Brown may seek a third term!

January 22nd, 2014 at 1:00 pm by David Farrar

The Herald reports:

has hinted at seeking a third Super City mayoral term in 2016, saying the factors that will guide him are the support of his wife, Shan Inglis, and maintaining his love and passion for the city. …

Asked whether he would seek a third term in 2016, Mr Brown said “There are two things that would determine my view in terms of the role that I have here. The first is that my family support me and the second is that so long as I maintain my love and my passion for our city and our people – and I do, I love this place and I love our people in the very best and the worst of times – then I would do the job.”

I hope he does stand again. That would guarantee a centre-right Mayor.

Maybe he thinks that this outrageous statement will make his previous outrageous behaviour less outrageous, and therefore forgivable.

It’s quite simple. If Len Brown really believes that people don’t give as hoot about the Bevan Chuang affair and other issues, let him resign, and seek a fresh mandate.

He won’t do that of course, because deep down he knows that the people of Auckland DO give a hoot.

    Extract from Affidavit:

    (14) Shortly after my 30th birthday Mr Brown and I had sexual intercourse….this took place in his office on the couch. The sex only lasted a matter of minutes….Mr Brown did not wear a condom and ejaculated on me before commenting that he “usually lasts longer than this”

Could introduce dishonorary political pensions, people could petition to remove a mayor, MP, etc. on the basis of being unwanted, useless, etc., but the caveat being they get a life pension. That way wankers like Brown wouldn’t have the motivation to stick around, as they would end up being paid to f*ck off (rather than being paid to f*ck around).

What makes you think the Herald is running a campaign for Len Brown? Are you stupid?

The Herald recently ran an editorial headlined “Brown must go for the good of the Super City” that challenged Len Brown to resign.

Let me first say that I have never voted for Len. I would not be surprised however if he got back in if he stood for a third term.
I say this for several reasons.
Firstly Auckland has never enjoyed a surplus of mayoral talent – look at the calibre of Fletcher, Hubbard, Banks etc – and I do not see any obvious high-profile people coming through – Cameron Brewer? Michael Barnett?
Secondly the funding required to mount a credible campaign – which could by 2016 be in excess of $1 million – particularly for any candidates who do not have the backing of the Labour party apparatus like Len does.
And finally, although many will disagree, Len may actually have some achievements by 2016 – such as improvements to public transport.
I appreciate that many people will disagree with my thoughts – and dislike Len passionately – which I can understand – but just saying….

I think it’s more likely that he misheard “3rd term” and thought the question was “will you seek a third intern?”. Thinking on his feet and deciding that everyone must already know about the other interns he quickly agreed. After all, how much worse could his life get?

I suspect this time around Cameron Brewer might put his hand up and run for mayor. As someone above noted, we haven’t tended to have very good candidates as mayor. We’ve tended to vote mayors out, rather than them in.

2016 is a long way off, I wouldn’t be counting chickens this soon. People tend to have poor memories and in time find excuses for bad behaviour. Most politicians work on this, which is why they don’t make a real effort until election year – that is this year.

Shadbolt, Williams, and Brown. What is wrong with Aucklanders that they keep electing Muppets? It is times like this that I’m glad I live in Wellington. At least Wade-Brown’s eccentricity is limited to bicycling. Rather than being a public drunkard, clownshoes, or a creeper and the most corrupt mayor in the country.

I thought Hubbard did a pretty good job for an independent.

The problem was he got straddled with a crap coalition of left-leaning councilors i.e. City Vision and all the rest. I thought it was a shame that he didn’t get re-elected as his policies were more naturally aligned with C&R.

Troubled Auckland Mayor Len Brown has said he will be along at the February 9 event to celebrate sexual health.

He’d know about that, would he?

    From the original story:

Among the allegations – which are backed up by text messages – are that “barely two-minute Brown” had unprotected sex with the 32-year-old on more than a dozen occasions during office hours.

“He wasn’t wearing a condom. He pulled out in time and ejaculated on me. Initially I didn’t want to go there with him but he was pretty persistent.”

But, she says, they only had sex on one more occasion. That was in July, the woman says, where again Brown climaxed on her.

“He then asked if next time I could bring condoms,” she said.

    No safe sex there?

Maybe this is designed to dilute the anger of people who think Len is clinging on to the job for the money and has absolutely no morales or dignity.

But I don’t think people are clever enough to connect the dots, if that is what Len is trying to acheive.
