WCC spends $40,000 to raise $452!

August 15th, 2013 at 2:00 pm by David Farrar

WCC Watch reports:

Thanks to an official information request by rumoured-almost-Lambton-Ward-candidate Jackson Wood we now know that  invested wasted almost $40,000 in to its “Alternative Giving Fund” campaign that raised $452 in its first two weeks. …

Beyond appalling. What a waste of ratepayers money.

Not uncommon. They wasted at least that much paying an independent consultant to basically tell them that NZTA had it right on the Basin overpass. And now they still want to spend more to try to find someone with appropriate credentials who will tell them what they want to hear.

Thelia will be outwaged – but don’t worry, she’ll get to the bottom of it.

Celia Wade-Brown, incompetent Luddite Mayor, do the city a favour and get the hell out of here. Just fuck off.

It was only ever a feel-good politcally correct stunt to appease the “poverty” merchants. I wonder who the losers were that parted with $452?

Good old rate payers, no wonder rates continue their upward march. Remember local body elections later this year (get rid of the old halfwits and elect some new ones).

Losses like this should be deducted from any performance bonuses of the most senior people (mayor downwards, apportioned according to the size of the salary), and if they dont get those, out of any future salary increases !

@2boyz the alternate choices are pretty slim pickings.

Affordable City for Auckland but I think they have no show of actually getting in.

What gets me is that they (the Council) say that begging is legal so can’t do anything about it – except to come up with that silly alternative giving idea.

However, harassing people for money is illegal and it is fraud to pretend you need money for a trip when in fact your aren’t going on one – like that PI lady who wheels her bag around town and sets up at various points to request money for her supposed trip. She never goes anywhere of course because you see her day after day.

With STV voting it is important not to rank Celia Wade Brown if you want a sensible mayor. Give your preferences to all the others.

Classic Green logic and governance in action – it’s the thought that counts. What a fucking joke. These people have no business near anything adult.

Until we have principal ratepayers only, voting in local body elections, we will have fiscally illiterate left-wing losers elected by the great uneducated masses, that live in envy of everyone and everything that is built on success and hard work. Take a look at the idiots that call themselves elected officers, especially mayors in both Auckland and Wellington. See where the majority of their votes came from . . . you’ve got it, State housing areas.
