes on the news… I have to turn the volume off. Oi’d loike thum toe roi-opun thoir invoistigoition unto thar Poike Roiver Moine deesarstar. I have to turn quite a few broad accents off. Horrible sounding. If only everyone could speak as nicely as the Tongan royal family.
My pet hate is thickos that don’t know the bloody difference between ‘Lose’ and ‘Loose’.
I guess that’s what happens in a country where you let Secondary School kids answer exams in ‘Txt speak’….
(God help us if we mispronounce a Maori word though…)
thanks for the link to Australian ‘socialist style immigration’.
“…..Oh, by the way, somebody might like to ask the new immigration minister why, in the last few years alone, thousands of ‘asylum seekers’ have returned to their supposed ‘country of persecution’. This is another big secret the department is hoping does not become public: asylum seekers are granted Protection visas, only to travel back to Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan, marry their arranged brides and lodge applications for large groups of ‘family members’. And curiously, many of these asylum seekers, returning to their country of origin, do not have jobs; that is, their travel is funded by welfare payments, which they continue to collect while overseas…30’000 – 40’000 more asylum seekers may arrive before the federal election in sept….30’000 are currently waiting in Indonesia…..5 boats arrived just yesterday[sat] and I think that may be a record….”
John Key is too Islamic for Helensville….too gay….too socialist….just too wrong.
I was watching the Food Truck programme a bit on One. The fella Michael starts off by saying he wants to find a non-sugar alternative to L&P and cola full sugar drink. And I’m talking to the TV saying ‘mate… you’ve heard of Coke Zero, yeah?’ That’s game over right there pal. I drank three litres of Pepsi Max last night. No sugar… drink as much as you bloody want.
Is that a kids programme? The way they talk down to the viewer and the playschool soundtrack shit oh dear. The way carers talk to hard of hearing geriatrics in resthomes.
The L&P sure.. no low calorie version so far that I’ve seen… but cola/ lemonade? You’re joking, right? How incredibly stupid.
And he went to Waiheke… of course he did. Can you take me to…..a wankytown? Actually the people there seemed a cut above your average moron Stuff commenter. Even the kids could string sentences together with thoughtful coherence. Michael kept on repeating ‘give that a whirl’. Get one more fuckin kiwi as phrase ya drongo… how about ‘there- wrap ya laughin gear around that bi-arch’?

Didn’t English at one point have lots of different spellings for words and then they became universally the same? (in their respective BE and AE forms).
And now with textspeak… it’s going back to ‘spell words however the fuck you feel like.’ Just like centuries ago. Cool.
And most of a generation have come through with atrocious English language skills and sound dreadful and ignorant.
I’m not perfect either but I care dammit… I care. I like words. Consternation is a recent word I saw in a KB post. What a great word. Pizzazz… my gift back to KB. Here… have the word pizzazz. It’s everything you always wanted in a noun.
I reckon!! I actually made the same comment to the guy who poured all five of them for me. He thinks I’m off the planet.
You’re not wrong- except I’ve been running 10kms a day, lifting weights, I’ve got a strict diet of low calorie only options on a standard day and keep an obcom eye on the scales. If they start going up too much then I’ll die diet hard with a vengeance to get back down to my happy weight.
I doubt if those StayPufts have ever run 10kms in one day in their whole lives. They look just like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. The stereotype doing it’s thing right in front of me was just too much to bear. I was trying not to crack-up too much as I watched feeding time at the zoo.
When I lived in NZ I new that kiwis had a differant accent based around the vowels. At the time I didn’t think it too serious a problem. Afterall, all English speaking places have different accents.
Now that I have lived in Aus for 20 yrs, I would go so far as to say “some kiwis, NOW speak a form of Pidgeon English”. I’ve been back to NZ often over the years, and I do at times[not too often] have trouble understanding what some ‘young’ shop staff are saying. Americans ect would find it difficult more often I would think.
Over the last 10 yrs I have often read via ‘stuff reports’ the praising of kiwis ‘unique pronunciation of English’. These reports have come from the education dept, schools, govt depts, Maori advocates, MP’s ect ect. – like they are proud of it. I think it has only made matters worse.
It doesn’t bode well in the long run for the individuals who speak like that…as it really is a matter of lazyness more than anything else….some will not get jobs….moreso in customer service…which is the place of last resort for the under educated. Tourism is also a major source of income for NZ, and the higher the levels of professionalism, the higher that prices for services can be charged out at.
moreso in customer service…which is the place of last resort for the under educated.
There might be a lot of truth to that assertion but I meet people all the time with degrees and upwards of degrees that are working in retail. I met a bloke working in the Telecom shop in Porirua. Masters. Seven years of tertiary education. And not in some dumbarse history or English degree… a real one… chemistry and physics or something bloody hard. I’m really impressed by his qualifications and said as much. He *is* the manager I think though. He thought I’d smoked a bit too much that day. I tried to talk my way back onto his good side but it was like trying to climb back up a waterslide greased with baby oil…. hahahaha. Talk about awkward.
If rich white men want to throw their money away into lost causes then let them I say. (Of course they could have done something useful for the country with their money like paying their employees more, but oh well)

hahahaha…. what are those superstars polling now man? Is it….. 0.0001%?
John Banks or some clown was saying that 5% and six seats would be good. Yeah, that would be good eh? Do you know what else would be good? If hot sexy blonde triplets in their twenties called Fellatio, Allota Vagina and Pussy Galore turned up on my doorstep looking for a good time.
Well, LRC, just ask John Ansell, he’ll probably tell you they can get 40% or so. About as probable as the triplets showing up at your doorstep.
No, wait, on second thought, the triplets are far more probable.
Anyway, it will be interesting how ACT will try and re-invent themselves in time for the next election. I doubt that National will gift them Epsom once again, especially not if they are polling below 2%.
The sole purpose meaning of Act existence right now is merely to provide one vote for the government.
Yes, well- there’s a few Act voters now living within the protective confines of the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary where they can roam free from all of their natural predators. Keeping a few of them there just in case the numbers really take a nosedive. Preserve some of them for future breeding programmes if need be or it might be another tragic loss of NZ’s precious remaining biodiversity.
“….Anyway, it will be interesting how ACT will try and re-invent themselves in time for the next election. I doubt that National will gift them Epsom once again, especially not if they are polling below 2%….”
They don’t need to re-invent themselves as Key will just keep pissing on National voters and sending them there…or to the Conservatives.
Have you committed the act of last resort ezette – the act of disiplining an insolant child with a smack for their own future benefit – an act of love between a parent and child?
Did you use a wooden spoon….where the child can easily differentiate between that and a hand – a hand that is more often used in other acts of love….like cuddleing a child?
They’re gonna leave Socialist National in droves ezette.

All the contextual interpretive skills of a supermarket self-checkout unit.
Listen to how RH said what he was saying- said in jest.
RH also had a dry sarcastic crack at TV3. Something along the lines of ‘where are they? There they are! I know they’re on a tight budget’. He might or might not actually think what he was saying seriously- however the style was definitely one of ‘I’m having you on- not to be taken seriously’.
A former Immigration Minister – who changed the Immigration Act to detain boat people indefinitely after a ship packed with asylum seekers was reported to be heading for New Zealand – said this week he had misgivings about allowing extended family of refugees.
Tuariki John Delamare, now an immigration consultant, warned an unchecked criminal element was entering the country and tighter screening was needed.
“If it was up to me I would institute lie detector tests.” He said there were a “significant” number of immigrants entering the country under refugee categories who were “bad people from day one”.
All the contextual interpretive skills of a supermarket self-checkout unit.
Yes I used to wonder if PG deliberately takes the piss or whether he really does believe what he writes. I concluded awhile ago it’s definitely the latter and he really doesn’t understand the conservative mindset in any way which is a shame, for him, because you can’t be a proper “Mr. Reasonable” if you can’t even understand a simple thing like that. Lefties have never been able to pull it off, they truly don’t get us and perhaps that’s Pete’s problem, he just can’t escape the vortex.
Reid, since it’s psychodiagnosis Sunday, my thesis is that pete sits on the fence on issues because he feels that to take a position something will have other’s believe he’s motivated by disapproval of the opposite case. It’s likely that he applies this yardstick to others, and therefore feels he’ll be on the receiving end of the same judgement.. so all the better to remain perpetualy postulating and avoid said judgement.
…. an now for a quick update of the meta-analysis of home viewer surveys this week which has the median predicted last episode date of Seven Sharp moving up a week from Friday 21 June 2013 to Friday 14 June. That is all. Thank you.
If you want a good example of someone who slips very dry, quick and witty telling sniping little smarmy comments about his interview subjects right under their noses without them always knowing it’s happened look no further than Marcus Lush doing Radiolive breakfast. That’s the art of the dry comment. It’s dry. It’s subtle. It reaches the intended subjects like a secret handshake while leaving those with no sense of humour none the wiser. It’s an intelligence test. Compared to Marcus Lush I thought that Rodney Hide’s comments were obvious in their intended nature.
I was in a club two weeks back and I accept that clubs are chock full of twats and that’s fine. I was telling one of these young fondued geniuses to fuck off…. using the words fuck off… right in his face… but I did it with a really big smile on my face. It’s amazing what you can get away with saying to people if you’re mixing the verbal content with positive and happy non-verbal signals.
You are Pete. If you really truly believe it wasn’t simply a joke, you’re a complete and utter idiot. Seriously, you are. If you were a lefty and simply trying to rark it up then it would be understandable, but you appear actually to believe Hide really wasn’t simply joking. Which makes your understanding of politics and the people in it around about the level of a particularly dim 12 year old.
I have seen hundreds of NCEA papers – never seen txt speak on them.
I don’t know any teacher who would let their students write like that
We have discussed the handwriting issue at our school. Even the ‘laptop’ class has to handwrite in English and Soc Sci. They will need to write their external exams for NCEA so need to be used to writing regularly (as opposed to typing).
If you really truly believe it wasn’t simply a joke, you’re a complete and utter idiot.
Reid, if you believe it was “simply a joke”, said at one of the most media intensive occasions for Act, and Jim Hopkins re-emphasising it for Rodney to re-emphasise it, and then stirring up TV3 was “simply a joke”, then either Hide has completely forgotten about how politics and media works, or you are the idiot.
Pete, when Fat Bastard on The Spy who Shagged Me said that he likes eating babies, was he telling the truth, as you see it?
But seriously, WTF about saying something that you knew TV3 would take out of context and report deadpan on, because they’re raging screaming insane lefties, don’t you understand?
Don’t you get the whole point of not withdrawing it was so that TV3 would report it? That that was why he waved at them? Don’t you get that?
I mean fucking der Pete. You really are a moron aren’t you. I mean look at it like this, idiot.
IF it really WAS true, then do you think they’d admit it? And if they were going to “admit” it, do you seriously think they would have done it in that way?
Not that it is true, lest you misunderstand.
(It’s a shame I have to keep pointing out that it’s not true and I’m just using the hypothesis IF to make a point, isn’t it, but with you Pete, your naivity knows no bounds, so who knows what the hell you’ll take out of what I just said.)
Ok to summarise:
- NZQA has NO policy on the use of text language in exams, it is treated like using an abbreviation
- When use of language is being assessed, such as in English papers, use of text language will be penalised (as it is with the use of abbreviations)
- Text speak and abbreviations is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED
- Markers are looking for clear answers. So if you want to use text language go ahead, but given that markers are of a different generation to teenagers sitting exams, there is a pretty high change the marker won’t know what you are saying, not leaving much to mark.
So hardly an endorsement, quite the opposite in fact. If you used text language in an exam I wouldn’t be expecting a pass mark coming your way!
Oh enough of the faux outrage already!
Now I must of missed my invitation to the ACT party get together, so I can’t say this for sure, BUT …
Although I’m not a gambling man I’d put a decent wager on the people there being some combination of rich, white and male. I’d even go further and put a wager on the majority of people there being all three.
Not being spiteful, just pointing out the obvious!
Oh and in your last sentence, I think you have me confused for someone else. Sorry to disappoint!
But back to ACT. All this chat over a party that barely registers in the polls. Goodness me!
Remember folks: ACT = John Banks.
Even if National tries to convince the good people at Epsom to vote for Banks at the next election, I very much doubt enough of them could live with themselves to allow Banks to win again.
“Pro-family groups such as Concerned Women of America have warned that these ‘gender identity’ laws will increase the already rising incidence of bathroom attacks on women by sexual predators, who will count on using the new law as an alibi if they get caught. The government ought not risk making it easier for sexual predators to escape justice and re-offend another day.
And children of course are the biggest losers here: “If you had a 9-year old daughter, how would you feel about a man going into the bathroom after her? How is that child supposed to discern whether the man in the bathroom with her is a rapist, a peeping tom, or merely an innocent ‘transsexual’ who thinks he’s a woman trapped in a man’s body? It is unconscionable for legislators to put vulnerable, female children in such a dangerous position.
“To be clear, we’re not saying that individuals who identify as ‘transgendered’ are sexual predators. Rather, there will be an increased legal opportunity for sexual predators and peeping toms who pretend to be ‘transgendered’, to enter female bathrooms. These miscreants will count on being able to escape prosecution, if caught or suspected, by simply claiming that they’re ‘transgendered’ and they are just exercising the right to ‘express their female gender’. How can a police officer possibly know otherwise?
“Several women have been killed in the United States in bathroom attacks, and there have been numerous reports of attacks in Canada as well. Do we really want to make it easier for sexual predators to get in close quarters with vulnerable women by pretending to be transgendered?”
But these militant activists and social engineers really don’t give a rip about such ugly consequences. All they care about is thoroughly destroying society and all of its long-standing social institutions and sexual values, replacing it all with their radical social and sexual anarchy.
Indeed, the activists know that such legislation is a great way to attack Christian businesses, charities and churches as well:
“Adding the terms ‘gender identity’ and gender expression to the Act will lead to trampling of religious freedom and conscience rights. The militant activists pushing this bill are not interested in using it as a protective ‘shield’. Instead, they will use it as a ‘sword’ to target Christian and other faith-based businesses, religious institutions and charities for holding biblical beliefs on human sexuality.
“This will also invite trouble for private businesses and even religious institutions which will be compelled by the law to permit their employees to dress up in the opposite sex. Is it beyond the pale to imagine a male employee at a Christian charity filing a human rights complaint for not being allowed to dress up as a woman while at work?”
Yes, all these attempts at radical social engineering are not only about destroying a nation, but singling out Christian moral concerns, beliefs and practices. The militants have declared war on everything we hold near and dear, and will not rest until our concerns have been muzzled and eliminated.
ACT is merely a zombie party anyway, walking dead. Brash did in the ACT party nearly two years ago in an inept, vile and foul manner. Rodney is free to say what he likes about ACT, it’s not the same party he led. Banks is a moron, I hope he does get his beans in court, Brash too.
If Hide started a new party I’d vote for him.
Scott it was a tactic to get news coverage. That’s all it was. – Say something outrageous in the expectation that lefty idiots, being idiots, won’t be able to tell whether or not you’re being serious, and will report it as if you meant it. Simple. And it worked. Only morons fell for it and who cares about them because they’ll never vote for ACT anyway. But those who might vote for ACT also hear about it and have a little smile to themselves, as the smug but totally ignorant and self-righteous little shits in the lefty media get all lathered up over it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Morning Report does a piece on it tomorrow morning, as well. Let’s hope so. In fact they’re probably working on it right now.
Harriet, you may well have a good point but your problem is that you have cried wolf too much. Nobody listens to you any more because you’re mad and bitter. Your ludicrous hyperbole on gay marriage showed you are someone we can safely scroll past without wasting precious seconds reading the recycled lies of some pedophile priest.
Councillor Cameron Brewer blasted Brown for “going around assuring people that he’s supposedly prudent” when the cost of his own office was increasing.
“This is not any ordinary office. This is a ratepayer-funded campaign machine and people wonder why no one’s prepared to stand against him and his army of advisers and consultants.”
[One of] Brown’s [six] spokesman Glyn Jones said in a statement the mayoral budget was set by law and his office only spent what was needed to fulfil the mayor’s leadership role get himself re-elected.
So far the office had spent 10 to 20 per cent less than budgeted each year.
“the mayoral budget was set by law”
Don’t you love the disingenuous of it and the rigorous questioning of that statement by the loyal repeaters “journalists?”
Possibly they forgot to mention that “set by law” really means: the mayor put’s it forward and then once people agree he gets a majority on it, it’s deemed by law to be set. Which means the mayor can just put forward any old thing and it will still be “set by law.”
PG: You really must stop getting your information from the MSM… or dare I say it, being dishonest. I was AT the ACT conference…it is completely incorrect that Hide “refused to revisit…” the jest about the poor, Maori, and unions…IN FACT the MC, sensing that the fuckers would misuse what was clearly intended as a jest, invited Hide to come back and clarify, which he duly did, and very eloquently too…
His ” well, that’s true” was clearly intended to refer to our dislike of the unions, and not the poor and Maori…as the rest of that part of the speech made quite clear.
At the very least, you are being very naive; you are probably being mischievous, and possibly even downright malicious…Mind you when you are in “party” whose conference could be held in an old telephone box I guess one can get defensive…
But back to the conference…Was that you surrounded by the bodyguard of ex SA paratroopers Russell?
Possibly they forgot to mention that “set by law” really means: the mayor put’s it forward and then once people agree he gets
a majority on it, it’s deemed by law to be set. Which means the mayor can just put forward any old thing and it will still be “set by law.”
It’s similar to “passed into law”, a little word magic to give the impression that the act in question has authority.
What are the odds of people knowing what law really is when the state feeds them bullshit about it’s meaning?
Jeez, I thought PG was in a minority of one….then I took a look at the rest of the above comments…
How many of you loftily opining on whether Hide was making a joke (I am the first to agree it didnt come out right) were actually THERE? Because if you weren’t, seeing the bit that ran – entirely predictably – on TVNZ last night will give you no clue to the context…which was created by several sentences which came before…(I am assuming what was on TV3 was the same, perhaps with a bit more breathless outrage….)
However…when Hide looked down the TV3 cameras and said “bastards!” THAT was “just joking, but not really” IMO…but then I know the man well, and share his view of the quality of the MSM, TV3 in particular….
To be honest David, I couldn’t care or less what Rodney said. He’s a bit irrelevant these days (if he was ever relevant).
I couldn’t help but notice this comment from you about United Future: “Mind you when you are in “party” whose conference could be held in an old telephone box I guess one can get defensive”.
Now that’s a bit rich when United Future is polling at 0.2% and Act is polling at 0.1% (Source: Most recent Colmar Brunton poll)
That’s a 100% more
Would the resident apologists like to defend the behaviour of Cardinal Roger Mahony who when confronted with the evidence complained that because nobody told him he didn’t know that fucking around with kids wasn’t on and then when he’s called out over his appalling conduct he compares himself to his god. Fucking scum.
What I would like to know Pete, is from where did you get the bit about Hide “refus[ing] to revisit that”? That statement is not a matter of opinion, or interpretation, it is 100% untrue…Jim Hopkins – himself a former journo, so knowing exactly that the pricks were going to do with that comment – asked Hide to stay, explained with as much levity as he could why the joke didnt come out right, and asked Hide if he would like to come and “do that bit again”…which Hide then immediately did…
How in the name of Lucia’s deity can you get: ” he refused to revisit that” from THAT sequence of events? Come on PG, I’d really like to know….you can’t have been there, or this comment would be unnecessary…
bc: Have you ever heard of the margin of error? Perhaps some chap who is better informed than me on matters statistical can explain why your statement about relative electoral support is non-sensical…
One thing I’ve learned Manolo – you know things are a tad sensitive when the low blows start coming.
DG – I’m aware with how the media works. I presume you would agree that Rodney would be well aware of what the media can do with any comments made, especially at an event where media are encouraged to attend.
Presumably he would be aware of the risk of commenting as he did. Sure he was joking, that was obvious. But joking that could easily be taken as being about hating the poor and hating the Maoris – when Act already have a reputation of being anti poor and anti Maori – risks getting lambasted and scorned.
And the result of this may impact more on National – because they get milder criticism in the same vein, and Act are trying to try themselves almost inseparably with National. It might make no difference in the end for Act, but it could drag National down just a bit more. Which may be enough to lose them the next election.
DG – see this video from about 55s – Rodney says No to revisiting the “hate the poor, hate the Maori, hate the unions” from Hopkins and TV3 then cut and said “He refused and took direct aim at 3 News”.
Is that incorrect?
And, ah, most voters get their political pointers from the MSM, that’s where elections are won and lost. It may not be a great way of doing it but it’s reality.
And why would @ActParty say it is not a party view but also not dispute what was reported?
PG: Yes, that is totally incorrect…see my comment at 5.59….as anyone else who was there will confirm, THAT is what went down, not some cut and pasted version from some prick at TV3..
And on the subject of the MSM and ACT generally…
Andrea Vance from Stuff has written three pieces on the ACT conference…each one containing disparaging remarks about me (I am used to that) and “facts” that are just plain wrong. Her masterpiece this morning in the SST refers to ACT’s “zenith” of five MP’s in 2008…in fact ACT had NINE MP’s in both 1999 and 2002, a fact which Ms Vance could have verified if she had looked further than Wikipedia…seriously, Google “ACT Party” and see what you get….
This is exactly the sort of shit we got all the time from these bastards…
My census form arrived today. Perhaps it is the libertarian streak in me coming to the surface but I bloody object to some of the questions.
I can deal with the questions on page one, they are a bit intrusive but nothing that I object to answering. However page two is where the fun starts.
As far as I am concerned it is none of the governments business…
What language I speak (Q13)
What my health is like (Q16) & (Q17)
What my religion is (Q18)
If I smoke or not (Q20) & (Q21) & (Q22)
What my relationship status is (Q23)
What my qualifications are (Q26) & (Q27) & (Q28)
What my Income is (Q30) & (Q31) & (Q32)
I think that for the first time I will simply refuse to answer these questions. If the wankers want to fine me then so be it. The government has no need to know any of this information.
And now I am in full stride (and it’s not even alcohol fuelled; I am on the wagon!) I personally disagreed with ACT’s media strategy (sorry Shelley) which was basically to appease the bastards and try and be nice so we’d get at least some coverage…We would have done a lot better to say something like “You can’t be relied upon to report accurately so piss off” to the ones about which that was true, and speak to the real journos only….
As I have said on here several times, I always got a fair shake from the journos at RNZ, the supposed “Red Radio”…the questions were on point- if not always easy to answer – and I was always treated with courtesy and allowed to give my answer without being talked over….
In another era, Patrick Gower would have had his microphone shoved up his nose when he stuck it into interviewees’ faces…Not all change is progress….
Come on David, Pete is hoping that all of us ACT supporters will come across the aisle and support the one true “honest man” of NZ politics, that man with morals, the man with integrity, the man with a dead possum sitting on his head.
Since when was defending women and girls from being raped hyperbole?
You admitted that you read this -
“…To be clear, we’re not saying that individuals who identify as ‘transgendered’ are sexual predators. How can a police officer possibly know otherwise?…”
Most people like yourself Watty, have been dumbed down by all the emotion involved and simply gone along with the flow.
A while back my friends were outraged that same-sex couples are denied surrogacy here in QLD, so I asked them: “Why don’t the rights of children matter?”
This is the pathetic -and only- response that I got:
“I don’t see how their parent’s sexuality affects the rights of a child.”
I pointed out that no child in the history of the world has had ‘homosexual parents’. Every child has one mother and one father. They seriously didn’t get it watty. A child has the right to their natural mother and father.
Imagine that – the right to designer children but no rights to the natural parents. how selfish and immature!
It was the first time I was really confronted by the stupidity of such arguments and I was also surprised that it was such BRUTE stupidity.
However Watty, I am now less surprised with the comments you make!
Are you actually trying to make a fool of yourself Pete? Yes of course someone recorded it…Let’s say the cameraman and Boscawen swore affidavits that TV3′s version was cut and pasted bullshit…do you think they are going to report that? Do you think ANY of the MSM would report it?
I am starting to see why you are or were chief pamphlet deliverer for your man….Despite your claim to the contrary, you clearly have no idea how the abysmal MSM operates in this country…
Are you a betting man? I wrote a letter to the editor of the SST this morning pointing out the error in Ms Vance’s story regarding ACT’s “zenith” of five MP’s; the fact that she was about 95% out …do you think they will publish it?
DG – you should at least get on record your version of what happened, even if it doesn’t get out to MSM it should be posted or press released so there is an official rebuttal. Otherwise in the future only one version will be found easily when it is Googled.
I’m not chief pamphlet deliver for anyone but myself. Most of what I do is not party related, I operate independently. You’ve just blasted me and media for making things up, why are you doing likewise?
I’m well aware of how media operates in this country. I’ve confronted Gower over coverage myself. You can’t change what was broadcast but you have to put it on record what your side of the story is.
Did you advise Vance of her error? If you do that reasonably some journos are happy to at least acknowledge the error and are unlikely to repeat it.
Ranting and raging is the least effective way of dealing with it.
DG @ 5.59pm
Yes, I do know what a margin of error is. That’s why I put one of these next to my comment.
It’s a bit sad that ACT is polling at the margin of error though. If you do the minus part of the plus or minus the margin of error, it puts ACT at zero!
You can’t really blame the media for the low polling. Interesting comment about Radio NZ though, I tend to agree. With current affairs consisting of 15 second soundbites these days, Radio New Zealand is fast becoming the only place to get any detailed coverage about current issues.
Andrei: surely “normal people” are’nt concerned about politics at all…more about things like…Why did Harold Camping get the date of the end of the world wrong…three times; who’s going to make the rapture and who’s not; whether the next pope turns out to have been a member of the Hitler Youth or had a “special friend” at the seminary…?
The fact that you think that David shows how out of touch with everyday real people you are – which of course is why ACT is gone burger
The politicians that can connect with the people are the ones that are going to be successful, the ones who look down their noses at them, maybe even mocks the things they care about with groteseque media created caricatures well……
not only a moron but youre just sad. you actually think youre part of the game.
you think youre framing debate on blogs with your boring comments.
i can just imagine when some staffer reads one of your inane emails meant for an MP “oh god, its that fuck wit pete george again”
as for “i told act id circulate their statement” hahahahaha best they get right on it then! pete george will retweet it, blog about it and then bore us with it.. with his boring comments tacked on the end.
“….Wow Harriet, just when I think you can’t say anything more stupid then what you have said before, along comes your 6:40pm post!…”
“….Homosexual,Sir Adrian Fulford, High Court Judge and judge on the United Nations International Criminal Court has said, “We have suddenly travelled a long way in a very short period of time. To use the language of ‘Star-Trek’, it’s as if the warp-drive has suddenly been attached to LGBT rights. Pink Law will not be an anomaly but rather the shape of things to come….”
Did you get that bc? “…Pink Law will not be an anomaly but rather the shape of things to come….”
Designer kids with no rights to have their natural parents raise them – designed by those who demand rights under ‘equality’.
Andre is right. ACT are gone. Started out OK but them just became a bunch of bi-sexual progressives. And then in the utmost bizzaro move, suddenly appeared with John Banks as their leader, who had meantime morphed into a bisexual liberal himself. For fucks sake what a fuck up.
Sure they got pilloried by an extreme left media, but they were always too gutless to face down that media, (some even went so far as bawl like babies and beg for forgiveness) so they got what they deserved.

I don’t see a problem with depressed gays hanging themselves – after all – have you ever met a happily pregnant women who gets an abortion?
No you don’t, instead you meet a depressed pregnant women who has an abortion.
You’re so fucken dim Dime you’re not worth any effort at all. Just a blundering dumbarsed fuckwit who is so fucking out of touch he didn’t even know Chucky Chauvel was as queer as a church mouse. Just like your big bruvver bigot bruv, who with his hatred of the Tea party and his obsession with gun grabbing and his insane hatred of Sarah Palin and his Marxist sourced hatred of religion and his own bisexuality would be just the kind of freak Barack Obama loved to meet in the Chicago bath houses he used to frequent before he became POTUS. Both of you are so badly fucked up politically you’re no use to anyone, right or left. Good for giving head jobs to queers who like it from old white men and that’s about it.
sorry im not as fixated on other peoples sexuality as yourself.
usually the homophobes like you are the ones who secretly crave cock.
its funny how you write about wanting to be “free in the woods” (naked im guessing with some other dudes) but you also want everyone to vote conservative. the guys who want to introduce restrictive laws.
its almost like youre not against a select few being in charge, as long as youre one of them. then maybe you could get back at all the mean boys who picked on you at school.
What Dime suggests is hardly a matter that interests me. He’s just another dumb progressive troll who can’t work out its either the Maori Party or the Conservatives if he wants to keep Labour and the Greens out of power. He clearly prefers the Maori Party, so fucking good luck to him, the fucking ignorant time wasting drooling gape jawed progressive fuckwit. Just the kind of uninformed half educated dumbarse who is to blame for NZ being so far down the socialist shit hole they’ll probably never get out.
Russell: You know how the most successful of the old wildcatters – back in the days when the derricks were wood and the men were made of steel – used to walk over a lease and get a raging bar on if there was “black gold” underneath it? Were you one of them back in the day, when the Aussie desert and PNG were the new frontiers?
Damn have I heard some stories about you! Turning a nine inch collar with your bare hands when the chain tong broke….tell that to the young people today….and they’ll never believe it!
Ah, so it was that. He spurned the advances of Colin Craig. Him and over 97% of other voters.
As for the choice, some might see the Maori Party as more reliable an option than Col. After all they have done everything they said they would; supported as promised and opposed as notified. Col, on the other hand, is subject to charges of making stuff [polling] up.
I can see old Red standing at the brake… cheek swollen by a double dose of Redman..a bunch of black roughnecks cowering by the draw-works, waiting for his next order…sound effects on the play station turned up full….
The media is destroying two political parties and you guys are arguing about how boring PG is and whose party is most likely to fit in a telephone box.
Heads up, but they’re both fucked. By MMP and by a hostile media that thinks it’s heroic to portray the smaller parties as bum boys to National.
And the smaller parties fall right into the trap by the appeasement approach. “If we be nice to Gower then he won’t eviscerate us. Except he;s your typical generation X fucktard who has been fed a diet of scarcity and revolution from day one courtesy of those marxist clowns in the Greens. Instead of being neutral he thinks he’s performing some kid of public service and boom there goes our independant media.
I’d like to see more of RH arsing around because he looks human and this may serve to neutralise the hostile media. Can you tell Peter Dunne to arse around to increse his support PG?
Monique: If you have the elusive elixir which will lead the media to report politics without partiality, then Go You! At the very least, do post it here so we can all spread the good news… I’ll even risk the practising cert by helping Dime to hold Gower down while you pour a dose down his gob…
Does anyone know if journos who work for the quality papers (as they used to be called) such as the Washington Post and the Daily Telegraph are allowed to have blogs, upon which they proclaim their political opinions?
Oh I don’t know, Monique, I’m finding it quite entertaining!
Pedantic Pete trying to over-analyse Rodney Hide, Reid bitching at Pete, David Garrett bitching at Pete, Manolo bitching at Pete, everyone bitching at the MSM, everyone laughing at ACT (and Pete), dime bitching at Pete, nasska’s 8:00 joke, Red bitching at dime, David and dime bitching at Red, Red coming back at David, Pete bitching at dime, getting told he’s a moron, and then predictably moaning about it on his blog.
Peter Dunn and United Future are a waste of space!
Far from it, they are quite useful for National this term and have a deciding say on a lot of legislation.
They give National an option that doesn’t require the Maori Party, many will see that as not a waste of space.
National’s options are severely limited if they don’t have potential coalition partners in the mix. They were polling over 50% coming into the last election but that was pulled back to prevent them ruling on their own, under MMP that has never happened and it is likely to remain one of the least palatable outcomes.
So anyone that wants to increase National’s prospects in the forseeable future must see the necessity of having some support party options.
oh dear…Bedwetter has been on the gins at the old folks home.
Plus he called me a poof….how will I cope???
Never mind, the poor old lad can run off to his censored blog where he can call us all names and have the likes of kris and D4J agree with him.
Oh..and Dime, while I think that you might be right about bedwetter being a bottom I think that he may well be bisexual. If there is any masturbating being done by the demented old prick it will be why he is dreaming of Lucia Maria.
At birth a baby needs to attach to his mother. In the first months of his life, she must be available to appropriately meet his needs, to smile on him, to delight in his smiles. He learns to trust mother-love. Then as her son matures, she must allow separation and encourage competence. The baby crawls away from the mother and then looks back, checking for her presence, her approval. At some point in the first two years of life the baby realizes that there are two sexes and to which he naturally belongs. He identifies with his father. The mother must not stand in the way of his relationship with the father. The father must be available for identification.
Joseph Nicolosi speaks of the importance of shared delight, moments when father and son engage in an activity that is mutually pleasurable. For example, the father tosses his son up in the air. At first the boy is a little frightened, but then realizes that he is safe and this is fun and wants the activity repeated again and again. The mother may object “Be careful.” But the father ignores her. It is in moments like this that the boy takes the first steps on his journey to manhood.
A child will not identify between their gay parents – no matter how ‘butch’ one may be.
If an 8 yld child decides that living in a gay relationship is not suitable for them, they by law will have to stay.
PEB: No, firkin nothing…not even on Sky….this is much the best show in town tonight…well, perhaps not “in town”, but certainly out here in the rural sector…Johnboy and his sheep jokes must be due shortly…
Russell: Are you aware of the new game for your playstation? It’s called “Pulling hard”…You’re stuck in the hole, at 8,420 feet…the company man is flying out and is going to run you off if you’re not free by the time he gets there…you’ve given two blackfellas a good hiding round the back of the sump, but a ute full of their mates has just arrived at the lease…Which threat are you going to deal with first?
I have to quote David Garret from another thread here today which sums up this thread ……the sordid mire….. lovin’ it and of course BB your question was the question we all wanted to ask, really it was – mint
Harriet: since it’s Sunday and all…your comment reminds me of one of the great quotes…after Elton John successfully sued some British rag which claimed he played with boys at his mansion, he said on the courtroom steps: “They can call me a fat poof who can’t sing, but they mustn’t tell lies about me”…Good eh?
Russell: Kanohi Road is the first on your right, heading north past the KKK pub on SH 16…
Oh Harriet…and here’s me being all charitable and trying to tell an amusing anecdote from the Inns of Court, aimed at no-one here…
Dime: You can just see him in those leather chaps; the ones with no arse in it, and the frills all up the outside of the legs…Black scarf hanging out of the left top pocket, signalling things to the other hard leather men that red blooded chaps like you and me don’t want to know about..
Russell: Shit, you’ve been out and cased the joint already! How did you know the old Jag was built when the company was controlled by British Leyland? Must be those military field glasses….you can’t see the rust from the road….
Hey dime….if you havn’t already gone to bed to have a pull over big titted tarts…..click on last nights GD…..the last video link on the page I posted for Johnboy, has a fucken hot chick singing in french…..
You got me there Russell..no, fair do’s…I did have to severely trim the ‘tache back when the hard leather men got the wrong idea…how did you work out the signals in those bars in the Village? What with you having left school at 14…
jesus, you have been spying russell! yes, I admit it…started at 14, out by 31 with a couple of pieces of parchment…but by Godfathers I never did manage 8000 feet of open hole….it takes a rare Man to do that…
