I can’t just bleat like a blowhard on KB girls… I actually walk the walk. I’ve literally just got back in from a 20’20” 5km lap.

That really is almost 4 mins per km. Just for noddy who hates people bragging.

Oooo…. that’s getting closer to the holy grail of a sub 20 5km lap!! Yeehaa!!

Thanks noddy… people talking bullshit is a great motivator. Keep going… I might break 20 minutes….

LRC, you would have to catch me first. I might add that when I ran my fastest I was also squatting my best. You really need to stop mincing along the water front and include hills and squats 🙂

Kea 11:01 pm yeah – run hills and do squats. Why? I’m not a pro sportsperson… what’s the fucking point of that shit? I’m not trying to do anything or be anything or prove anything. Fast times are ok – but that’s it. I’m not killing myself trying to set personal records.

Why don’t I do a Kea – and just offer unsolicited advice that I assume you must’ve thought of before. Like – use the leg press instead of tradtional squats because you are less likely to end up with a fucked back like noddy… even with the alleged ‘not as good’ factor.

And noddy talking about the benchpress as a ‘core’ exercise. pffffff – bollocks!! Olympic weightlifters don’t need that shit. I think they’re probably a bit better than noddy at any time in his lifting life.

See this dude? Looks like he’s in unreal shape. Doesn’t benchpress.

All of that physical strength and power – and yet so easily hurt and weak emotionally. Precious delicate sensitive little flower can’t take his teeny weeny fragile ego being challenged. Poor darling. Must be a big fall for people who rate themselves so highly.

LRC, hills are very rewarding. It is not about proving anything.

Leg press does not develop the supporting muscles to the same degree. That is one of the reasons squats are not just a leg work out, they do your whole body.

You have to weigh up whether it’s worth the trade-off. I don’t think anything that can leave a person with crippling back issues and long-term damage really falls into the ‘health’ category or the ‘fitness’ category. ‘Dumbarse’ category maybe? I do seated squats with an 87kg limit. I don’t want to lift more than that anyway – fuck it. Perfect form or not – it’s inherently tough on the back / spine.

There you go… my hero Scooby reckons they’re not worth the upside. He hates the benchpress too and doesn’t do them.

Can’t do hills – got too many kms to do on my own track. And I’m not doing any extra!!

You’ll see bodybuilders who have switched from squat to leg press. Usually after their back breaks, or seeing someone else’s back break, and they usually have to squat for a long time first before they switch after the wear and tear catches up with them. They must find other means of developing their supporting muscles. But then a lot of them are bright cookies at finding an alternative solution.

Running at 2:40am sucks. It’s dark and cold… have to dress up warm…. no beautiful blue sky or white clouds or sunshine. No cars or people though… now there’s an upside. 15 down, 5 to go. Doing it 5kms at a time… that’s just cheating, innit?

And running at 6:25am isn’t much better. At least the daylight is coming super early now… can see what I’m doing. That’s it… up to date… 20 out of 20. 21’16″…cor… I’m liking the 5km lap times compared to 10km runs… no sweat.
