Obviously they don’t count home brew in those stats. My beer consumption has rocketed up since I started getting into home brew. I don’t think the cost savings have eventuated

When I was younger it was all about the quantity. Now its about the quality. I now drink a lot less but overall pay more for my total alcohol.

Off topic but in the spirit of St Pats day.
Sister Mary joined the Nunnery. Since she was quite naive the Mother Superior thought it would be a good idea for her to do the shopping in town. The first couple of times she was very late. The Mother Superior was a bit concerned but didnt want to destroy her confidence so decided to go with her next time.
As they were driving into town , a Traffic cop put his lights on and asked them to pull over. The MS thought it was odd as Mary was driving fine.
As they looked at the cop approaching the car they saw him unzip his fly.
Sister Mary turned to the Mother Superior and said ” Oh Lord no, not another Breathalyser”

Which means, if our average consumption as a nation has fallen, a lot of you out there aren’t pulling your weight. According to the linked article, we now rank behind Americans in terms of beer consumption. Americans! This country can maintain its honour with beer consumption lower than true afficionados like the Czechs, Germans and Irish – but Americans? Oh, the shame….
