Six candidates for Wellington Mayor

August 17th, 2013 at 5:30 pm by David Farrar

There are six candidates standing for Wellington Mayor. They are:

Rob Goulden
John Morrison
Karunanidhi Muthu
Jack Yan
Celia Wade-Brown
Nicola Young

I doubt any candidate will get over 50% of first preferences, so it will come down to how the preferences flow as candidates get eliminated

Never give Celia a preference. If you do so then once aging she could win.

    Celia Wade-Brown will piss in.

What is Kurana Muthu standing for Mayor – he’s a lightweight. Complete waste of his time. Even his candidacy for the Eastern Ward would be hopeful.

Considering Wellingtonians are suckers for a nice accent, Celia Wade-Brown will be the winner……

So ABC (anyone but Celia). I am still pissed at Morrison for voting for the stupid working wage bullshit. But seems he has best chance about the greenie who was too ashamed to admit she was a greenie.. The tantrum packing greenie mayor will be listed as sixth. And I will make sure my wife’s voting form is the same.

Well, why don’t we all wait and see.
The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

Either the good folks of Wellington are stupid morons or,
they will vote in a Mayor who may do their city some good.

    Time will tell.

Placing Celia Wade-Brown as #6 preference on the voting paper seems to be an eminently sensible starting point. If Wellington voters do not get that, then they will end up with the mayor they deserve.

Then again, we’ve got Michael bloody Laws standing for the mayoralty in Wanganui because his eight-year-old daughter told him to, so I’d probably best shut up while I’m ahead :D

Why did Morrison support that stupid working wage proposal? I bet there are plenty of people now getting a wage rise who are young people still studying and living at home, or old people already getting National Super, etc. Why should I as a ratepayer support these people? I already support a house full of students who can’t find a job!

As someone who lives outside earthquake city one has to say what a disappointing lineup. Is that all Wellington has to offer.
It has to be Morrison surely?

Whatever happened to that nice Sir Michael Fowler?

I’ll always remember this: “……he backed a controversial Wellywood sign in a handwritten letter to The Dominion Post, describing its critics as “dumb, humourless, totally irrelevant and probably Irish”.

That’s the sort of up-and-at-’em Mayor Wellington needs!! Go Sir Michael!!

We don’t need left leaning mayors anywhere. They are fiscally dyslexic fools, enhanced by lunatic Brown in Auckland. Let’s have principal ratepayers only, voting in local body elections, then we will purge the useless trough-snouting left-wing leeches out of our councils completely. These dickheads are elected by non-ratepayers . . . they are unwanted by those that do the paying.

Ah, STV, a sure way of getting at least the second best candidate! An electoral system espoused as the solution by people who constantly LOSE!

    As a Wellingtonian, let’s arrange a swap.

ABC for me. Morrison gets my vote, and since (with STV) you can vote for as many or as few as you want, he will be the *only* mayoral candidate that I vote for.

Bizarrely poll results for the Wellington mayoralty have been published. Of course at this stage the current mayor and a well known councilor will be prominent.

Bizarre because the poll was done before all candidates were known – so the poll did not include all candidates.

I saw Celia Weighed-Down talking about the quakes on TVONE the other night. She is currently talking the way B. Parker used to talk here in Chch after a big quake………

If I was from Wellington that would be enough for me as a voter!

Or you could treat your wife like a thinking individual capable of making her own independent decisions without your ‘guidance’.
