One thing I am curious about, god had the little kids dashed to death before their parents eyes, is he now torturing those little kids for infinity in hell ?

Religion had done more to deny human rights, inflict death and misery, and hold back the advancement of civilisation, than socialism has. Yet you fail to speak out. That double standard is very revealing.

you seem to think for some reason that im ashamed of it? no chance in hell.

selling cars was my first job out of uni. turns out i had a knack for it 😀 i learned more in the first 3 months selling cars than i did doing my business degree.

at age 22, i earned 65K aussie + car in the first 8 months i worked. by 25 i was a manager earning huge money. i had a fucking ball too 😀 Dime took a massive pay cut when he moved home and changed career.

imho the fastest way to a high position in a company is through the sales department. selling cars is one of the hardest things to sell.
95% of the people you meet dont like you (because youre a big scary car salesman), they are scared of being ripped, they tend to be assholes to show they arent scared. they think they are being scammed. i was new cars. my job was to get people to like me and trust me. its an art 🙂 most people wont spend more than 100 bucks with someone they dont like. so yeah, Dime learned a lot about human nature. how to relate to people. i learned empathy which took a while 😀 i started out ruthless but mellowed over time.. made more money being less ruthless too.

so yeah, keep going with the ex car salesman title for as long as you like. im proud of it.

What to call the North and South Islands is shaping up as the most contentious naming issue since the great Whanganui ”H” debate.

It has been proposed that both the English and Maori names, Te Ika-a-Maui and Te Waipounamu, be adopted.

Both English and Maori ! South Island Te Waipounamu, North Island Te Ika-a-Maui. That is way too long. It is even more silly when you consider written Maori is an invention of the colonists oppressors.

I’m not sure why we would be making a big deal about this – why are we even questioning retaining the common usage of North and South Islands? After all, this whole thing just appears to be a response to the reminder that the names have never been formally gazetted. (The Maori names should be gazetted also so that both English and Maori are accepted as official.)

What really struck me though is that some 52 of 109 submissions would object to naming a ridge line after Sir Ed? I struggle to understand why – it’s not like they tried to rename the mountain after him.

Hadn’t seem your comment. Nothing to be lost by allowing the Maori also – as it stands both the English and Maori references are not formally adopted. Far simpler just to gazette both versions (they are talking about doing so such that English and Maori versions are not obliged to both be referenced every time.)

I’m not surprised the north island and the south island weren’t gazetted. They seem more like simple descriptions than names. Same for Northland and Southland, and East Coast and West Coast. It’s a wonder they didn’t call Aoraki/Mt Cook “High Mountain” or “Cloud Piercer”.

I don’t know why people get upset by dual names. You’re free to use whichever one you want. South Island doesn’t seem particularly enduring or endearing to me anyway.

I know of journalists who have been labelled racist and threatened with disciplinary action if they dare to leave out the ‘H’ in Wanganui..
Newsreaders etc WILL refer to the South Island and North Island by their new made-up Maori names only- Mark my words.
And don’t get me started on what will happen in our Schools- You do know that most Schoolteachers are forcing the Maori names on our kids already?

* Which reminds me- A mate is looking at Daycare centres for his little one, he tells me that every single one he has looked at so far has ‘compulsory’ Maori songs and prayers..this country is well and truly fucked!

Over five decades of social science research have told us just how bad things are for children when the father is absent. By every social indicator, children fare far worse when deprived of their biological dads. Whether we talk about educational performance, drug use, criminal activity or suicide rates, all these problems are compounded when children grow up without fathers.

Of course as with anything, there can be exceptions here. But exceptions do not make the rule. As David Blankenhorn once put it:

“Unless we reverse the trend of fatherlessness, no other set of accomplishments – not economic growth or prison construction or welfare reform or better schools – will succeed in arresting the decline of child well-being and the spread of male violence. To tolerate the trend of fatherlessness is to accept the inevitability of continued societal recession.”

“Half of all children born in the UK are being raised by one parent, usually the mother, ‘and every year an additional 20,000 people, mainly women, join the throngs of those raising children more or less singlehandedly,’ according to a new report by the Centre for Social Justice.

“The report, titled ‘Fractured Families: Why Stability Matters,’ called it a ‘conservative estimate’ that a million children in Britain grow up having ‘no meaningful contact at all’ with their fathers. This is compounded by the ‘dearth’ of male teachers in schools.

“The effect of the absence of fathers, they said, has been ‘devastating’: ‘Children with separated, single or step-parents are 50 per cent more likely to fail at school, have low self-esteem, struggle to make friends and with their behaviour. They often battle with anxiety or depression throughout the rest of their lives’.”

Peter Hitchens has written a good commentary on this study and is worth citing here: “Our 45-year national war against traditional family life has been so successful that almost 50% of 15-year-olds no longer live with both their parents. At the same time we have indulged our neglected and abandoned young with electronics, so that 79% of children aged between 5 and 16 have bedroom TVs.

“And as we soppily mark ‘Father’s Day’ with cards, socks, sentimentality and meals out, we should remember that in almost all cases the absent parent is the father. There is no doubt about the facts here. Let me list some of them. The cost of our wild, unprecedented national experiment in fatherlessness is now £49 billion each year, more than the defence budget. This figure, currently costing each taxpayer £1,541 per year, is rising all the time, and has gone up by almost a quarter since 2009.
