    Good stuff DPF!

A surprising number of visitors from the US, UK and Canada there.
I can only guess that that may be because there may not be many good centre-right-leaning blogs in those countries? I may be wrong but that’s my guess. I think Whaleoil gets a fair few visitors from those countries too.
Good strong figures from Aussie too. Possibly quite a few expat Kiwis visiting the blog? Again, that’s just a guess.

Oh my word!! That’s absolutely staggering!! I would never have believed that there are so many people with so little to do that they notch up stats like that on a transient, insubstantial, frivolous and worthless waste of time as texting/emailing/commenting/posting!

(OK! OK! I know I’m one of them, but my excuse is that at least i’m retired and am not wasting what might otherwise be profitable and productive time on this nonsense!)

Why, there are even people posting here and elsewhere who claim thousands and thousands of posts!! What their real off-line lives are like i dread to think! Empty? Meaningless? (Gotta get my daily fix of mainly rubbish on-line, eh?)

I sometimes imagine interviewing one of these emailing cyber-space giants for a job. “Hmm, 20,000 plus posts eh? Well if that’s the way you spend your time, don’t bang the door on the way out!!

(Now I’ll stand by for multi-minus ticks!!)

By a long shot KB is the best New Zealand blog.
Good on you and thank you, DPF, for offering such a wonderful communication vehicle.

Well done David, I will admit most of 2012 I was visiting WO more and this blog was 2nd choice, but roles are now reversed as I feel once WO gets a bee in his bonnet he hammers the subject day after day (Len Brown being one and his anti-farmer pieces are getting repetitive and rather boring), This blog targets politics almost exclusively (well apart from your travel exploits)….overall even the posting of readers are more balanced and less vitriolic here than WO, though I do enjoy reading the posts that are against the left and watching the acolytes try to defend the indefensible.

2014 is election year and I hope BOTH blogs say what Key should be saying and , hopefully, espousing as much and as often as possible ‘VOTE FOR LABOUR, GET THE GREENS/MANA’

Keep up the good work David.

@ Akaroa, guess you are with that ‘non political’ movement Grey Power, and Winnie fan as voting for him it’s ‘I’m old, gimme..gimme..gimme’

Have you had time, since you are retired, to see who posts when, what %age is during working hours and after 5pm, before 9am and weekends or is everyone tarred with your ‘lazy bastards’ brush now that post more than a certain number of posts?, the difference Akaroa is your post was posted, please try and post the same as you have on The Standard or Red Alert and see if they actually post it!

Not cruel Johnboy, Akaroa made an assumption (and I will admit for some posters he may be 100% correct!) I was wondering what he based his generalisation on, Kiwiblog has been in existence since 2003, so someone keeping the same ‘name’ and posting the posts will grow year after year….be interested to see what/if Akaroa has posted on The Standard/Red Alert, or he just posts on blogs of the right and generalises on all posters.

KiwiBlog is by far the best blog. It’s as good as it gets with online debating. There are only a tiny point of a percentage of nasty comments and they usually come from the left.

Interesting that Safari is number 2 in browsers, probably because nearly 100% of mobile devices that were recorded use it. Also interesting on just how dominant the iPhone/iPad environment is, with the top non-IOS device a Galaxy SII !

Kapiti Coast (102) at 1.47 today posted, in response to mine of 12-59, inter alia:

“@ Akaroa, guess you are with that ‘non political’ movement Grey Power, and Winnie fan as voting for him it’s ‘I’m old, gimme..gimme..gimme………….”

Oh brother! How wrong can you be!!

Me? Grey Power? Those mumbling, meandering pseudo-socialists clinging to inaccurate candy-coloured memories of yesteryear? No way! I was a Muldoon man way back – (much to the disgust of some fellow Vic Uni-ites back in the 70/80s btw) – if you’re old enough to remember him, and I certainly do not subscribe or even read “The Standard’. That said I suspect from what i have read about that mirror of milk and water pseudo-socialism that I wouldn’t be welcomed there for long!!

And as for ‘Winnie’, any admiration I have for him is solely for his wide-boy, con-man persona. Gotta hand it to him for THAT!. How long are people going to carry on taking him seriously, I wonder? What is it they say about ‘fooling some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time?’ That’s ol’ Winnie!! Wonder if he still gets in the Green Parrot in Wellingon?

No mate, some of the intellectual giants who flood this medium – and I don’t just mean Kiwiblog – with the benefit of their reflections on current topics of note need to realise that there are also a lot of people out here who share my largely contrary and sometimes fiercely critical views, but who can’t be fussed to bother with posting.

(BTW! My! You’ve got some neck thinking I’m a Grey-Power groupie!! Honestly!! Old guys don’t automatically slot into convenient categories y’know!!)

I visit here every day, but WO is like every few weeks.

This is by far the best blog.

I don’t know how you do it, David, as I find myself completely bored by blogging for long periods at a time, so can’t get my head around people who manage to post every single day for years. The stamina involved to do that is just incredible.

I like KB – DPF’s fiscal conservatism and social liberalism is appealing, WO is all to vitriolic and nasty and stopped going there a long time ago.

Disagree with Joanne – I find the nasty personal commentators are not generally from the left.

Anyway thanks DPF- I finally find something to agree with Maonolo on – this is the best site of its kind.
