Friday Photo: 11 October

October 11th, 2013 at 9:26 am by Chthoniid

Dismal day in Auckland. Coffee machine in office broken. I think it’s time for some pics instead.

As I think we’re a little short of scenic pics this week, here’s one of a local first, and then we’ll double up with our very unique .

That fat wood pigeon looks tasty.

    You didn’t…you weren’t tempted… were you, Chthoniid?

A Kereru almost redbaitered on me once. Got the top of my pack. It had big undigested bits of berries in it… :x

There is no mistaking the sound of a wood pigeon in the bush – the ‘whooping’ noise they make on the wing is not only distinctive, but also quite loud. No wonder they have a diet based on berries / fruit because they wouldn’t survive as a predator!

They sure are impressive birds – but I must admit, I’ve not put one to the taste test. :D

How did a plump ripe pigeon like that manage to escape “cultural harvest”?? With “Matariki” over for this year I hope it makes it through the next recently made up Maori festival…

How come hardly anybody talks about the quality of the claimed “art work”.

These Friday photo threads are full of morons who say things like, “Oh, yeah, I remember my great aunt Bertha had a statue of one of those. It was made from porcelain and came from Central Spain. My Uncle Clarrie broke it one day when he came home drunk. They were divorced after that. Aunt Berth moved to Etakahuna. Uncle Clarrie went back to Panama.”

Maybe they don’t talk about the quality of the pics as they don’t want to offend the self professed photographer.

Red, no-one’s stopping you from giving a critique.

To me they are just interesting images that often brighten a Friday morning.

Better than a critique, why not put up some of your own photos, Red? DPF would probably agree. I suspect they would be good.

    It would seem you do.

Nothing on KB appears to be to your liking, and yet you can’t stay away or stop commenting. Slow life in your neck of the woods perhaps?

We certainly do have good photgraphers in the Country, Chthoniid one .
What do you say to the idea Chthoniid thet the human eye finds a landscape / panorama format more satisfying
and more natural visually in general.
