Scary

January 16th, 2014 at 12:00 pm by David Farrar

I was in a couple of years ago, and spent nine days in parks like Kruger. While you are with guides, and in jeeps, the above video is a good reminder that these are wild animals.

Quite amazing they lived. They should have reversed out of there the moment the elephant started flapping its ears.

One news report said the elephant had been euthanised. That’s almost as silly as the Aussie’s wanting to cull sharks because someone has been attacked. Or, again the Australians, the public this time, wanted to kill stingrays because Steve Irwin died as a result of a barb from one.

I’m not going to make any Krim Dotcom jokes.

    I couldnt agree more Joanne.
I wish the elephant had killed all those people so there were no witnesses

    Total morons.

They approach a wild animal (from behind!) ….and then don’t realise they need to get the hell out of there when it clearly becomes agitated. Totally predictable reaction from the animal. But (if media reports are correct), a terrible outcome.

If anyone was to be euthanised, it should have been the idiots inside the vehicle.

People are so friggin detached from reality, those turkeys had more than enough time to just drive past, but you just know there was someone(s) sitting in there going “awwww look at the cute elephant” due to a distorted, idealized view of the species as gentle giants that just want family and friends and a play station 4 like the rest of us.

    And now it’s dead.

Stupid people just sitting there, probably flashing their lights and tooting. They were probably trying to get Youtube video.

    Modern people can be idiotic.

How can they possibly justify euthanising the elephant? I mean, it’s not like the elephant was hiding in the bushes waiting to leap out at some unsuspecting passerby. It’s just a revenge killing.

Thank goodness there are these game parks to keep the Elephants safe from poachers.
So they can be killed by fuckwits instead.

Humans in animals territory, expect violent reactions. The person in the car in the video should have reversed fast and done a handbrake turn. Crocodiles mindsets for example are that humans are lunch and idiots get vindictive about it.

Does anyone remember the series of stills where the elephant sat on the car? The car had tried to overtake on a narrow track. Could have been KB a few years ago?
