Wednesday Wallpaper | Pataua South, Northland

early morning view of Pataua South beach

Early Morning, Pataua South, Northland. New Zealand landscape

This is one of my favourite images from last month’s Northern sojourn.  On the previous evening I had headed out barefoot to wash my coffee cup and half an hour later found myself at the top of this hill (with very sore feet).  I resolved to return the next morning to chance my arm at a shot (suitably be-hooved this time) – and this was the pick of the bunch IMHO.

Enjoy!

I like this one so much that I have loaded it as a canvas print.

Cheers – Todd

    Nice!

I especially like that squat, round, angry-looking little tuft of grass… defiantly and indefatigably growing all alone on its own barren unassailable rock pinnacle; while every kind of beauty flourishes all around.

An emblem for so many of our friends on these forums…

[Apologies if duplicate comment, first effort has disappeared]

If no party is willing to take off GST from food and vegies, is there any real competition between parties

ha ha @RRM – yes that was one angry little munter of a grass – (he) tossed a stone at me while I was headed down the hill and told me that I was a talentless hack. Just another Wednesday at the office for me ;-)

@hinamanu – I think there may be a cabbage tree in there somewhere, but that is about it for the vegies I am afraid…

    Thanks @Ryan Sproull!

Ha, know that view as I took the family there for a summer holiday, stayed just on the estuary out of shot to the right. There’s a motor camp there as well, but not a large one as I recall. Went kayaking on the estuary, cruised around on that beach and on the North side as well. A bit off the main track as the road doesn’t connect further North, the estuary gets in the way although it’s not that large.

Northland is full of beautiful beaches, by far the best in the country, IMHO, although there’s a few in Coramandel to match and maybe the best beaches in the Abel Tasman area, at least to look at.

As I recall, it is quite a climb as we went up there with two primary school age children. Nice shot.
