Fairfax are still leading media bias when it comes to news items, but now Newstalk ZB are saturating our airwaves with Labour propaganda, look at the news items and presentation this morning . . . it stinks.
Why do they insist on ruining the ITM with this truncated schedule. It’s clear the people who organise it haven’t ever had to take a hit or make one in today’s game, nor have they ever had to play the game at it’s current pace. Is it meant to be rugby or attrition? They blather on about player safety/health but it’s OK to backing up after 3/4 days? Good luck with that shield challenge Counties – you’re gunna need it.
Whilst I agree with much of what you have to say, I disagree with the last comment. It is not just Labour feminists who have fought for woman’s rights – also, part of fighting for women’s rights was to allow them equal access to tertiary education.
Yes, men are better at servicing loans, they usually do not have to interrupt their careers to have children. That is a fact of life, one could argue that by treating women equally they are ensuring our inequality.
If you consider the Fairfax to be bad the Herald has recently been toxic.
Yesterday’s leader was against spending $7.9 million in the Pike River Mine, but a few weeks ago they were screaming for it to be done. Queer !
The letters on the same day were so anti Government, on many subjects, it must have been a bad hair day for the letter’s editor.
Perhaps she or he got out of the wrong bed.
And why are many of the Herald’s letters from the same people.
Must be friends of the editor.
It looks Len Brown is planning to reduce his grand plans for Auckland. At a meeting last night he agreed with John Minto that rates should be based on income , not property value. So if this came into effect the the rates take would fall through the floor. If he had a very much higher rate on the high income earners to compensate then Auckland’s housing crisis would be solved quickly as they all left Auckland in a hurray. sarc/
Harriet, as a taxpayer I’m not going to accept your blame – or society’s collective guilt – for women (or anyone else) borrowing excessive levels of interest-free money to pursue often-fatuous qualifications in media studies, entertainment, art & design, sport & recreation, public policy, hospitality, creative technologies, and the like.
We have allowed social engineers to dumb down the country’s education structure, and many of its normal channels into academic and professional study, nursing, teaching, trade training, farming (by way of examples) and multiple facets of unskilled employment. All the while, a wide range of private “tertiary education” providers have become established to soak up the cash paid by the Tertiary Education Commission and (through student loans) aspiring students. We have been subjected to the notion that anyone can be trained for anything; all it needs is enough money to be thrown at it.

Regretfully, Sir Russell has not learned one damn thing from this whole cheating episode and despite the fact that he was found not to be personally involved, his complete lack of any repentance or regret tarnishes reputation for a long time to come.
@Nookin (8.59am): Agree. A ‘none-too-subtle’ comment was made by the Jury in their released decision…
“It also seems inconceivable that boat riggers initiated these changes without the knowledge of managers, or the direction of sailors, if not skippers.”
Indeed. It would be as absurd as thinking that a Red Bull Racing F1 mechanic could fit dodgy bits to Seb Vettel’s car without Christian Horner or Adrian Newey knowing about it. As the Jury noted, it is inconceivable…. and methinks the red on the faces of Coutts et al is only due to the fact they were caught.
Indeed, I would not be at all surprised if fresh revelations surface….
thedavincimode : “Why do they insist on ruining the ITM with this truncated schedule.”
Start at the top and schedule the top priority stuff i.e. All Blacks. Put in the (keeps getting bigger) Super Rugby.
Ummm, now lets see if we can fit in local provincial stuff… Club competitions, what about those?
It’s called ‘commercial imperatives meeting tradition’. In this case, head on.
Mate… even if you stopped eating flat and had only water… you wouldn’t lose that much. You’d lose all your food and water weight….sure… and then kilo after kilo in stored fat and tissue day after day? I don’t think so. What kind of moron would be taken in by lies on a scale reserved for real estate agents and Nigerian internet scammers? Sad. Tragic.
I know there’s just so much total horsecrap on this planet… it’s endless and relentless. What a downer. Aren’t you glad you’re not a total moron?
L,R & C- I’m more interested in how/why Brendon the ‘Fitness Expert’ packed on an alleged 25 Kilos for this ad! The ‘before and after’ shots don’t appear to be 25 kg difference! More some guy slouching and sticking his belly out…
We wonder why NZ doesn’t progress much at times ? Where are all those who say we have to diversify away from dairy into other areas –why aren’t they in support of these people ( too late now, I realise) ? Hamilton City Council needs a clean out , I think.
State Sen. Bob Rucho, a Mecklenburg County Republican and chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said Wednesday that he hoped to use the 2015 legislative session to eliminate the state income tax, replacing it with a consumption-based sales tax to make up for the lost revenue.
“That’s a direction we’d like to go,” Rucho said in an interview as the state Senate adjourned for the year. Rucho said it was impractical to push for such a steep cut during a short session the legislature holds in even-numbered years, but that cutting the income tax was a top priority of his when the legislature reconvenes for its biennial full session.
North Carolina’s income tax accounts for about 61 percent of state revenue, Rucho said. But the revenue stream has been choppy in recent years, given the impact of the recession. The uneven results on a year-over-year basis can play havoc with annual budget planning in a state that requires a balanced budget, and it’s something Rucho said he wanted to avoid.
“We want to get away from that and go to a more flat consumption-based tax on sales taxes, both goods and services, and in return, we’ll say, ‘We’ll go to zero with the income tax.’ And that’s something we think we can achieve. It just takes time to get there,” he said.
This year, the Republican-dominated legislature instituted deep cuts in both the personal and corporate income taxes. Personal income tax rates will fall by two percentage points, from 7.75 percent to about 5.8 percent, while the corporate rate will fall from 6.7 percent to as low as 3 percent over the next several years, depending on how much revenue the state generates.
A Portland bar owner will have to pay a $400,000 fine for kicking out a group of cross-dressers whom he says were ruining his business. Chris Penner, the owner of the Twilight Room Annex, has to pay 11 transgender patrons the hefty sum after asking them to stop coming to his bar. Penner said female patrons complained that the transgender men went to the restroom with the stall doors open, then left the toilet seats up when they were finished.
Leftist groups claim the free government cell phones (Obama Phones) are crucial to the livelihood of many poor communities. The cost of the scheme to American taxpayers went from $819 million in 2008 to $2.2 billion in 2012.
The Marine Corps is bracing to lose another 8,000 active-duty Marines on top of what already had been planned as it faces deep, federally mandated budget cuts, the service’s commandant said Wednesday.

good. The Military Industrial Complex is a huge burden on the US. They should bring all the troops home from Berlin for a start. What are they doing there besides wasting millions of federal taxes ?
Regarding the North Carolina proposal. Does that mean they’ll still have to pay a federal income tax or can the state just tax through a GST and pass some of the revenue onto the Federal government? I’m not that familiar with the U.S. tax system.
Personally, I would be happy with an invasion by the Americans any day. As long as you don’t blow them up, they can be really nice guys. In comparison, the Nazis and the Soviets rounded up anyone who was a potential threat and killed them, and then rounded up a whole lot of other people and forced to work as slave labour. As for the Romans, they were very reasonable, but I’d still prefer the Americans.
4. What other weapons do the terrorists have at their disposal to fight the best equipped army in the world ?
Surrender. The white flag. Their lives and the lives of their families would be so much better if they just let the Americans into their countries without resistance. In other wars at other times, it was far worse to let the invaders in, but not so with the Americans.

Well, of course one might say that: “that was then”, but then I don’t plan on inviting the lunatic Barak Obama around to my place any time soon. Any system that can throw up presidents like Obama, or vice presidential candidates like Palin, is best confined to its own borders. Sadly for Australia, they seem hell bent on following the yanks down the lunatic path.
Red baiter loved you link .@11:25 am
Such a fascinating look into the world of wingnuttery.
(ALTHeadlines) Was our human race genetically engineered thousands of years ago by the Anunnaki? Were we created by beings from Nibiru to work as laborers? Are we simply the result of a genetic experiments conducted by a superior race of beings that visited our planets in our Earth’s Ancient times?

Kissinger’s 1974 Plan for
Food Control Genocide
by Joseph Brewda
On Dec. 10, 1974, the U.S. National Security Council under Henry Kissinger completed a classified 200-page study, “National Security Study Memorandum 200: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests.” The study falsely claimed that population growth in the so-called Lesser Developed Countries (LDCs) was a grave threat to U.S. national security. Adopted as official policy in November 1975 by President Gerald Ford, NSSM 200 outlined a covert plan to reduce population growth in those countries through birth control, and also, implicitly, war and famine. Brent Scowcroft, who had by then replaced Kissinger as national security adviser (the same post Scowcroft was to hold in the Bush administration), was put in charge of implementing the plan. CIA Director George Bush was ordered to assist Scowcroft, as were the secretaries of state, treasury, defense, and agriculture.
“……Adopted as official policy in November 1975 by President Gerald Ford, NSSM 200 outlined a covert plan to reduce population growth in those countries through birth control, and also, implicitly, war and famine…..”
So a capitalist country thinks it’s best to kill off all it’s future customers then?
If what this video shows is correct, the long term affect on drinking water has been minimised by the authorities.
Largely because they pump the fracking liquids back into the ground after they’ve extract the gas….and, those liquids are extremely toxic so it makes sense they will eventually make their way into groundwater.
Analysis of the narcissist Obama by Dr Michael J. Hurd, Ph.D.
“When I’m doing it, it’s right. When someone else does the same thing, it’s wrong.” Why? There can be only one answer. “Because I’m great.” Underlying premise, never acknowledged or stated: “I am greater than my character or abilities prove me to be; I’m great because I’m me. I don’t need rational proof. I’m all the proof I need.”
The Government is hailing new legislation it says will enable “tens of thousands” of families into home ownership and take pressure off the Auckland housing market by addressing the “constipated” planning system.
The Housing Accords and Special Housing Areas Bill passed its third reading in Parliament today, 63 votes to 56, and will come into effect on September 16.
The bill is designed to allow the Government to force land to be freed up if it needs to.
The new legislation is central to Housing Minister Nick Smith’s attempts take the heat out of the housing market and address affordability. In defined areas the consenting process will be streamlined and would not be subject to district planning restrictions.
“This new law will deliver tens of thousands of new homes,” Smith said in a statement.
yeh yeh yeh.
Who needs these new homes. Oh that’s right all the first home buyers with no savings and lots of student debt.
and actually it won’t affect the price of new homes., they will stay the same, it may bring down some section prices and may encourage a few more sections but developers are as stupid as Smith. They know what return they need.
cuase wise old owl, they are too fucking dumb to understand.
But immigration will change this year for a year or two. Kiwi’s will be returning from their now non existent jobs. 170.000 jobs gone in australia LAST MONTH alone.
So those with houses will boot out the renters who can’t buy a house so rents will rise on demand and accomodation will get tougher. No demand lately but is changing.
As rents go up us cunning property investors will buy more and force the prices up further.
Darn Smith just can’t help himself. Us rich pricks are gunna get richer again.
About bloody time and all, the local govt. and insurance co’s have stolen any profit thier might have been and the banks want another go.
P.S. this has been going on for 150 years since the TOW or earlier and ain’t about to change.
(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, psychoactive substance means a substance, mixture, preparation, article, device, or thing that is capable of inducing a psychoactive effect (by any means) in an individual who uses the psychoactive substance.
On the face of it, that includes both NO-DOZ and Pepe and their active ingredient caffeine.
“Syria has been convulsed by civil war since climate change came to Syria with a vengeance,” Polk writes. “Drought devastated the country from 2006 to 2011. Rainfall in most of the country fell below eight inches (20 cm) a year, the absolute minimum needed to sustain un-irrigated farming. Desperate for water, farmers began to tap aquifers with tens of thousands of new well. But, as they did, the water table quickly dropped to a level below which their pumps could lift it.”
According to a 2012 report from the Center of Climate and Security, “From 2006-2011, up to 60% of Syria’s land experienced, in the terms of one expert, ‘the worst long-term drought and most severe set of crop failures since agricultural civilizations began in the Fertile Crescent many millennia ago.’”
Wow Griff, drought in the Middle East ! That is pretty compelling evidence. Arid sandy areas are famously wet and rainy. Something must be up.
Maybe they should stop worrying about the pending attack from Obama in support of the radical intolerant Muslims who are trying to overthrow the country and focus on the real dangers of it not raining enough in “most of the country”
Next thing you know there will be ice in Antarctic.
A military strike on Syria could lead to a nuclear catastrophe if a missile were to hit a reactor containing radioactive uranium, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman warned. The remark comes as the US continues to push for a military strike on Syria.
“If a warhead, by design or by chance, were to hit the Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNSR) near Damascus, the consequences could be catastrophic,” Aleksandr Lukashevich said in a Wednesday statement.
Not that anyone in these parts would give a shit… But Gosh… just imagine if a nice big radioactive cloud parked up over the precious Jews next door. Then we might see a few people reconsidering their absurd pro-war positions here on KB. Or just imagine if some of Syria’s many Christians got crook ! Still it would save them being beheaded by Obama’s mates further down the track, as has happened with the fanatics he supported in other places in their lust for power.
Oil kea its about stability of supply.
That is why the yanks have played bomb the towel heads over the last couple of decades….
At this point in time it suits the usa to be against the regime . They know getting involved will only arm and train more insurgents.
The USA is overstretching its military budget In its occupation of both Afghanistan and Iraq.
Its like the fifty’s and sixty’s except its now another type of nutter not commies, fundamental Muslims.
Still back in the day.
Carpet bombing in Cambodia, collateral damage of the USA’s campaign in Vietnam.
Griff, yeah I largely agree. It may surprise you to learn I hope we get over our dependence on oil asap. Then the followers of Allah may have to grow up and face a few realities about themselves. As well as the environmental benefits, assuming the alternatives are not worse, and we can not be sure of that either.
The reason I am against the whole AGW lark is I believe it is unsound and if discredited public support for alternative energy and other environmental concerns may fall away. Now days every environmental initiative is couched in terms of climate change. I am concerned about the risk of putting so much stock in this one theory.
Lucy, please tell me this is a wind up. Are you seriously advancing the notion that the Muslims should just give up because the Christian invaders are good people ? Are you aware they would claim the exact same thing. As Marilyn Manson said in his song Disposable Teens “I never really headed one true god, but the god of the people I hated!”. It pretty much sums up your position.
No, not a wind up. However, you have oversimplified what I said. When met with overwhelming force, it is better to surrender and get on with life than to uselessly throw lives away against an enemy who could easily be your friend if you just stopped blowing them up. People who think they have to be terrorists and kill themselves in suicide attacks are deluded if they think that improves anything. It makes the whole situation worse and they are dead. Some martyrs.
Lucy, so would that be your position if we were invaded by a overwhelming force of Muslims ? Remember they are only trying to install morality and save your soul, in their view. How about if the Muslims took over Israel with overwhelming force ?
You reckon Muslims are deluded for thinking that blowing stuff up improves anything. I agree. But explain why you think the US has improved anything by blowing stuff up in Afghanistan ? When it comes to blowing stuff up, I am pretty sure the US is way way ahead of the Muslims.
You apply constant double standards. It is not a lack of intelligence or consideration, it is because your world view is seen through the lens of religious bias. You attempt to apply scripture where it does not fit, in a way that invariably sides with Jews and Christians regardless of the actual facts before you. In short, it is people like you, on both sides, that cause these conflicts. I think you are decent person who means well, but you need to take a step back and look at these things with a clear head. I do not reckon JC would approve of your approach to resolving conflict back in his homeland. You are talking about his ancestors here, though I know you will struggle with that fact.
