Our political spectrum has swung so far to the left that the style of government we elect only determines how fast we head towards total economic meltdown.

Our political parties are only differentiated by the scale and focus of their re-distributive largesse, not by any policy of substance, designed to build a better country for for children and grandchildren.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.

John Key needs to actually start with some of the more “populist” policies that “right-wingers” are said to have.

Growing a pair, for starters. The same applies to his party of wimps and catamites.

Now, I know they haven’t cracked down at all, they’ve barely done a thing, but the majority of the public doesn’t want partners of beneficiaries to get away with being complicit in ripping off the taxpayer.

The bonus is that Labour knows these moves are popular, so you get a vague, stupid sounding “we agree with the princ.. uh, um, needs to.. uh be, further checks and…” when they try to argue against it.

John Key needs to actually start with some of the more “populist” policies that “right-wingers” are said to have. Increasing penalties for violent crime is a good one, and extending the BeneCard to beneficiaries with drug convictions would be another.

Unfortunately he’s in a coalition with a racist party, and is trying to pass the most misunderstood and emotive issue (“asset sales”) at the same time having to bribe the Maori Party – and has made nearly no progress!

In theory, a poll of 1000 has about a margin of error of about 3% – basic stats – there are world of assumptions around that – many of which while not true are true enough to add a couple of per cent to the accuracy figure. So the inaccuracy can easily be 5%. The accumulation of polls is a much better figure.

Let’s see it at over 50% for three consecutive polls before we get too excited, but at least we can have a chuckle over the angsting in both Labour and the Greens (they’ll be fuming at a drop to 10-odd percent.)
