Bryce Edwards has a great collection of images around the debate. They range from cartoons to the voting sheets to newspaper headlines. Some of my favourites are:

Put some up that don’t degrade an institution that is 2000 yrs old and very important – otherwise you may ‘offend’ your friends who will soon get Married.

Now you have to conform to us AND the gays!

They’re on my side now David!

    Hey David
Homosexual marriage was last week’s liberal cause.
I thought you had moved on to making killing pre-born babies easier.

[DPF: Nope euthanasia next. Killing babies is too easy. Killing old people much more challenging to get thorugh]

We live in a society where having a strong opinion is considered tantamount to being an extremely intolerant bigot.

Just merely holding a strong opinion.

The progressives have done an incredible job at numbing the masses and shutting down rational debate.

Anything is now possible, because all that oppose ‘the agenda’ are monsters.

My wife bumped into someone I happen to have on my facebook page, he told her he enjoys my ‘rants’ and perspective on things, but is to afraid to comment.

Because having a strong opinion is tantamount to bigotry you see.

We are both generation X, and my guess is that our generation and younger have been conditioned this way more than most.

We are an incredible weak society if we can’t even hold a strong opinion any longer, superficiality is the altar that most would appear to worship at, and it’s to our collective hurt.

Marriage doesn’t mean what it used to mean now.
By changing it to allow for same-sex couples we have effectively taken it away from them as well in the same action.

It’s like a woman who wants to join one of those old men-only clubs and fights for a rule change to be allowed to join. By changing the definition to allow women, the institution is then not unique and loses the whole purpose for which it was formed.

It’s the same with marriage: by redefining it they have decaffeinated it and largely watered down it’s purpose and value – the whole reason it existed in the first place.

So, in the end, we ALL lose.

    So tetraplegics are out then?

    Sure they are!

That’s the left’s main reason for euthanasia, as most people with terminal illnesses now live up to their very last 5-6 days in reasonable health.[they are generaly able to walk about, communicate with family and friends, eat, ect]

It will be very very hard to get this through, with the wall of silence going up by NZ health like they did with abortion.

Behind that wall of silence they then extended the ‘vague and broad’ abortion laws. They will do exactly this with euthanasia under ‘privacy laws’.

People will not let the government do this with actual living humans. As sick people may not be in the right frame of mind to make decisions. Especially those who are very old, with money, and fuckwit liberal minded kids!

This is not about people’s rights to die – but the rights of doctors to say WHO DIES and WHEN!

    “Killing babies is too easy”

the socialists, feminists and relativists saw to that.

Progressives will ensure killing babies remains easy. It is a “right” after all.

What did your marriage “mean” last week and what does it “mean” this week? Just curious to see what changed, specifically for you and your wife.

Oh, poor poor Shunda, playing the victim card again.

The problem is that those against same sex marriage were not interested in having a rational debate at all, because they didn’t have any rational arguments.

You can have all the strong opinions that you want. That doesn’t make you a bigot.
Even having strong opinion without any rational arguments, that doesn’t make you a bigot either,

Having strong opinions without any rational basis about other people, who are not like you and wanting to discriminate against them. That makes you a bigot.

Absolutely fuck all, I was genuinely waiting fo the sky to fall and all that shit or my wife to walk out on me ( it doesn’t need and act of Parliament for that to happen). Nope nothing nada nil, we both went to work on thursday and I still do what I’m told. All in all pretty disappointing, I was really hoping that something, anything would happen but no.

There was a hilarious letter in the Press on friday that said:

‘Acceptance of gay marriage is GOD’S CURSE.’

Which I’m quite fine with, as a curse that only annoys opponents of gay marriage is pretty sweet!

Damned straight, I’m all for that as long as you give me at least 12 months to spend it all before you top me and note that I may fight back.

Keep it alive guys! Eighteen months till the next election.

Were there any anti-gay marriage cartoons in the MSM? Thought not. No balance. Newspaper chains owned by foreigners who don’t give a fuck about New Zealand, and who are stuck with two lemons, and no buyers interested.

The journos’ nightmare: the Moonies’ Unification Church business arm buys the Hooerald and Fairfucked NZ to add to its stable, which includes the Washington Times and the agency UPI. What a hoot that would be!

“We live in a society where having a strong opinion is considered tantamount to being an extremely intolerant bigot.

    Wrong.

Having an opinion – for example, believing that marriage should be strictly heterosexual – is fine. Wanting to force that opinion on my family, to their detriment, by law, when they have done nothing wrong – that is not fine. That I will fight.

You want to ban gay marriage in your church? Go ahead. Fine with me. You’ve got every right to do that (provided the other members of your church agree). I’ll probably encourage everyone I know to leave your church – but if they feel the same way you do, they’ll ignore me, and if they feel the same way I do, they’ll leave whether I encourage them or not.

But if you want to deny my cousin the same rights under law that your cousin enjoys – when my cousin pays her taxes, has never broken the law, and has done nothing wrong – if you want to deny her the same legal standing as you and I have, just because she happened to fall in love with a woman – then you are trying to force your prejudices on my family by law, and that makes you a bigot.

Again – having your opinion is fine. Forcing everyone else to bend to your opinion is not. Quite simple, really.

Men married women long before there were churches and so it has been throughout history. Same-sex folks can attend any ceremony they like but it ain’t real marriage. Not opinion, just fact.
