Yesterday at 1 p.m. DPF posted the outrageous post about iwi being exempt from laws that any sane New Zealander would consider quite inappropriate. No mention in any other news media.
Then at 7.05 p.m. yesterday Liabour’s a Joke posted a joke that went down very well in my golf club captain’s speech today. This place is special.

I have jbeen involved in firms recently grappling with the new AML laws and the reporting obligation was on the firm to monitor transactions and report them to the DIA if they suspected any irregularities. A far left fanboy like yourself may wish for the government to monitor all bank transactions to put in place your Stalinist economic policies, but currently this doesn’t happen in any way, shape, or form.

The fact that most of GD has been arguing about this shitty policy all day and how you could drive a truck through it, tends to suggest it is more complex than you think.

With uS banks able to print money and they can use that to outbid people in NZ.

Printing money devalues the currency, so the US printing money actually makes NZ property more expensive for holders of USD.

Who needs the looney Labour-Greens Powell Property Policy when the foreign countries are taking care of the problem for them?

This whole housing in Auckland business could be solved in five minutes. The government makes a law making it illegal for foreign owners to buy property in NZ with the penalty being full confiscation. Foreign owners are now faced with the massive risk, of total loss, for their returns and they will avoid NZ property like the plague. This will cause the market to subside back to local fundamentals and Kiwi’s can once again afford to live in NZ. It’s what the Chinese do to us, so they can’t really stand there and complain if we follow their lead. Simple and effective.

Stop bending over NZ. Stand up straight and you wont get fucked in the ass…

Sorry to all leveraged up property speculators visiting this blog. If any of you have anything to sell, sell now or forever hold your losses.

As to your earlier question about property sold to non-resident foreigners..

Alexander has said he does not agree that foreign buyers are to blame for Auckland’s soaring house prices but that a debate on foreign ownership restrictions probably should be had.

Around 2001-02 it was less than 1 USD for every 2 NZD, so the foreign buying of NZ property has clearly got significantly more difficult.

It’s possible to go one step further: how do you deal with people, originally from China but now NZ citizens, who can access China-sourced funds on more favourable terms than those available to other NZ citizens borrowing locally?

Martinh claimed to have “battered away” all of the pesky questions put to him, in his own mind at least, so I imagine the answer is very simple.

I’ll tell yas how to fix the housing affordability crisis. Get John Key to organize another raid on the NZ currency, and drive it down to $0.4 usd. That would half the value of any property being held by Chinese banks, seeing as they peg their currency to the usd, and force a mass panic sell off as they all suddenly become equity negative. Hugely profitable for little ol NZ.

Then when the selling stops the prices bounce back and all is calm in the jungle once again.

Ahhh the joys of 21st century currency wars…:)
