New York wrap up

NYC0028

Happened to walk past Erin Brady, happens to be the current Miss USA. She is a financial accountant, as well as a model.

NYC0027

Enjoying a drink in Times Square a few hours before the flight home.

NYC0026

Had a walk down by the Hudson River.

NYC0025

New Jersey on the other side.

NYC0024

I liked the colouring of group of buildings.

NYC0023

This is a replica of El Galeón, a 17th century galleon.

NYC0022

Also on the Hudson was the USS Intrepid, which is now a museum.  On board they have several planes and the Space Shuttle Enterprise. Didn't tour it, but looked interesting.

NYC0021

Had to laugh at this. A union has put up this giant rat opposite the office of John Catsimatidis, who is seeking the Republican mayoral nomination. He is coming second in polling at the moment, so may end up as the nominee.

NYC0020

Times Square is full of people dressed up (or not) in various costumes, hoping people will give them money for photos with them.

NYC0019

I love Times Square. It is so busy and intense. Love to do a New Years Eve there.

NYC0017

As far as I can tell, there are no houses in Manhattan. Only apartments.

NYC0006

This is at the Chelsea Markets. Some great shopping there.

NYC0007

Since the High Line opened, the Chelsea Markets have got more crowded.

NYC0005

In the background is the Tower of the new One World Trade Centre. It is 104 stories tall, and is the third tallest building in the world. The height of 1,776 feet is deliberate.

NYC0004

I liked this sign. They really don't like parkers!

NYC0030

We had to catch a 3 pm train to New Jersey to fly out from there so had a final visit to . This is the memorial for John Lennon at Strawberry Fields.

NYC0031

Had a drink at the Loeb Boathouse.

NYC0032

Lots of people enjoying the lake.

I love Central Park. I achieved one of my goals, by getting up at 6.30 am and doing a run around the entire park, before it got too hot. It's perimeter is over six miles long, and it stretches from 59th Street to 110th Street.

I did an okay time around the park, but noticed I was getting passed by a fair few people. Only at the end did I realise the NYC triathlon was on, and I was in the middle of it. Made me feel better about getting passed 🙂

Sadly am now back in New Zealand. Have run out of money, so won't be doing any more overseas holidays for a while!

We drove over 4,000 miles in the RV, and passed through 20 states. Was a great road trip.
