Ok…so you and I are sitting around the selection table picking this team (whilst ordering Penny and Judith to “shut the fuck up and get the beers”)

If I agree to go with Collinge then the question I have to ask you is why do we need JR Reid and C Cairns in that side. One (or both) of them are going to do fuck all bowling so we need to select one or two more batsmen.

Also, I am not sure that we do need a left hander. Lillee and Thomo, the Great Windies quicks…none of them were lefties.

Fast bowler maybe? I hear he was pretty quick (lightening on his paper run) and a bloody angry young man..
I’m sure with his pace, aggression and height he could rip through the top five pretty quickly!

The thing is Nostradamus – Muggins and others who believe in Bain’s guilt, seem to be able to make whatever comments they like, and no one complains when they raise the issue, but as soon as someone who thinks the opposite makes a comment, people like you come along and whinge like little school-girls. I regard that as bullying. Simply trying to shut up any opposition. That is not how discussion works, and there is no way I’ll let any of their jumped up bullying tactics intimidate me.

Where does Martin Donnelly fit into the XI? Test average of nearly 50 before war cut his career short?

I see the cricket has taken precedence over David Bain and fair enough.
I will just mention one piece of evidence, those bloody sockprints that Bain’s supporters, and even Binnie , say point to Robin as having made them.
Now the best print was 280mm long.
D/S Weir said he could not see any definition of the toes when he looked at that luminol print.
ESR scientist Peter Hentschel said that print was not a complete heel and toe print.
Robin Bain’s foot measured 270mm.
David Bain’s foot measured 300mm.
So we have an incomplete print measuring 280mm.
Who is more likely to have made that print?

I can see that this will be a long selection meeting. You better tell Judith and Penny that we want something to eat as well.

I still struggle with the concept that a team that includes Bond, Hadlee and C Cairns at their best is going to need much more than 75-80 overs to bowl a team out. I am not sure we need that many options. If you had said to me that you wanted to find a place for somebody like Bartlett (from what the old timers tell me he was indeed shit quick) or a ultra competitor like Dion Nash then I might have been persuaded.

I still think that three quicks is plenty, I would go for the extra batsmen.

Interestingly enough, had the tattooed one stayed keeping wickets then he might have displaced Ian Smith from my team.

It may be that Penny Bright’s grasp of the truth is much like that actually of her protagonist, John Banks, who sees technicality sufficing for what others interpret as honesty.
A little like Key, referring to Banks earlier, in terms of “there is no conviction, so nothing is wrong and no need for me to read the Police Report on the matter” – technical bullshit that may still bite him in the bum a little.

I would not worry about Penny’s rates until she provides a written demand addressed to her from the Auckland City Council to authenticate her claims.

Have you read the trial transcript?
If you had you would know that MIlton Weir testified that he couldn’t see the outline of the toes when he looked at that sockprint. So here we have a sockprint measuring 280mm without the toes visible.
Robin Bain’s foot was 270mm long. David Bain’s was 300mm long.
Whose foot would that print more likely to be? David Bain’s of course.
Have you read the retrial transcript?
If you had that a week before he was murdered Robin Bain had asked a friend in the choir who also had a son in the choir if they could get together and form a quartet. He said he would look up some music that they could play.
What about Ingred Duckley? Robin Bain phoned her on the Friday prior and made an appointment to see her on the Monday morning so as to get some more funding. She said they had a pleasant chat, a few laughs.
Have you read the cross-examination of Cyril Wilden?

Donnelly and Dempter simply did not play enough games. For a batsmen to have a “true” test average the general consensus is that they had to have had 20 innings. Both Dempster and Donnelly are well short of that. As an example if M Hussey had retired early he would have had a test average of nearly 80, would that have made him the second best batsmen of all time?

Sorry about that double up re those bloody sockprints, but at least it should now be clear to Rowan, Judith and even Joe Karam as to who it was that made them.
And it should also be clear to them that Robin Bain was never diagnosed as being depressed, however much they would want you to believe that he was.

Penny Bright has repeatedly claimed – on Kiwiblog and elsewhere – that she refuses to pay her rates. Are you saying that her claim is, to put it in neutral terms, incorrect?

I’m not sure I agree with this.

In the modern form of the game cricketers have a busy match schedule, and in each match the pace bowlers have a heavy workload.

Just to take one example, Australia play England in Perth on Friday. Last year Peter Siddle was a non-starter, because he over-bowled in Adelaide. Because injuries are a particular issue for pace bowlers, I think there should be at least four in the team so they can share the load over five days (unless the pitch is clearly suited to spin-bowling).

The rule of thumb, as I understand it, is that a workload of 50 overs or more in a test match puts a pace bowler in the red zone (at risk of injury).

One of them employed Waterwoman until she was made redundant & moved to join her fellow nutters in Auckland. 🙂

That’s the one JB. It operated under a succession of names, the last of which from memory was Master Industries. Waterwoman was a welder there….even made of few column centimetres in the local rag about her welding skill.

To be fair…..from what I DO remember of the crap quality of the rubbish they produced the welds were about the only things that did last. 🙂

I see our number one bullshit artist is going on about people being sued by Joe Karam.
What he doesn’t seem to understand is that Karam sued them because of what was written about him, not the Bain murders.
Only David Bain can sue about what has been written about him.
Also, Mr Bullshit Artist was bloody lucky he wasn’t had up for contempt of court, taking notes when the judge had expressly forbidden note-taking.
As for Binnie’s report, well he can forget about that. Binnie was obviously not up to the task, just a pity it cost us $450000 to find that out.

Greg Larsen was the greatest 50 over bowler. He was the mother in law bowler as he did not do you any damage, but he bored the shit out of batsmen and they were forced to play unwise shots then got out.

Muggins you are actually quite funny sometimes but anyone with any understanding of the case and basic common-sense can easily pick out your lies. In-fact probably a school pupil probably could, as they are just that blindingly obvious.

Its very funny to see you refer to people as ‘not up to the task’ or ‘out of their depth’ or ‘anyone with any degree of common-sense’.
No doubt you see it as your duty to preach this to the country to convert them to change their beliefs. Similarly Hitler, Stalin and Mao probably thought they were all doing their duty as well.

Usually our TAB is timid but they have N.Z. at $1.55 which is exactly what Betfair have them at.
That could be a good bet for the locals.
Our TAB seems to have less faith in our cricket team than do the informed punters of England. That is, taking into account that Betfair bet to just 101% whereas the TAB set their book at nearly 111%.

Nice for the car saleswoman to once again reveal she has no idea what she is talking about, The comments Karam successfully sued for went right to the heart of the Bain case, Karam’s integrity in his commitment to proving David’s innocence. When I say successfully sued, the hearing didn’t go ahead with either The Herald, Trade Me or Fairfax because those parties settled with Karam and made public apologies for the ravings of some nutters, one in particular who ‘brought a 2nd hand computer’ and costs hundreds of 1000s of dollars because of her idiocy and incessant lies. The same person rejected by the High Court as a ‘expert’ witness, rejected by Judith Collins as a ‘peer’ of an international Jurist. The only hearing which proceeded resulted in one of the respondents fleeing, and the other admitted that his defence of ‘truth’ was false, as was his defence of ‘honest opinion’ he did however admit lying. So false, dishonest and a liar – just like his rejected ‘expert.’
