SPC 1:43 pm This is a big topic in the world and to a lesser extent in NZ.

How do you approach the topic of family size? How do you talk about who should have children and how many? Is there a right answer? There’s no easy answer.

If you ask me what I think would happen without an effort to ease overcrowding…. goodness me… the biggest cost would perhaps be social and psychological dysfunction, a widening social divide, class resentment by those in poor conditions, lower achievement and generally higher levels of misery.

The PC answer would be that these people are NZders… therefore you do your best to care for them. From a practical point of view… spending money on housing could save money in healthcare costs, social costs etc… in other hidden ways.

Another view: people are happy to be alive, even if they’re miserable. So….. let’s increase the population as much as possible, and that’s ok because it’s all about having as many happy miserable people alive as possible.

The moral philosophy of it is all crippling. Unless you’re an underclass parent. First world living standards and a third world mentality are like oil and water. As the pool of no-hopers/ low skill workers grows ever larger, the number of jobs they can apply for doesn’t keep up with their demand, and they make each other unemployed, or jobless longer, or lower paid. Or welfare dependent. Motivation drops, role models disappear. Social dysfunction becomes the norm.

What’s the unemployment rate for the unskilled/ low skilled? Forget the national rate… that’s an aggregate number. The tip of the iceberg… what lies beneath the surface?

But forget all that… because people are happy to be alive under any circumstances… we should encourage the creation of, and applaud all, children born in NZ and large families are great.

Left Right and Centre, it is more complicated than just family size, there are 2 families sharing accommodation to make it affordable, and also extended families (sometimes related to welfare dependency but not necessarily) for whom the housing stock was not designed for.

WOF rental accommodation will reduce some of the impact of unhealthy homes, by having warmer less condensation/mould environments. But household numbers can be such as to create unhealthy conditions – so maybe there need to be some constraints on the number of people that a landlord can allow to stay in a property?

The question is whether this can done before housing stock was developed for families as they are now.

Arrogant and out of touch with real NZ, they just cannot believe that there is a large sector of the population who does not buy into the mindless group think that characterises their political views.

The comments I made opposing marriage redefinition especially earned warm support, and later polls on the issue showed that the general view was against when Slater and his sycophants and cowards were constantly claiming the opposite. So large up votes for my comments were actually in line with public thinking. Slater and his crawling fuckwit/ gay boy followers could not cope with this simple truth.

Self obsessed and narcissistic urban liberal progressives ensconced in their little group think enclaves really do not speak and think for all of NZ. There is a another NZ out there, and you progs need to think about that before you make cowardly unfounded allegations in deluded attempts to support your own arrogant self righteousness.

SPC 7:03 pm Yep.. I’m fully aware of more than one family sharing a house scenarios in NZ. Family size is a also factor though… especially family size relative to economic potential and actual income. I agree… extended family as well further complicates circumstances.

Wof for rentals sounds on the face of it like a beneficial concept. I’m developing an automatic ‘the devil is in the detail’ response to ideas like that… and the effects it would have on the housing market… unintended negative consequences etc.

I do wonder in regard to health problems whether overcrowding itself causes the health problem or if overcrowding is just a good predictor of who is more likely to lack the education and life skills to know how to perform basic cleanliness and sanitary tasks to prevent the breeding grounds for infections.

Not now- but I’d want to do a bit of research into some of these infections that the overcrowded people get to know why exactly they are more likely to become infected than higher socio-economic groups? Eg.. is it dirty clothes, unclean food preparation/ food handling practice? Poor bedding, pure physical proximity to each other… so if one person gets sick everyone gets sick? Are they weaker through poor diet, lack of heating, poor lifestyle?

You see rentals where the landlord does place occupant limits on the tenancy. I had a g/f in a council flat and they had a specified limits of two adults/ two children for two bedroom flats. The worst of the underclass ignore all of that of course. Wof for rentals limiting number of occupants still begs the question; where do you put them? Not enough space. And this issue raises a lot of other questions.

Do the investigators typically take the same position that you have defaulted to ? Eg: The Police could not have possibly done anything wrong and it should not even be considered as part of the “investigation”.

Or do they do a real investigation where the facts create the findings ?

Ex g/f had a friend with a son, and he lived at the end of a hallway… in a small space with a bay window In Mt Victoria (not all of Mt Vic is full of high earning desk bound fuckwits) in one of the old shitty houses. Big enough for a child’s bed and not much else. Not a bedroom. It didn’t have a door… it had a makeshift curtain. Ex g/f bought pajamas for the boy because the ones he had he’d badly outgrown (and they were probably tatty and worn out).

I’ve seen stuff… I’m not rich myself… and although I might puke redneck on KB about the ‘fuckin underclass’ I’m not so easy to sum up as not giving a shit about folks on the bottom.

In a dramatic announcement — finally addressing shareholders after a slew of broker downgrades this week — Newcrest set the scene for one of the nation’s biggest corporate losses, when between $5bn and $6bn of writedowns on mines in Papua New Guinea, Australia and Africa are taken in its August full-year results report. The announcement accelerated a recent hammering of Newcrest’s share price, sending the stock down $1.01, or 7.6 per cent, to a nine-year low of $12.35.

Electrical Trades Union compares Newman Government to Nazi regime in controversial advertisement

A UNION ad comparing the Newman Government to the Nazi regime and featuring an image of Adolf Hitler has been labelled “deplorable” by the Jewish community.

The full-page ad, which was placed in today’s Courier-Mail by the Electrical Trades Union, features a large image of Hitler in full Nazi regalia, and states the former German leader would be “proud” of the LNP’s new industrial relations laws.

It features an anti-union quote from Hitler from 1933, when the Nazi leader said “We must close union offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison.”

Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies president Jason Steinberg said the advertisement was “deplorable and inappropriate”.

“Any analogy of the Nazi genocide in Australian public debate is totally inappropriate,” he said.

“It trivialises the Nazi regime (and) it diminishes how evil Hitler was in killing six million Jews and Gypsies and Australian forces who fought against them.”

An advertisement by the ETU condemning the Newman Government has been condemned as inappropriate.

Mr Steinberg said there were still Holocaust survivors living in Brisbane and Queensland, and it was “totally” disrespectful to them and they would be “appalled” to see the comparison made.

He said while political leaders in Australia were fair game, the advertisement went “way too far”.

The Courier-Mail has also fielded calls from members of the public complaining about the advertisement, which also features a quote by Martin Luther King praising civil disobedience.

One caller said the civil rights activist would be “rolling around in his grave” if he knew his words were placed next to an image of the Nazi leader.

Another caller from Cleveland said the advertisement was offensive and in “very poor taste”, while another said she was “horrified” to see the image of Hitler in the advertisement.

The advertisement was placed by the ETU in response to controversial new laws passed by the Newman Government this week, which force union bosses to disclose their pay and perks.

Unions have slammed the laws as “extreme”, saying they will shut down democratic debate and freedom of expression while protecting industrial organisations and business interests.

The advertisement states Queensland unions have a “proud history” of standing up against destructive governments and fighting for justice for all workers, and calls on workers to stand against the new laws.

The ETU has been contacted for comment.

Sadly this sort of treatment is common and you need to read more. Your appeals to emotion show how lacking in substance your position is. I could ask if you have spoken to those who have lived under various other murderous regimes. Have you ?

The idea that Jews suffered some unique mistreatment is a myth used by (some) Jews to avoid accountability and to plead for special treatment. In a war of 70 million dead, some Jews died. Get over it. Many Jews agree with me.

So in answer to the question asked- “is there any evidence” the answer is a clear “no”.

My parents did their best to instill some good Catholic morality into me, and one of the things they were pretty strict on was that one should never accuse anyone of dishonesty without convincing evidence.

Petal is a prog brought up by progs who obviously wasn’t taught this simple lesson in courtesy, decency and self respect. He is a coward and his unfounded judgments are just arrogant bigotry.

Kea, like I said uneducated. Apparently you think because you have read a few books and can quote this stuff as history you understand it. Nah.
Plenty of examples in the world if you want to look but that doesn’t excuse it nor does should it be used in the way it was to attack Newman. Its a fail, especailly as the Aussie Unions are not much better behaved than the Nazi’s.

That the Jew’s keep reminding the world of the behavoir of the Nazi’s is a good thing. Certainly the people I met that survived the camps were not so self centred as to consider that it was just about them. Their rational was that the world should not forget the horrors inflicted on many including the Jews.

A bit like our own Last Post.

I believe in freedom of expression. No if, not but, no nothing. The very worse reason to restrict freedom of expression is on the grounds of claiming “offence” to something. It is manipulative attention seeking and nothing more.

So I am wondering why you avoided my question regarding if you had spoken with people who have lived through other murderous regimes ?

Your concern, about these sorts of things, does not seem to extend much past the welfare of Jews. Maybe that is where we differ. I do not think they are gods special folk. I am an atheist and regard all religion as equally worthless.

The 6 million figure was apparently arrived at by estimating how many Jews were in Europe before the war and comparing that with an estimate of how many remained at the conclusion of the war. All Jews alive at that time are considered “holocaust survivors”.

No figures are available on how many people were alive before and after the war for other religions. Just for Jews. Of course we are told that was “different” they were targeted. But that is utter crap. Many other groups were targeted too and we hear nothing much about them.

I note the Gypsies did not get a country (occupied by people who had lived there thousands of years) and are persecuted to this day.

UT, you should read Conjuring Hitler if you haven’t already. It’s about how the UKUSA created Hitler as part of the grand strategy formulated in the late 1800’s to prevent Germany from ever allying itself with Russia, which would have threatened the British Empire.

For those who say that’s bullshit, read the book before you say that. Otherwise your conclusion is based on what?

Interestingly, the book was easily found on Google until very recently. Now most pdfs of it have been deleted from the free sites.
