Labour on NZers fighting in Syria

February 11th, 2014 at 3:00 pm by David Farrar

can’t even agree on whether it is fine for Kiwis to go to to fight in a civil war.

Labour Leader David Cunliffe does the Nah and says the Government should be doing more to stop them:

Mr Cunliffe shares the Prime Minister’s views, and is calling for tougher laws like in Australia, where citizens who enter a foreign country to engage in hostile activity can be jailed for up to 20 years.

And for the Yeah we go to Labour Defence Spokesperson Phil Goff:

Stopping people’s rights to go abroad to fight for a cause that they believe in, and some of them are liberal democrats – people that we would associate with that are doing that, I think is wrong,

Once again Labour trying to appeal to those on every side of the issue.

    Labour is a train wreck.

Cunliffe talks wally words. I would have thought cancelling someone’s passport to be a tough messure.

Cunliffe and Goff. It shoes the caucus is not over having Cunliffe as leader and are at risk of self imploding. Shame. Not.

    Personally I’m with Phil.

It is typical of the left that they must tell everyone what to do at all times.

I wonder how they will keep tabs on anybody about to embark on such an enterprise having regard to the Labour Party’s disdain for collecting intelligence.

That would be the Liberal Democrat wing of Al Qaeda.
Militant librarians armed with pencils and chalk striking a blow for sharia law.
Phil Goff is truly a Wankers Wanker.
You can bet he is still “feeding the geese” over his photo with Arafat.

Goff is right; it’s not the role of the NZ state to tell people what they can and can’t do overseas.

Alan: Maybe it is the state’s role to intervene. These guys going to fight originally came here as refugees, costing taxpayers millions, now they take off, who is keeping their families, surely not them, that is, if they were working. Where did they get the money from? Once again muggins NZ taxpayers are funding the behavioural problems of migrants who only use us as a feed and passport base.

The real problem is when they return home and have been radicalised against all western nations. This can lead to them taking out terriosit acts on home soil.

If they have gone, they should not be allowed back.

They’re radicalised already. That’s why we don’t need them here in the first place.

And how is it “we” know so little about these people in the first place. The media have not been up to speed (that would be racist )

We don’t know about them because they are not part of us,they’re not the average kiwi bloke next door, that we all know and recognise…….so how’s that multiculturalism working for ya now?

Why didn’t they go to Campbell or Seven Shite or the local rag to say ,hey my passports’ been cancelled, that’s not very “kiwi” eh,I want to go on holidays and travel like the rest of you …….oh no …..why would terrorists draw attention to their activities and mosques?

Or the Human Rights so and so ,who would have gone in to bat for their freedom of movement ? Nope.

These are not ordinary “kiwis”.Why are they here?

Both Labour and the Greens will suddenly have a Damascus moment when they get into power and intelligence collection will be back in favour. Its ok when the left does it.

Some how the left have become like a priesthood. I was thinking of that when listening to Chris Trotter. What is his special knowlege? He was commenting on Shanelle ? Kirby’s guilt and took the white Australia is racist angle. They stand sneering at common white people while airbrushing everyone else.

I think it would be a fine thing for Chris Trotter, Phil Goff or Nicky Hager and other Red/Greens to go over to Syria and take up arms with the rebels. We could have a whip around and shout them the airfare. See how many of them make it back.

Hey, this could be a defining issue for the left in the 21st Century, like Spain was in the 1930′s. International Brigades here we come!

Politicians they are the same the world over

“This is a playoff situation in which you need both teams to lose, but at least you don’t want one to win — we’ll settle for a tie,” said Alon Pinkas, a former Israeli consul general in New York. “Let them both bleed, hemorrhage to death: that’s the strategic thinking here. As long as this lingers, there’s no real threat from Syria.”
